  1. Yep dude. When I had the opposite polarity it just sat their and looked at me like i am a retart saying "hey retart change polarity"! I did and the pump turned on and but no pump pump! ????????? There was a little bit of water coming out but definatly not 60-70 psi more like -3psi. I will make my way to the JY (junkyard) and find a replacement. That should be the best way to go!
  2. Well the pump I was going to use for the flow tester wont pump water, I think its clogged. SO now I need to go back to the junk yard and see if I can find a XT6 or XT turbo pump that will still run. Sorry guys I wanted the verify the flow this weekend as bad as you. It will just have to wait until either next weekend or mabe even sooner. When ever I get to the junk yard.
  3. Thanks all! I was actually wondering this because I am using the pump as an injector flow tester. NOW my problem is the pump runs but It wont pump water. I picked up the pump from the junk yard so I wonder if its just clogged. I filled a fuel line up half way with water gave it power to pump and then with the water in the line I used my air compressor to force the water through. In this attempt which failed I was trying to force any blockage out but it didnt work. Does anyone else have any ideas to clean a clogged pump? or am I retarded?
  4. Well, I should have tried this before posting a thread, but the pump works. Who would have guessed that the BLACK wire is ++POSITIVE++, and the BLUE which later in the wiring actually hooks to RED is --NEGATIVE--. Kinda basackward ya think SUBARU??? Anyway, I got the pump working pulling 12vdc directly off of the battery. The only thing is I hope that there is not too much current with it directly hooked to the battery. Anyone know if this is ok??? Thanks!
  5. This sucks I cant find an RX or even RX turbo in the junk yard... mabe thats a good thing(reliable). I will look through all the 4 bangers and see if I can find those injectors. How do those RX injectors mount up to the fuel rail??? Can you post a pic from under your engine? That should help.
  6. I have been reading up on the MS and I am looking in to the megasquirt/jolt edis, Has anyone added edis to their XT6 succesfully? As far as the stock fuel injection setup what is the problem with the fuel mapping? I heard that at some point in the RPM range the injectors flow constantly open. I already know the injectors are inadiquate. Some insight please? Is the biggest problem going lean at high revs?
  7. Ahhhh...... Ya that would SUCK, not pumping! I was checking out my chiltons wiring diagram which is crappy at best after using AF technical orders (F-15E wiring diagrams on crack!, try to follow a wire through a $60M Jet, Fun!!!) ANYWAY... There are 2 wires coming from the pump. One wire (Black) goes to the MPFI control unit (wire is marked NCA, not quite sure what NCA means, I think its a metal shielded wire). The other (blue) goes to the fuel pump relay which is linked to a "Hot at all times" wire and a fusable link. I think it would work w/a constant 12v. I am using it to test my injectors for fuel flow, cc flow, and cleaning. I will retry and let you know. Mabe it just needs a good droping to unsieze it!
  8. Hello Fellow Subaru Freaks I was wondering if anyone knows what the operating voltage of the XT6 or XT4 turbo fuel pump runs on. I dont know if I should have done this or not but I tried hooking it up directly to my battery, I saw a spark but heard no type of pumping noise. Curious but is there anything else that needs to hook up to this pump to control it or will a continious voltage start it and keep it going? Thanks for the help!
  9. $35 used at this site. http://www.alibris.com/books/isbn/0912528494/1972%20to%201984%2D%2D%20How%20to%20Keep%20Your%20Subaru%20Alive%3A%20Easy%20Step%2DBy%2DStep%20Maintenance%20and%20Repair%20Procedures
  10. Hey Subaru Freaks! Well here it is. The myth has been cleared up and it is possible. I just rebuilt the 280ZX Turbo brown fuel injectors to fit into the unmodified fuel rails and intake housing. They fit perfectly. There was a little that had to be done but more or less it was easy, I just had to find the correct parts for fitment. Now all I have to do is pressure check the rail to verify if there are any leaks in the seals. This weekend I will be finishing up building my flow bench and acutally verify whether or not this mod will actually matter and hopefully the new injectors will flow more cc then the XT6. Cross your fingers!!! Check this out!
  11. As far as the sprayer side its fitment it perfect! The the end that fits in the fuel rail is a little different. I am running to lowes to see if I can finagle gaskets that might make it fit. If you could somehow switch the fuel pickup (the fuel rail side) there would be no problems. I am building the fuel flow tester right now. I will let you know how it works out. Myxalplyx, What color are the tops of your EA82T injectors? Yellow like my XT6? I belive that the XT6 and EA82T have the same injectors. I am pulling the injectors from an XT4 turbo I found in the junkyard, I will be flow testing them also.
  12. well I had a couple of mins to cut of the hose that was on the nissan injector to see what type of head they have. It a barbed end and the xt6 has the 2 seals on it. crap if there was any way to swap the fuel rail ends we would be in business. I will be working today to get my flow bench setup. Cant wait!!!
  13. Soooo Here is the skinny right now. I just got back from the junk yard in an all intensive search for the right injectors and the any that might fit. These are my findings. They are all from nissans (one from a Datsun). Here are the pics compared to my XT6 injector. Left is from an N/A I-6 280 Datson Right is from a Turbo I-6 280zx Left Is an oddball that was in the Datson, It had 5 injectors like the one above on the left and this one below on the left. Right is the one I pulled from my XT6. This weekend I am going to be running a flow test to see how they match up to each other. It looks like the datsun injector on the top might take the cake. You might be able to tell the injector whole on the XT6 injector is the smallest out of the bunch. I also tried fittment into the fuel boss on my XT6 and all of them fit. The only problem is you would have to fabricate a inj holder and fuel rail. I will get back to you asap and let you know the numbers.
  14. You also may want to replace the fuel line between the pump and the filter. If the old pump was bad which may have been caused by debris coming up from the fuel tank, it could have caused a blockage in the fuel line before the filter, in return backing up the fuel pressure and causing the pump to leak. I hope this helps!!!
  15. My chilton claims between 61-71 psi. I agree it would be easier to go with one, but I would imagine that if the proper precaution were taken ie. inline fuel pressure guage for each pump would help substantiate most fuel tuning problems that would lie in the pump.
  16. What if you seperate the pumps and have each one run one side of the engine? ie pump 1 runs cyl 1, 3, 5 and pump 2 run 2, 4, 6 then have them meet at a common fuel pressure regulator. Crazy? There would be no real differance in line routing, only diff is instead of a line splicing off of the original fuel line you would cap it off and run the second pump line with its own filter and damper. What do ya think?
  17. In an attempt to turbocharge or supercharge an XT6 has anyone tried to wire up two XT6 fuel pumps in parallel to increase fuel flow. I know doing this is a poor excuse for more fuel flow, but mabe with the correct modifications ie. fuel control, MS, RRFPR, something to that affect could call for more fuel flow. Is it plausable?
  18. Pray and then look in the phone book for the nearest "You-pull-it" junk yard that you can pull a water pump out of save yourself the money to keep the car on the road! GOOD LUCK! Oh and pray! or get another job or a better paying one.
  19. I am still thinking about the megasquirt system haltech is a little too much for my taste. But along with that I would imagine that a rrfpr will still be a good addition to the mix.
  20. Should I pick up a Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator for $90 bucks for my ER27 Twin Turbo setup? Good Price? new
  21. I am almost positive that they are not. If you look at your starter there is a big number on it ie 5 6 7 something like that, it should be below 10. Anyway find out that number and if some one else could tell us what their automatic has let us know. My manual xt6 has a black 5 on it and the automatic has a red 6. They do look different but I have not tried to fit up the 6 in the bell housing. I hope this helps. If the two engines ER27 and EA82 use the same starter then this is true for you car.
  22. Nice picture. Whats up with the inner tie rod? Go to your local junkyard, You should be able to find a gen 1 ROO with a good inner tie rod for a good price. they are fairly easy to pull as you probably already know. GOOD LUCK
  23. Beg deel, hu cars aboot grammatical eaers. Doughnut bee sew kritikal!
  24. That sucks! I was checking out your pic's about 10 mins ago and I was going to ask you how bad they were rubbing?but then I came along this thread.
