  1. I was under the impression that the 4.11 gears will fit with a small amount of work, but the 4.44's won't. just a heads up.
  2. factory spec is .039-.043 if you have a good coil i'd gap them at .045, on that note, if you have an accel coil you might swap that out and see if that helps.
  3. someone in colorado figured it out, with the 4.11, but he seems pretty tight lipped about it.
  4. it should be in the owners manual.
  5. I'd like to point out the obvious but its a good distinction, Toyota and GM own parts of Fuji Heavy, not Subaru. Which means they own as much a stake in their aircraft business as they do in their Robin engine division.
  6. hate to say it, but you'd have to increase airflow quite a bit everywhere else for this to become the restriction. if you're looking for power, get a better coil, plugs and wires. exhaust is the biggest improvement you can make on these engines, maybe some cams from www.deltacams.com. either way, starting with a 90 hp 4 cyl, you will never get "mad" power, unless you swap in a turbo, and there you are doing a custom jobber, no off the shelf parts.
  7. the electric motor is much more efficient, you won't gain much, but fuel economy may increase.
  8. i'm sure i could make one easy enough, but i already put the money down, over a year ago. if i got my money back i could make it myself.

  10. the old EA-81 style gas cap was a non vented cap, you may be able to upgrade to a newer vented cap so that you don't have that problem. I also have that problem in my 1980, but i open it slowly and it dosn't spit on me very often.
  11. If i don't have a tracking number by monday, i'm definately going to concider demanding my money back and making it myself.

  13. Maybe in the mail Saturday? Maybe not, we'll see.

  15. My only worry about Minus sizing would be clearing the calipers, other than that you should have no troubles. Might throw off the speedo, but i'm sure you don't use it anyway.
  16. you go through brats faster then Zap goes through hatches. she's a pretty one.
  17. Stock motor EA-81 73 HP Stock motor EA-82 90 HP Stock motor EJ-22 135 HP In an EA-81 thats 62 more HP In an EA-82 thats 45 more HP
  18. Well, seeing as i have 1.5 EJ-EA cars, i'm in a unique postion, where i know what it looks like, and have the parts of 2 cars apart that upon installation i can take pictures of what people may find important, those that know what will be important, and what those that are contemplating the swap see as important. Basically mine boil down to: 1994 Legacy 2.2 4EAT into a 1980 GL 1600 with EA-82 5spd DR This one is a squirrel's nest, once i get the 88 swap running i'll be cleaning this one up a fair bit, which should give me enough experience to know rather quickly what is necessary and what is not. Future mod's to this vehicle, which I feel are aplicable to the swap are the installation of an RX transmission with the 4.11 final drive (apparantly not easy but possible) and the "real" dual range 1.59 I feel that with only 2wd this setup gets the front tires spinning real easy, if this is for a non offroader, i'd reccomend the 5mt from the engine donor vehicle, with EA-82 turbo axles. however the RX has the added benifit of a center locking diff, which would give you the added traction on road so you don't roast your front tires, and also give you the real traction that only 4WD can provide. one i'm about to complete 1991 Legacy 2.2 5MT into a 1988 DL SPFI with GL 5spd DR This may also get a RX transmission, but the EA-82 is a heavier car, and on this one i have larger tires than on the ''water wagon'' so i believe peeling out will be harder in this vehicle. CLIFF NOTES Tell me what you want pictures of during the build and i'll be sure to get them. When this post gets resurected in june 2006, i'm sorry but its too late.
  19. I'm gonna call John tomorrow, if its not in the mail i'll let you know. Thanks Cuda.

  21. I don't think the acronym for the Alaska Subaru Show would look to good on a shirt. i'd still wear it though its always good to get subie swag. So, are we thinking this winter, or next? Will this be mostly the "offroad" old school crowd, or will we be bringing the "nice bodied" aka New subies with? should i be getting a snowboard then? RolloverBratboy's wife has family/friends in Ketchican, which is another city where we could find help if need be. Ironically, i'm listening to CW Mcall's "convoy" its a sign. A sign that we will need handles, and i'm sure we all go by subie when were alone, so were gonna need to come up with new ones. I'm gonna shotgun "castle rat"
