  1. it seems rare that a cam seal would suddenly let go. but not impossible i guess. having not seen it i'd venture to guess that it might even be the power steering pump, the rubber hose could have sprung a leak.
  2. pre 96 they came in 2wd variants, just look underneath as Jib's said, if you see a rear diff, then its 4wd after 96 they are all AWD at least USDM
  3. so the pump works now, but i've not got spark the coil seems to be getting power but i'm stumped. Austin had mentioned a coil resistor that was on the legacy passenger strut tower, but i don't seem to see it on the schematic.
  4. It sounds like the mechanical linkage is missing between the two
  5. The rear diff should bolt right in, i'd just change the whole diff, although on the Legacy there is much more support for the diff than on the EA-82's You may have to make a custom drive line, and shorten or lengthen the section in front of the carrier bearing
  6. I seem to be having a small issue with the ignition relay, it should be grounding into the ECU, but when i apply 12 volts to the power side it dosnt' click :-\
  7. You're not the first Los, so this isn't aimed at you. But everyone seems to think that the AA wagon is a DL, well, as one of the few owners of a DL on the board, i can say that its not, it has black D pillars, and the single headlights, and the slightly more obvious GL badge on the rear hatch.
  8. Way easy, the bottom bolts even line up. at least 20 people have done this.
  9. Still working on the wiring, when its running, i'll be smiling soo big it won't even be funny Just a heads up, that million wire junction box with the 10 mm bolt that connects the two halves, yeah, make sure that's tight and that will save quite a few headaches.
  10. Huzzah for the resurection of the dead posts!! As far as craming a 2.7 into a hatch, you can either search, or browse the Retrofitting forum.
  11. my engine is in, and as soon as i get off my keester, i'll spend the rest of the day wiring and hooking up sensors and cooling lines
  12. nothing in this world is cheap or free, especially on Subaru's You gotta pay to play, thats it no way around it, unless you were born with a silver spoon.
  13. I can imagine it would be fun to ride with you in the snow. I'd also have to downplay the studs, the hakk's should be good enough without them.
  14. Get a test light, and turn the ignition on, find out what fuses have power in this position, and tie in your positive wire from that, but make sure that when the ignition is off, the fuse dosn't have power.
  15. Maybe we could get into Subie Sport !!
  16. It would get you better acceleration than the stock legacy, if you had AWD, but in FWD, its hard to put the power down. As far as MPG, with oversized tires, i'm getting 25-26 mpg pretty consistantly. Someone put the whole legacy AWD AT drivetrain under an EA-81 wagon, that way he can run legacy wheels, ran really well too.
  17. Austin had to use some pink string that I had in the back of my dad's forester as a hand throttle because the throttle cable broke, it was hillarious. I'd worry about the safety of a throttle that sticks, if you push the clutch you could over rev, and if you don't get it to disengage you run the risk of backing into somthing. maybe a bike brake that dosn't lock. I'd be cool if you get it to work, let us know Huzzah for the pink string
  18. I think you're the only one on the board that can challange me for too many stickers I still have quite a bit of real estate, so if anyone has any more
  19. Yes, if your peak power is that high it will be a bear on the street, low end torque will be reduced quite a bit.
  20. if you are using an OBDII engine and harness, as the 2001 is, you will need a VSS or the vehicle will not run correctly, i'm not 100% sure but its either in the transmission that the engine came with, or its on the axle tied into the ABS. without the VSS the computer will go into limp home mode, and after about 10 miles you will have about half the horsepower.
  21. The difference is clearly your exhaust, thats the only non-common element between the two.
  22. I was under the impression that the SOHC's fit, no matter the size, well, except the 3.3
