Best Experience w/ Mechanic EVER!
northguy replied to ScoobySchmitty's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe guy I use is top notch, albeit expensive. But I've never had a problem with anything he's touched and I've got 3 subies with over 100K on each. You get what you pay for.

PK Lift bolt compatibility?
Installation was flawless for me. But that's not to say it was easy. Due to the angle, lying on my back, trying to hold one thing up with one hand and ease the bolt in... it was frustrating and I had to laugh at the situation a couple of times, but everything fit perfectly. Had I attempted to do the job 15 years ago, I'd have lost patience and just gone into ramming speed and crossthreaded a bunch of bolts. Take your time and learn to laugh at difficulties ( and always think... if it were easy, women would want to do it).

PM Snowman - he's got plenty of practice by now.

He wants $100...what would YOU do?
Grab the VIN # and run it. That'll tell you what it is. But regardless, if you can't salvage double that in parts, something is wrong. Go for it.

Is there a way to change gearing?I'm turning 4,000rpms @ 80mph...
First, the rpm/speed you list is about right. +/- a few mph depending on fine tuning. Upgrading to 15" Pugs can boost about 10%. Second - why do you need to go faster than 80? Do the speed limit, live longer, enjoy the countryside. Don't be in such a big hurry. If time is that important, fly.

Which side?
HEY! Easy on us oldtimers.

I'm a dumbåss...
northguy replied to LameRandomName's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAre you looking for confirmation of your thread title? At least you had common sense enough to do some problem solving instead of just pushing on and getting sore knuckles and broken parts.

How to get a key for a soob?
Kelly, you could always send me the lock you pulled and I can take it to the nearby locksmith and have it repinned to the already existing key for the car.

northguy replied to 7starTom's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOpening shot - Wide view of an auditorium - panning in on one man sitting in a seat in the middle of the auditorium. man says - I wonder where everyone else is? I know there were thousands invited. cut to blizzard conditions - snow blowing sideways. Shhet ice on the roads. People slipping and falling head over tea kettles.... Back to the man - By now a couple of other people amble in. "Is that your car out there? I parked next to you. Nice car. Looks like it handles pretty well. (And continued talk of this ilk without naming a make or model). cut to cars in the ditch, collisions and fender benders. More footage of snow and sleet.... Back to a collection of about a hundred people all talking together - a representative sampling of all walks of life and cultural, and socio-economic sampling. cut to a collection of about 80 Subarus all parked together. back to the crowd - overheard - maybe if the visiting team had Subarus, there'd be a game today. What could I get for Selling My Soob?
Regional differences account for a wide range in pricing. For example, here (AK), any vehicle with 4 wheel drive can fetch $1500 if it is at all reliable. So my answer would be, if you sell it for less than that, you should get 15 months to 3 years for disrespecting a decent car.

Presenting My Subaru's
Everything is for sale - dependent on the price.

Chef Tim went and did it!!!!
If Tim is really into buying new cars for people, I can think of a few who would be more than happy to have one. And I'll stand at the front of the line. (But seriously, congrats on the new purchase. It's a special thing to drive a new vehicle.)
