  1. Off road but not really! We had a horrendous terrential downpour today, and living a (almost) sea level when it rains it floods fast. In some places the water was probably at the bottom of the doors in my 05 Legacy GT. Anyway... Im driving through this flood like its everyday (actually going over the speed limit) and passing these lifted 4x4s and all the other cars like they are standing still and while all this never once did I lose any traction what so ever! It was Awsome!!! I felt like Peter Solberg racing through the rivers with giant waves of water screaming out from under my wheels! DONT MESS WITH THE ROO!!! I hope this suffices as minor justification to adding it to the offroad forum although it was not really offroad.
  2. I agree the brakes, suspension and all the safety stuff needs upgraded obviously. The thing is the brat is already a light weight vehicle, I would imagine that all that would need to be done is when the 5 lug swap is done which hopefully is when you go the the bigger engine, just swap xt6 brake calipers and rotors into the brat and that should be fine.
  3. I know this is coming a bit late in the thread but.... It is 100% possible to put a remote turbo on a car. The two biggest things (problems) that you will run into is massive amounts of plumbing and a lot of turbo lag. The reason that truck with the remote turbo did so well is because of the amount of exhaust gas that it could expel in a short time. 8 or 10 cyls put out alot of exhaust producing massive back pressure very fast giving it very little lag. I would also imagine that a remote turbo is only one mod that the truck had, probably had nitrous and propane injection yada yada yada, the list for diesal mod go on an on. Tell you the truth I want you to build an impreza EZ30r with remote turbo. It would be an awsome project, and a lot of fun, but I would only do it if you want to be the first to do a remote on a ROO. Other then that it would be better just going with a turbo mounted closer to the engine to keep plumbing down, better spool times with less pressure loss. Good luck T man!
  4. Thanks Tim I glad that not every one is shooting my ideas down. For everyones information all that I am lacking currently to finish my project is time and then you will know if it works or not. I have all the parts minus a few now that I have been trying to aquire for awhile. In case you have not forgotten it is not a fast or easy process to build a car. I just payed all off all my bill so that I can now focus on what i need to have done and that I can afford the build without studder. Hopefully it will be done before the next big gathering so I can share it with the USMB community and hopefully bring others to understand and enjoy and mabe even JOIN our ridiculous love for these cars. THANK YOU!
  5. The best of the best would to instead of just using a rust converter, use POR-15. With this stuff you can paint over rust instead of using the converter. I did try some converter I boght from LOWES (in a big clear bottle with green fluid) on the tailgate on for my brat and so far so good. BUT the best thing is POR-15 I had a friend paint just about every thing on his car with this stuff without preping the rust (which you do not have to do) and he has had no rust growth what so ever. The stuff is a little expensive but it is worth every drop. When I start working on the body/frame of the brat this will be the key ingrediant of preventing any rust. Hope this helps! So dont forget POR-15 http://www.por15.com/ ALSO try this stuff Par-Al-Ketone - Its used for airframe corrosion resistance. An excellent corrosion inhibitor for use on exterior surfaces of parts that are subject to exposure. Recommended for all control cables. Meets spec. MIL-C-52, Type 1. May be sprayed, dipped, wiped or brushed on. Thin with mineral spirits or use undiluted. http://www.aircraft-spruce.com/catalog/appages/paralketone.php
  6. hehe you said absurd:brow: HEHE
  7. If I can remember correctly the J-spec 2004/2005 Impreza STI only had 261 HP and 252 lb/tq out of the 2.0 twin scroll USA spec 2004/2005 STI had 300 HP / 300 lb/tq The new 2006 J-Spec has 276 HP and 311 lb/tq a jump of 5.7% HP and 23.4% lb/tq I figure that we again will be getting the 2.5 instead of the 2.0 and if we get these increases in power we might be looking at 2006 USA spec STI 317 hp and 370 lb/tq I personally think it might be closer to 325 HP give or take 5 hp and 350 lb/tq give or take 10 lb/tq. MY GUESS 325 HP 350 LB/TQ 0-60 4.2 sec 1/4 12.9 sec flat All this with a more aerodynamic body and the new DCCD, better handleing. I just hope we get the twin scroll turbo also. The styling isnt that bad, I like the new lights they look like my 05 LGT's ALL IN ALL This will be a very fast V8 KILLER leaving retarded mustang owners quivering in their elementry school dream cars. HEHE:grin:
  8. I think that the biggest thing that would need to be done is you have to have all time AWD. My D/R with the original EA81 spins the tires with no prob due to only the front wheels only engaged instead of all 4. Just think with even a ER27, even with the extra weight they would spin like a MOFO! I am getting a grip load of money over the next 3 months so dont be suprised if you dont hear from me about my ER27TT into the 84 brat soon!!! THE PROJECT WILL KICK INTO HIGH GEAR VERY SOON!!!!!
  9. Thats BAD A$$ !!!!! Just dont negelect the brat. So what have you done to the STI to bring it up to 500hp?
  10. Im with Rick!! you could make it fit, it would just take a $h!T load of cutting and welding. hehe think of it this way if you did it first you would be a great pioneer! If you dont I might! GO FOR IT!!! <-- He's crazy dont listen to him (voices in head)
  11. A few thoughts First... Did you reset your fault code light after you swapped all that stuff? B... Did you make sure all of your connections are cleaned very good. I've seen a meer dirty connection on my coolant temp sensor cause my engine to die seconds after the engine light come on. 3... Did you make sure your timeing is correct? Again food for thought, Hope this helps!
  12. Well I haven't done this swap but I was planning to put mine into my 84 brat. Let me know how this goes!. In the mean time check this out! I fixed the foam and reupholstered the seats. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=84
  13. Hey think about this Myxalplyx, I dont remember if you said you are running MS on any of your cars, but I would imagine that if you were you could run those extra injectors with no prob at all! remember MS can control up to 12 cyl's at a time. FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
  14. Hey Myxalplyx I found a pic of his car with the extra injector. I guess he never looked back at the thread. Water intercooler also, but he never wrote up anything about this project.
  15. As far as the Q about the ER27TT I am in the process of building it up. I am working out all the subsystems to try to get them to work in harmony before I just slap it together and destroy everything. And the one about the lift, It was more or less an idea I figure the XT6 has a more stable setup. That coupled with the light weight of the brat it would be even better. Like I said an idea.
  16. Well, the distance between the where the crossmember bolts up to the lower control arms on the brat is 23" and on the XT6 it is 25". So I would imagine the other 2 inches are picked up in the control arms. SO on a conversion you would be picking up a total of 2", one on each side. I know one inch extra probably wont matter too much on the width. I just hope that the extra 2 inches in the length would allow me to cut the back part of the rear fender so I dont have to cut into the hidden step when I go to a bigger tire. For the front of the car, you will need to change: Struts, lower control arms, spindles, brakes (calipers, rotors), hubs, and tie rod ends. For the rear, you will need: Backing plates, hubs, and rotors.
  17. Well for a longer and wider wheel base. The wheel base is 4 inches wider and 2 inches longer then a brat. More stable when lifted. What would be required? Would it be ridiculous? Am I crazy to even think of this? I know people have done crazier swaps!
  18. Hey Subaru Freaks Here is a crazy one for ya Has anyone thought about or heard of swapping the XT6 frame under the body of a Brat? Has it or can it be done? I know there would be A LOT of cutting and welding. One crazy project!
  19. Well its over! $610+ shipping for a BRAND NEW motor. I wish I had the money! Gman4x4(ebay member name) won it. Does anyone know who this is?
  20. Hey Subaru Freaks Check this out!!! A BRAND NEW ER27 For sale on ebay. Never ran in a car. AWSOME http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7977625606&category=33615&sspagename=WDVW#ebayphotohosting There is a day and 3 hours left!!!
  21. They took the designer from alfa romeo and had him design the new subarus. Unfortunatly he left his sweet designs at the alfa drawing table. If mabe he would adapt some of his REALLY nice designs to subaru it would be more appealing. Alfa Visconti Dont forget subaru usually screws up on their first few model years on their new designs and then make it up later. I just cant wait until the B11S 3.0TT 400HP comes out but hopefully it looks more like the car above.
  22. Boost guage and boost controller BG= $30-50 on ebay or autozone BC= $20 Max on ebay Dial up your boost. Quick and easy!
  23. Hey Frank I am actually looking into something like this but at a different aspect. What I plan on doing is installing my radiator in the bed of my Brat. I think my biggest issue will be getting that much coolant to the back and back into the engine. I have been looking for supplimental inline pumps that would be able to be mounted between when the coolant leaves the engine and enters the radiator. Ive seen a few pumps but if any one could help on this subject please let me know!
  24. Whats up colorado dude. High altitude! That could be a really big reason. If your running with a stock intake or even a clogged/dirty intake you are killing you power capabilities. That or you may be running lean on fuel. I know when I lived there my car ran pretty lame until I was stationed in NC. The altitude difference makes a big difference! I have heard of people hitting 100mph in an xt6 but I dont know about the rev limiter that may be the problem. Good luck. If you really want to make some power/ speed turbo charge it! Where in colorado do you live??
  25. Check this out I just found a 2004 Subaru RX LOL!!! http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?rdpage=thumb&car_id=182011102&dealer_id=576220&car_year=2004&make=SUB&distance=100&lang=en&max_price=&model=RX&end_year=2006&min_price=&certified=&address=27534&search_type=both&advanced=&start_year=1981&isp=y&cardist=144
