  1. The Outback is set up as an off-road sports utility and the Legacy as an On-road sports utility. The outback has more of a rugged off road suspension, bigger tires, also the 3.0 Outbacks come standard with an automatic Transmission, and power sunroof other than that not much but you may be comparing apples to oranges. The base Outback XT is only $2000 more then the base Legacy GT because of the susp. and tires plus the few extra odds and ends. NOW... where you see this big increase in base prices is when you jump into the base model Outback 3.0 VDC and the 3.0 LL BEAN which are about $6-7K more then the Legacy GT. So now you have a bigger engine (although you to get less power in the 3.0), vehicle dynamics control, and some nice plush leather that LL Bean slapped into the Outback. And if you have ever shopped at LL Bean they are not exactly cheap. Look at this, it is every thing you would have to add to the stock Legacy GT to even get it to compare to the base model Outback vdc Autotrans $1200 extra LTD upgrade $2700 extra This doesnt include the VDC or the upgraded leather or suspension. There you have it just to give you a picture on their differences. Hope it helps!
  2. HEY Subaru freaks here i translated most of it to English. Hope it helps!!! Check it out!!!!!! http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.gadoueweb.com/meca-suz/Preparation/Samourai/snorkel.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.gadoueweb.com/meca-suz/Preparation/Samourai/snorkel.htm%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D
  3. YO JIBS!!! It was probably me that you were thinking of. I am in working progress on a few different parts that I am reproducing in Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) <-- just a fancy name for fiberglass. ie.. hood fender/ fender flairs for lifted rigs, mabe tailgates if i can pull it off. also I am going to attempt to build an FRP truck bed cover that will allow people to still sit in the back of the brat without removing the cover. I will let you know as the project progresses. If you have any suggestions PLEASE PLEASE let me know. I cannot help you if you dont! Thanks alot The price for the parts wont be cheap but I am NOT going to OVERCHARGE anyone. It will be; cost of parts + cost of labor + shipping. I am an honest member of the USAF that wants to keep these bad little trucks on the road!
  4. Hey my XT6 has the same problem. I swapped out the throwout bearing and still it wheers. I am almost positive that what the problem is the bearing is constantly rubbing on the pressure plate. I tried to backup the clutch fork by loosening the clutch cable but the cable from the hill holder wouldn't let it release. I have not had time to experiment longer do to work schedule but i will have an answer if this will help before next weekend! As far as the metal shavings on the plug, that has nothing to do with the throwout bearing. The bearing makes no contact to any gear oil. Good luck!
  5. Thanks for the help! Now along with that, how about using an XT6's full suspension setup; ie.. Struts, control arms, cross member, drive axles and shaft and spindle. All this with the XT6 engine and 5 spd transmission and 4.90 locking diff. NUTS???? Basicly a brat lifted about 6 inches on an XT6's sub frame. Possible, or am I crazy? This will extend my wheel base 2" on both sides 4" total, and extend my rear wheels back 2". <-- this is based off of my calculations between my 84 brat and 89 XT6. Oh ya and that FULLY REBUILT TWIN TURBO ER27 I forgot to mention, sorry. What do you think? I know it will be ALOT of fabrication but do you think it is worth it?
  6. Wait until mid May for the Tribeca. I saw it at a car show and looks to be a good driver with a lot more room than the Forester. Check it out. Some people dont like to front end, but if subaru isnt going to be different who is? ie.. Brat, 360, STI yada yada yada.
  7. Do you know what the A/R is on the VF40 for the compressor and turbine?
  8. Subaru Freaks Heres a mind bender for ya. Does anyone know how much of a differance in ride height there would be if a set of Xt6 NON-AIR struts were modified to fit in an 84 brat? I know its crazy but just wondering. THANKS!!!
  9. Hey Subaru Freaks Does anyone know what the operating PSI is for the XT6 Air suspension? ALSO Does the compressor put out a higher PSI then a normally operate suspension? Thank you very much!
  10. What the ???? Let me guess this is your doing and your trying to cover by claiming that as someone elses? If it was mine thats what I would do. What an Identity crisis. Who knows what to make of this monstrosity!
  11. Thats COOL!!! (COLD) Funny thing is the site you picked that picture from was of Iceland of which I have lived there due to prior military orders. Iceland is an awesome place to 4 wheel. The land is open for most anything, and if there is somewhere you want to 4 wheel i.e. on someones land usually if you ask nicely they will usually let you as long as you dont kill their sheep, oh and give the a bottle of scotch. They may even jump in you ride and go with you. Great Pic!
  12. Hope I light a fire under everyone to do this to their seats! Its not hard at all to fix the foam the hardest part was the fabric! You could swap the foam and add reinforcement foam easily in a day once you have all the tools. The only reason it took me so long was I had no help to go by but you have no excuse! DID I MENTION IT LOOKS COOL AND IT WAS A LOT OF FUN!
  13. Seats done!!! I hope this clears up any questions!!! Check this out!!! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=84
  14. 2500 is kinda steep for 180K on any car. I would at least try to have her drop it some. I payed 1100 for my 89 xt6 with only 130k. You could probably find something better for that price or something cheaper for the miles. but thats my thoughts.
  15. Subaru Freaks I finished the XT6 Front Seats. I totally repaired the Foam and Fabric and they look great! Let me know what you think! Check it out please!!! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=84
  16. The seats are done here are the pics. I will post all my progress up to the final product tonight. The foam was totally rebuilt and the new seats are very tight, they feel like racing seats now. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=4466&sort=1&size=medium&cat=500
  17. Just to let everyone know In an XT6 the foam on the seats for the Passanger and driver side are exactly the same, Actually they are molded from the same die. I am currently rebuilding the seats. I will be swapping the passanger side seats over to the driver side because there is no wear on the pass side, Its an exact fit! I am also reinforcing both seats with extra foam. All in all I have spent a total of $50 to do a total makeover to the seats, new foam $21, new hog rings w/ pliers $12, New upholstery furniture fabric (Black) 1.5 yards $18. I will post my pics by the end of this weekend the seats will be finished and installed! Enjoy!
  18. When I bought my Legacy 2.5GT It wasn't on the lot for a week. I saw one a few weeks before they came out that a columist was test driving for a local news paper. Not a week later I recieved an email offering me $25 if i test drove the GT. I went to dealer with a 2003 Outback and with absolutly no intention to buy the GT I drove it home! All I have to say is BAD A$$!!!! Add a boost controller and a boost guage, crank the boost and you could be running 300hp all day long! Im not totally sure of the differances between the STI and the GT's engines but this thing is a beast. I would Imagine the 400HP+ at the wheels is no problem without any major mods! I bought dark blue automatic (sports shifter) because my wife doesnt really want to ride a stick all day at home and on the road, YA know. The Sports shifter is actually really nice! Keeps the turbo in the sweet spot when ever you want it, shifts fast and when you want it minus the clutch(faster shifts). The normal auto mod isnt that bad it seems to shift short some times except at WOT it will shift at redline every time. Its the perfect sleeper stock! Add some mods and it will be retarded fast! No other Subaru has a nicer interior for the power and handling. DO NOT PASS UP THIS SUBI!!!
  19. A question for the subaru freaks Is it possible to swap an EJ20T (WRX) Flywheel into an ER27 (XT6)? Has anyone tried? or better yet from an STI?
  20. How much Horsepower will an air conditioner compressor pump draw on on an XT6. Does any one know? Also how big of an electric motor do you think it will take to spin the compressor at optimal speed? This question leads up to an awsome experiment, I will be trying later!
