  1. I'm a tightwad, I say $50 but most yards will laugh at you if you offer that. Hondasucks and I traded a 12 pack of beer to a yard for one though
  2. Unless they can prove otherwise, as I do with all my projects, plan on replacing the clutch, all engine seals (hell maybe even the head gaskets just to be safe) Its alot of work to swap all that junk over (I can do an interior pretty quick now, but the first time it takes awhile) I would say $400 if the car will run and drive, if they cant prove it will $300 Ask me about what parts EA82's need if you want. I have rebuilt many of them (1 turbo, 2 SPFI, 2 carbed) and done maintanance on others. I am doing a carbed one that I got from Edrach this weekend in fact.
  3. Good luck finding that glass, I know its hard, I remember when me and Tex went glass hunting... finally found some on a DL or GL coupe..
  4. If you decide to sell off this one, I know where there is a white mid/late 80's virgin hatch waiting for some kind of lift / conversion. Good body, wont pass emissions, but thats not an issue down there... slap a weber on it, lift it and enjoy! The guy wants $500 and it comes with a pushbar which you could either modify or sell to recover some of the cost of the car. Located in Milwaukee OR 97222 (I am willing to lead you to the car if you want to see it someday)
  5. I took it off as part of the weber swap... my opinion, not needed, though you may lose a minute amount of fuel economy as vapors are not reclaimed... instead they just escape.
  6. EJ22's have between 135 and 142 HP (factory spec from the brochures) and EJ25's have 165 to 167 I belive.
  7. Hmmmm fuel filter maybe?? What kind of gas mileage are you getting?? When my old hitachi carb was going out I got bad mileage AND had trouble on hills, not so much on these hills, but going 65 on the freeway with a headwind was hard in 5th gear. Now hmmm whats my record... 103 but had to slow down for traffic, maybe coulda hit 110 or more
  8. I'll give you $300 for it and a pizza if you deliver it to me in Oregon
  9. EA81 hatch with a weber and good cam, welded rear, a t-case with 8-10 inch lift. Probably 8 inch for me since I dont like really high vehicles. Of course have a 5 speed d/r rather than the old 4 speed.
  10. Whats so special?? its PIMP!! Its this tacky red velour on a black interior with matching red seatbelts... its so ugly its cool!!!
  11. Why must you tease me Everyone knows I want one of these interiors (though not yet, need to get a suitable wagon to insert them into)
  12. Hard to tell what it says on the tranny, looks like PRND32 almost... but where is 1? I forget what it says on the 4 speeds, there IS a 2nd gear hold button or something right? I think both inside and out its ugly... poor RX needs a 5 speed again all that tacky stuff from autozone removed. I bet my 87 GL is faster
  13. So... I have always wondered since I want to build up some super-subie someday... how do you insure it?? Is it a stock RX to the insurance company with liability only? Or do you get full coverage and document all the mods "just in case"?? Seeing all the pretty toys going on I am guessing the second route, but am still asking. :-\
  14. I dont think of it like area 51, but more like a jungle... sometimes I wonder if there is a 360 hiding under that pile of leaves over there Not quite under the flight path? you musta just missed it, maybe its more over jantzen beach / hayden island... been afew years since I've come in/taken off from the west side of PDX
  15. I got there at like 5:10... everyone had pretty much gone, but I still got to see the shop Maybe if I woulda brought a pizza Sean woulda given me some free stuff... like a turbo kit or something Ok maybe not, but that would be cool huh?
  16. I say get the discs, I agree that its nice that you can hose them off, but my reasoning behind doing it on my lifted brat is that its stopping power wasnt that great stock... throw some 28" tires on there and its downright unsafe... the rear discs kinda make up for the added rotating mass you have to stop. I have an 87 and an 86 GL... just moving them around my parking lot I can feel a huge difference.
  17. Hey $200 total is still cheaper than what alot of the yards are asking for 5 lug now... some want as much as $350 for the whole setup.
  18. I may have interest in the steel brake lines as mine are pretty old (near 300K) wouldnt hurt to have something a little sturdier. Just keep the price reasonable and I would buy some though.
  19. My 82 brat is bobbed 9 inches. Had the subframe over the muffler area been in better shape I coulda kept the rear roll pan area and frame rails of the tailgate section, but instead I only salvaged the bed sides and taillight areas and had to rebuild the middle section with heavy angle iron and other scrap steel. Looks ok, but was kind of a pain.
  20. Mudrat ("Mudrat79" I believe is his login), can make lifts up to 12" and will install them. His 12" lifted hatchback was used on the rubicon so the parts have been proven to hold up to abuse. He is located in Eugene Oregon.
  21. Use the spare tire well to your advantage... put the big rats nest of wires from the legacy inside a big box or sorts bolted to the tire mount and then have rubber grommets where it comes out. Will help keep everything dry AND make it nice and neat (until you open the box!!)
  22. My opinion... it doesnt need a light because it has a guage. If the guage is higher than normal (like ANY higher) then you should automatically know to check the coolant level. Just gives you a reason to check the guage now and then (I check mine like every few minutes... like once a minute if sitting in traffic) Even when I drive my mom's 96 impreza I still watch all the guages... just comes from having a car with 300K I guess you have to EXPECT stuff will go wrong and therefore catch it early.
  23. Try saying that again after he realizes he is in the flight path of PDX
  24. On 93-97 Imprezas they are the hardest to find. They totally appear to be the upper part of the black trim that surrounds the stereo. Much more stealthly than the 98+ (I know cause ive had a 96 and 98)
  25. Some early 2.5 liter engines (98 and afew years on later) outbacks and foresters tended to have some head gasket issues. Generally once they get new gaskets they are supposed to be ok from what I hear so if you find one thats already blown the gaskets and had em fixed then its pretty safe. Later years are pretty safe too (like the last 2-3 years) Also early (98-2000??) foresters had rear wheel bearing issues... something along the lines of they used impreza rear bearings. The fix is to use legacy bearings instead. Dont let those scare you they are wonderful vehicles and should last a long time.
