It probably would have been clear enough, I had some ice in my driveway, but my day was already re-scheduled so I wouldn't have made it anyway. Now... correct me if I am wrong but the super bowl is in 2 weeks? (so that day is automatically out) Any objections to next Sunday? Should be decent weather and no holidays or major events that I am aware of.

Lifted Justy

Just want to make sure people see this: The meet is postponed now for safety. I know we could all get there if we tried, but the other yahoo's in FWD cars and SUV's make take us out. Also the parking lot is sloped and icy, I delivered pizza all day yesterday and didnt fall, I dont want to start now. I havn't called the place, but there is no guarantee that they are even open. So postponed unless we get a major thaw in the next few hours (which I doubt) Maybe we can shoot for next week (we can discuss it later this week)

who's having fun in portland. ICE! *pics*
We had worse than this if you can belive it in high school, it was slightly over 1/4 of an inch thick so just barely beat this. I had to work today, so I got to deliver pizza in the ice. Made alot of money in tips though... but ate ALOT of gas due to driving in low range all day (almost a half tank in 100 miles) Walking was hard, driving was cake, its the morons in their land rovers and H2's you gotta watch out for. (yes I had a land rover on my butt and I just kept going 15-20 down the middle of the road and made him wait )

parking lights on steering column
I use my parking light switch all the time. Its because I deliver pizza. My battery is kinda weak so I dont like having the dome light flash from using the emergency flashers. I do use the flashers when I park REALLY illegal, I just use the parking lights when I park kinda illegal (like block in a car in an apartment complex)

EDIT REvised due to ice, I know we can all get there, we have Subarus, however... the parking lot will be a solid sheet of ice, (and its SLOPED!) and there are alot of dumb drivers out there. Therefore I agree with Jason that we should postpone it --------------------- Postponed til some... Sunday at 4:15 PM at Stark Street Pizza. come one come all I will even buy beer for afew of you that I owe

anyone in OR/WA go to car auctions?
I havn't gone to a dealer one, but I have been to a public one. Check out the nickel ads, they have listings in there for where they are and when they are. Also check out http://www.sergeantstowing.com/ and click on the auction list... I think they update it Wednesday and have the auction Thursday morning. No cost to register and bidding I think starts at like $45

ea 82 to re-seal or not to re-seal, that is the question
IF the tranny is out by all means do the rear main seal.. you never know when you are gonna get back there again. Honestly... I would do the main seals, cam seals, valve cover gaskets, oil pump, water pump and timing belts... of course I dont like my engine to leak.. my power steering does enough of that...

New Paint -- Where in PNW?
Hell why not take it TO the tech school... if they have an auto body program maybe they can teach people on your car... I think all you have to do is buy the paint and labor is free. IF they goof up I'm sure they would re-do it.

Car smokes on left hand on ramps.
I think the retrofit was for cars 87 and up (being that SOME 87's had SPFI) I belive some loyales came from the factory with the kit. If you have blue fittings in the PCV system I belive that is the way to indicate that you DO have the kit.

Car smokes on left hand on ramps.
Get a Subaru PCV valve. My car many years ago had a fram unit.. smoked like crazy on right turns. Changed to a Subaru valve, NO smoke now! No other changes performed on car.

For those who function on hard numbers and not landmarks and such: Stark Street Pizza 9234 SE Stark St Portland, OR (this location should be easy to get to regardless of coming from the gorge, vancouver, beaverton, gresham, portland or eugene...) Sounds like we have support so far for the 16th... any other yay's or nay's??

WHOA! Susquehanna urethane mudflaps are STRONG!
If you have any welding skill bring it over to my house and you can weld the holes back shut. I could do it too, but my welding skills kinda suck still ... on my brat its all fine and dandy since I can grind em til they look good, but on a nice wagon....

Ok, gotta be a Sunday (well at least for me) I think Start Street Pizza is a good location (big parking lot and fairly central) As for WHICH Sunday, lets hear ideas... How about Sunday January 16th??

is a 1992 Loyale a good Subie to mod for off roading?
If you want an easy way to get an off roader, get an 88-89 GL (factory dual range) and stick a 3 inch PK davis lift on it. A loyale would be suitable too, but you have to swap the tranny. you also lose afew cool things like map lights and nice front door armrests/handles.

screw fixing the clock, here's the skinny on my new mod
Hmm I like that idea. I went the other route... I yanked the clock to use the hole as a pass through for my Cb radio wires (now screwed to the dash) Now I just need to hook it up to the battery

wipers only work on hi, dead everwhere else...
Probably the arm or the little relay thingie under the steering column. My guess is the column. Never had one of mine go bad, but there is a little black box on the drivers side kick panel that says WIPER CONTROL on it. Hard to miss really... I have a GL-10 one laying around, but sorry no spare GL ones for you Probably REALLY cheap a U-Pull-It, $2 maybe??

EA82 Caliper questions
My drivers side one was pretty bad when I started... I belive my pistons were protruding 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. The drivers pads were to the metal and starting to eat the rotor, so they cant get much more extended than that. And it sounds as if yours arent as bad as mine were so yours should thread in. Make sure the parking brake lever isnt engaged (either inside the car OR on the caliper) I had the best luck putting the car on jackstands and sitting on my little rolly stool (a beer cooler would work too) I slid the caliper off (but left it hooked up) and opened the bleeder screw slightly as well as opened the master cylinder. I laid the caliper on top of the brake assembly piston facing up, then used my biggest wrench to turn the little cube thing. (a big craftsman 1/2 inch drive ratchet with a downsizer to fit the cube in) The big thing that helped me was afew whacks with a rubber mallet first, then I pushed down as hard as I could and turned. Try to turn TOO hard and the cube slipped out. I chewed up the cube a bit, but I think it should last for afew more brake jobs. I agree with the theory that using vise grips on the OUTSIDE of the piston could do damage. My calipers were pretty nasty and the cube worked, so try a mallet too.

places water can get in on a weber?
If you are REALLY scared of water getting in... hell I guess you could seal with a bead of silicone everywhere the carb halves bolt together... though I bet you would have ignition issues before that happened unless your carb gaskets really suck.
