  1. Well a temporary fix for the boot would be to replace it and then later that new one would go bad. Its always a temporaty fix. HEHE just kidding. Well Im in the military and our quick fix is usually ducktape, never tried this on a boot, but as long as you can keep debris from getting into the boot and keep the tape sticking to the axle it might work. But it sounds like you are putting a lot of miles and hard driving on the bad boot and if you keep it up you are looking at $150 dollar repair instead of a $10 repair(thats if you do the repair yourself), if its not already bad. Boots are pretty easy to change as long as you have the tools to change it with. If not I would just wait to drive it until you have the means to repair it. This should save you and your wallet.
  2. Hey oddcomp thats a nice setup you got there! Just wondering, what did you do with the disty did you remove it or just leave it in there?
  3. Darn and I thought that she was in the swimsuit edition. hehe just kidding jamie OH ya are you going to be racing in the scca rally race in Lexington, OH on the 20-21 of August? That would be awsome!
  4. Damb I want to meet Petter! He needs to come out here to NC. Was there any kind of schedule of where he will be stoping?

  6. What do you guys think of the new forester? pretty sharp. The new Forester XT 230hp, 2.5x 175hp. Both have a higher ground clearance. http://www.drive.subaru.com/Sum05_FirstImpressions.htm
  7. There is a BIG difference between Ricer and Functional! For instance. Sorry for the tangent but enough said!

  9. That is the kinda what I will be doing with my downpipe except I will be fabing the flange and pipe myself, unless that way is cheaper. How much for the D-pipe?
  10. Well they usually have a time listing for almost every car that tells them how long the job will take them. My friend (mechanic) said that they are only allowed to change for the amount of hour that chart tell them how long the job will take. Ya know when you add up smoke breaks and coffee breaks and bull $hiting, the job that was stated to take 5 hours to do just became a 7 hour job. Now when they charge $60-80 an hour, instead of paying about $300 your paying $420 for the same work + them F-ing around on the job. Most legitimate shops will have these time charts, even small ones, Its a matter of integrety. I think they are mandated by some company.
  11. I have access to a metal shop, Is there any way to modify it? I heard from someone that an impreza flywheel will fit,... but not a wrx?
  12. Please HELP!!!:-\ Hey I am looking at getting an ACT heavy duty street clutch and Unorthodox fly wheel off of a 2002 Subaru WRX, Does anyone know it this will fit my XT6?
  13. As far as the thermostat goes all I can find is 180. Quick Q, do you have that sucker intercooled? that should help with the running temperatures.
  14. I miss colorado. When I lived there it seemed that everyone and their brother has a subaru. Now I live in Goldsboro NC. I think I own more subarus myself then there are in this entire town. Most of the people around her that own a soob are military.
  15. DAMB I hate when you have like 10 pages of good crap written for the thread and you accidently hit the back button and you lose all of what you wrote!!! Anyway. This is for all 50 cents! What is causing the overheating is (if this is the new engine(rebuilt)). When you rebuilt the engine you cut all of the gaskets to match the ports if I am not mistaken. When you did that you also did the coolant ports. By doing this (I belive) that it will flow the coolant through the engine effortlessly, the problem with this is the coolant will not backup in the engine (backup caused by the gasket coolant cutouts (small circles) being half the size of the entire coolant port) long enough for the heat of the engine to disapate into the coolant efficiantly. There for your engine temp sensor rises and the radiator is less effective unless you get a bigger radiator to bring the coolant temp down alot AND ULTIMATELY RESULTING IN ME GETTING YOUR 50 CENTS!!!!
  16. Hey just to throw a wrench in the mix. I use compression braking all the time in my AUTOMATIC SPORT SHIFT 05 Legacy 2.5GT. No clutch to wear out no brakes wear out. I have the shifter on the steering wheel and just hit the down shift to drop the gear and it works great. NO wearing anything, smooth power transfer and everything.
  17. Thats awsome! Let me know how that stuff works!! I may be getting some for my cars. Expensive though. I guess if it lasts 3x longer then conventional and lower operating temp it would be worth it. Save your transmission some years.! AMSOIL Synthetic ATF resists high temperature degradation three times longer than conventional ATFs do. It has been reported to reduce high operating temperatures up to 50° F. In fact, heat is such a non-issue for AMSOIL Synthetic ATF, it may be used as a fill-for-life fluid. It needs no replacement in normal operating conditions.
  18. I am in complete aggreance with 555Ron, If there is any thing I hate more then dirty socks it those DAMB SHADY A$$ CAR MECHANICS!!!!! I had a friend go in for a spark plug change ONLY on a suzuki side kick (very easy maintenance), He leaves with an $80 bill. $80 buck could have bought him the wrench and the socket to remove them + about 30 spark plugs and an oil change. The messed up thing is after he got the car back something else was wrong, he brings it back to them and spends another $150 for (I think)a new O2 sensor. Well something else AGAIN and he spent another $400. He eventually sold it because he couldnt afford the maintenance on it. That same "mechanic" sold him a pontiac with 160000 miles on it for about $2000 and I was 10 times worse than his sidekick. Im just glad that his pontiacs transmission siezed up (4 months later) so he couldnt go back to those JERKS. I kept giving him advice and he would say "ok, i'll do that" but the next day bring the car to those mechanics. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: DONT FALL INTO THIS TRICK!!!!
  19. Thanks... I did know that but thank you for the info. This is the purpose of a turbo timer to HELP prevent the coking from happening. As does TRUE synthetic oil also. Coking starts at 300degF. AMSOIL claims their oil has extreamly protective at 306degF. Got this from MOBILOIL.com.\/ Historically, conventional oils lack the performance of synthetic oils in the areas of low-temperature performance and high-temperature oxidation stability. Conventional motor oil is made up of an inconsistent mixture of long and short chains of carbon and hydrogen atoms. In the extreme heat of an engine, short-chain molecules can evaporate, and unstable molecules can oxidize and break down. Conventional oils also contain much greater amounts of impurities, such as sulfur, reactive and unstable hydrocarbons, and other undesirable contaminants that cannot be completely removed by conventional refining of crude oil. Mobil 1 uses high-performance fluids, including polyalphaolefins (PAOs), along with a proprietary system of additives. Each Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance viscosity grade use a unique combination of synthetic fluids and selected additives in order to tailor the viscosity grade to its specific application. Here is AMSOIL's recommended change cycle for their oil. INSANE!!!! Service Life In personal cars and light-duty trucks with non-turbocharged gasoline engines: Drain oil at 25,000 miles or one-year intervals, whichever comes first. In turbocharged gasoline engines: Change oil at three times the engine manufacturer's recommended drain interval or six months, whichever comes first. In high performance and racing engines: Change oil at intervals specified by used oil analysis. http://www.harley-performance.com/amsoil-amo.html My big argument is --- I will never put anything less then FULL SYNTHETIC in my turbocharged car.
  20. You may have a bad oil seal...(duuu Im retarded). A bad seal in the oil pump. Thats better. The more rpms you run the more pressure the pump will have to force the oil out of the broken seal. New seal $3.00. Why did they change the O2 sensor, which you shouldn't have payed more then $25 for? because the light? Have autozone check the light they should do it for free, so you can verify if that is the cause of the light. Also they should be able to clear the light if it is just an old fault from the old o2 sensor. I hope this helps. Try this site its awsome for parts!!! https://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/mak,SUBARU,1993,LOYALE,1270156,1.8L+1781cc+H4+TBI+%284%29 Don't let anyone bully you around about the price of parts!!! Send them to me if need be!!
  21. What year(s) impreza clutch (kits) will fit the xt6 flywheel? Rated for no less then 250HP?
  22. DO IT DO IT! I want to see pictures of this also!!! That would be awsome!!! Even better convert both inside and outside lights to hi/lows! That would rock!!!
  23. From what I am aware of there is no carbon in Full synthetic, preventing carbon buildup. I pulled this from the AMSOIL website. check it out! Petroleum motor oil only has a film strength of about 400 psi where AMSOIL has a film strength of 3300 psi and does not break down, shear or loose viscosity under heat and stress. Petroleum motor oil breaks down under heat and stress and leaves carbon, varnish and sludge deposits in your engine and allows your critical engine components to wear much more rapidly. It's no wonder you have to change it every 3000 miles and your local quick lube or auto dealer can't wait to see you again to charge you more of your hard earned money!
