Karin, welcome to the board. I see there is an ea82 turbo engine on e-bay for $450, but I'm sure you can scare up a cheaper motor in a PAP in your own neighborhood. Good score on the ring.

You bought it used a while back. It is very possible the check engine light came on a while back and the code is stored. If nothing else, check the codes, clear the ecu and check it again in a week. It doesn't cost anything.

Welcome to the board. For your first problem, go to Legacy 777's site and find how to pull the ECU codes. (I agree, it sounds like an O2 sensor, but your car will tell you what's going on). The second sounds like a job for a professional.

Welcome to the board. The parts aren't interchangable, but that is a smoking deal if they both run, or if either one of them runs. If one of them is an RX and it has a LSD in it, you can part that out for $100 to $150 right away.
