  1. Tell ya what I could try to make a hole in the hood to accomidate the scoop but mabe add more mounting points what would incompouse even more scoop styles. ie.. xt scoops, wrx scoops, or mabe even inverted scoops, Also mabe even one of those huge retarded mopar intakes that look like a huge nose on the top of the car. What do you think about that??? ie this goofy crap if you want it. HEHE
  2. I will be starting with OEM style hoods then moving to more elaborate styles louvers, scoops, crazy angles. If you need to increase your hood clearences I will work on that.
  3. Scoops are hard to make and may cost more depending on how large a scoop is. But may not be too much more. I would love to do any hoods the main thing is getting enought people that want them so I can offset my initial molding costs. If I could get an EA82 hood I wouldn't have a problem I just need something to use as a mold.
  4. I agree. I imagine the hoods for a BRAT would probably be in the ballpark of $250 +/- and for the XT6 around $300 +/- dont quote me on that. At this point its hard to tell total final cost to me, CF fabric is expensive! A fiberglass would be a fraction of that cost and would be paintable and preprimered. As far a fabrics I have a large selection that I could get. I am not here to rip any sooby owners off! I will have a better estimate when all my measurements are complete. I will keep it as affordable as possible. I dont want the hood to cost more then the car is worth ! Let me know what you are willing to pay or if this is a decent price. 5. Hey Subaru freaks! I am looking for enought people that would be willing buy a Carbon fiber Hood for an '89 XT6 or '84 Brat (these are the current years I have to work with) . For the brat I plan on making tonneau cover out of either CF or FG. The cover would be designed to keep the rear seat still operational while the cover is closed. What does everyone think about this? Prices would be based on design and materials. Keep it real!
  6. Hey Subaru freaks How many people did you persuade to buy a subaru instead of something else? What Subaru did they buy? What did they want to buy before you persuaded them to "The Way of the ROO"? I converted 1. my mother, 04 Forester, didnt make any decision to buy anything else yet. 2. a friend at work, 99 Impreza 2.5 RS, she wanted either a Acura or a VW. 3. my father, 05 Baja, he had a saturn I got him to sell it and buy a suby. 4. my sister, 84 gl-10, she didnt have a car just found the right deal.
  7. I am planning to build some custom center stereo consoles for the brat out of either fiberglass or Carbon fiber. There is a big problem with them not being able to fit an aftermarket stereo in due to clearences behind the console, I would fix this problem. I also want some feedback as to what else you might want installed in the console ie.. guages, cig lighter, switches and so on. What are you willing to pay for this console, this is what would determine how extensive/detailed the final product will be. Along with this I am also planning to do the shifter console and center box console. Brats (at least mine) does not have a built-in cup holder which I would include. Please let me know what you want!
  8. What Model GTech Pro where you using? the old red LED display, the SS or the RR model?
  9. So how much did you drop the seats? And did it help the head height issue? I plan on cutting off the entire rails that mount to the bed and rebend new ones, mine are badly rusted. I'd dont really mind using bolts to hold the seats down but mabe using something like a hood pin or something that would be strong enought and wont come loose. I saw a 5th wheel mount that used locking pins kinda like the ones that craftsman uses on their good sockets. Basiclly you can pull them as hard as you want but they wont budge without pushing the release button. But for offroad use I would imagine that nice big lag bolts would do the trick.
  10. Hey all I was wondering if anyone has tried to lower the jumpseats by cutting the seat frame down and rewelding it. I was thinking about lowering them about 4-6" so everyone that sits in them, their heads don't poke out above the top of the brat. Also I was also planning on making the Jumpseats removable so I could use the truck bed when needed as a truck bed but not lose the kick rump roast seats. Has anyone attempted this? How well did it work?? Thanks
  11. Hello all Does anyone know if it would be safe to lighten up the flywheel by either milling down the back or by drilling holes? Kind of a stupid question but just gotta ask. Scott S. 05 Legacy 2.5GT 84 BRAT
  12. FINALLY!!!!!! I was looking through the family album on my computer and decided to look through my engine rebuild pictures just for ****s and grins when I cam across a picture (a side view of the cylinder block). I almost looked at it for a few minutes when it dawned on me that these were the 2 final and extremly elusive bolts. The were just like you said recessed into the block but I thought I already got the one you were talking about. These Bolts were in the oil jackets recessed about 2-3" below the surface on the bottom of the Cylinder block side wall where the passanger side head connects. Once removed w/14mm socket, I wacked the cylinder head a few hard times and BAMMM! It spilt open! Dont be a dummy like me! I am now a happy dummy! YAYYYYY Scott S 05 Legacy 2.5GT 84 Brat
  13. So the how do you get your hand on a FSM and how much do they cost? The other day I was on Autozone.com and i found these 2 service manuals. This one is for things like minor tuneups and is free to use but only limited to a few things, not usually many diagrams. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=RG001&UserAction=beginRepairGuide This link has quite a bit of stuff major overhauls w/ quit a few diagrams but costs some cash. when you go to the link you can check out some examples as to what they offer in the priced manuals. check it out. http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html Scott S 05 Legacy 2.5 GT 84 Brat
  14. If you want you can install an exhaust by-pass valve. There are different models some controlled by a cable linkage and some controlled electronically both inside the car. Anyway when its installed and your at an inspection or having emissions tested set it to flow through the full exhaust(cats and muffler). When you leave pull the switch and BAMM you by-pass the Cats and muffler, Gain power with increased flow and sounds cool also. I think that would be awsome! The valves start around 40 or so and go up from there. I saw a 2" manual cable linkage type valve in a JEGS magazine but you can find larger if you search. Food for thought. 15. I own the new 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT. I love it!! very powerfull! corners awsome! probably one of the best interiors subaru has came out with yet! I want to get a boost guage and boost controller so I can kick up the power. There is really no difference in the engines between the STI and the GT. I think the GT's only diff is that it runs a smaller turbo then the STI but very capable of the same boost pressure. I want to tweak the boost to the STI's 300hp! Soon! Good job Subaru! 16. I don't know what I think... we will find out this summer from what I hear. I belive what happend was subaru has employed the vehicle designer for Alfa Romero to try to freshen up the Suby looks, its definatly different. From the looks of it they are trying to keep up with the porsche cayenne's looks and If they go with the B11S's Twin Turbo setup w/ 400hp it will be able to keep up with the power also. The B9 kinda looks like a mix of Porsche Cayenne, Nissan Murano, Infiniti FX45, and an Alfa Romero Kamal <--You tell me?? Its twin mabe???? Scott Schinsky 05 Legacy 2.5GT 84 Brat
  17. I heard of one mabe just a roomer but it was said to have 900,000 origional miles on it. Supposedly its on display in somewhere I think Washingson state. Like I said mabe just a roomer, but that would be damb cool! Scott S
  18. Hey buddy Check out https://www.rockauto.com/applet3.html for any part you might need the keep you SUBARU running. This is an awsome site for parts! I found about 10 O2 sensors for your car they are anywhere from $8 - $155. Just go through the searching process. Good luck Scott Schinsky 2005 Legacy 2.5GT 1984 Brat
  19. Thank you Snowman Awsome help! do you know where you can buy that sealant In the lower USA? I am in the military and may (GOD willing) get orders to Elmendorf AFB AK. I will try your solution. Thank you very much! Stay warm! Scott Schinsky sjs9000@aol.com 2005 Legacy 2.5GT 1984 BRAT
  20. Hello all What is the easiest way to split an ER27 cylinder block in half, it is sticking bad? I am trying to prevent any damage when doing so. Also when I put the block back together is there a gasket or is good old RTV the fix? Thank you Scott Schinsky sjs9000@aol.com 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT 1984 Brat

  22. I am trying to install a pioneer deck into my 1984 brat. My problem is I have four wires that come from the origional harness; Black(Ground) Blue(12vdc) Red w/green stripe(Dont know) Red w/blue stripe(Dont know) On my Pioneer deck I have 3 wires; Red(accessories) yellow(12vdc) Black(ground) I dont know which wires I need to hook up to give the deck constant power without draining the battery. Also normally (when I had my radio hooked up to my old car) I could turn the car off and back ON again and the radio would still be on the same track on a CD, In the brat it wont. Can anybody help me please and give me their advice, I could really use some right about now. Thank everyone. Scott Schinsky 1984 Subaru Brat EA81 soon to be ER27TT
