My Brat's new radio console...
Actually, Flo - I do. I replaced mine with a 4x6" Blaupunkt. But I had to buy a set of the silly things, and only needed one. I can show you exactly how to install it too, since I already went through that. Give me $20 and it's yours. I paid $50 for the set, so I think that's probably a fair price. And you get to see how I installed mine as well. Wasn't hard, but had to do some dremel work to the speaker, and it's spacer gizmo. GD

Xt6-v8 ?
Hey storm - XT6's have the 5 bolt legacy pattery, so the rims and tires wouldn't be a problem like normal XT's GD

My Brat's new radio console...
Well - I may put a "real" deck in some day - just don't have the fundage right now. I was going to, but then I found this, and thought - what the heck, might as well. Got it in a $25 wheelbarrow load of parts from a JY, so it probably cost me $2 or something. Works good, and a heck of a lot easier to tune than that silly stock radio that came in them. Analog tuning is just plain dangerous at 85 MPH (yes - the Brat will do do 85 - that's cruising. It will do 95 if you want, but that's ticket space ) GD

My Brat's new radio console...
I just whipped this up, looked at it, and saw how really cool it is! Figured it might inspire someone else.... What do you guys think of it? http://usmb.net/gallery/GeneralDisorders-Subaru-Pictures/IMG_0508 It's made from an '80 radio console, a loyale deck, and a kenwood trim ring (got that at a local stereo shop for free, since I bought some speaks, he just threw it in). 87 turbo mods, update (w/pict)
WOW! All that and she's still too slow for you skipper? Good lord, maybe it's time for an EJ? How about using an NA long block to up your compression? How about an aftermarket Fuel Injection system - something programmable? Custom intake might be nice too. Forged pistons? billet steel crank? custom cam? GD

lift kit
I beleive that was fabbed, and the guy who fabbed it wrote the directions too. GD

Sept 14th Hillsboro Rallycross
The one I sold him was pretty nice - except for dents, and no chrome, it had no rust at all, and the latch worked great. Yeah - I've seen yours Flo - better off just hanging that one in the garage for spare sheet metal, and screws. I doubt you could even sell if for enough to warrant the trouble to ship it. GD

ebay subaru
You could license it - at least here in OR. 1. never have I had a safety inspection done to any of my cars. 2. the emmisions thing is easily overcome by licensing it out of the city. No testing done there. Also - it might pass since they don't do visual inspections here. Besides that - people license kit cars all the time. They don't meet all of those requirements, so I would assume there is a way to license an "experimental" car - similar to experimental aircraft. GD

Maximum weight in Brat bed
The adjustable suspension is for more clearance, not heavier loads. GD

Maximum weight in Brat bed
The rated cargo capacity of a Brat (Directly from owners manual): "For the Brat, the maximum carrying capacity consists of two passengers in cab, two passengers in rear and 113 kg (250 lb) of cargo or any combination of passengers and cargo not to exceed 386 kg (850 lb). Do not use the vehicle as a cargo carrier." That should about take care of it. BTW - if you exceed these limits, you will wear out wheel bearings and shocks, and there is a possiblity of breaking the torsion bar in the rear. GD

Gen 2 brat dome light upgrade ???
To remove - pull off the cap (just pull hard - who cares if you break that peics of s!@t). The real removal is just turning it till you find the gap in the ridge that holds the thing on, then it should just fall off. But like I said - just pull, you won't break it. There's two screws underneath the cover... Never have figured out what they were thinking with that EA81 dome light. That's got to be the most worthless dome light I have ever seen. I mean - I'm in the ARMY, and I know all about light disipline, but that thing is nuts. What would you use it for? I can't even find the ignition with one..... Flo - already got one - installed too. You should have asked me - I've had one in the wagon for about a year. Put one in the Brat a few weeks ago. I did just get a map light from a loyale today tho - figured I would try to install that in the Brat as well. Could come in handy when off-road at night. Oh and the yard is..... well, if I gave away all my secrets then the place would be picked clean in no time. I'll tell you in person some time GD

Gen 2 brat dome light upgrade ???
Or you can do what I do, and go to the yards that are a ways out. I got a whole wheelbarrow today for $25. hehehe. There was carpet in there, along with tons of cables, some stock radio's two water pumps. About 5 axles, etc, etc. GD

requesting ea81 ignition lock *removal* how to
You need to tell us which type of lock you have. There's a tilt lock, and a non-tilt lock. They are completely different. GD

where can be the problem? bubbles in coolant?
head gasket can be fixed, but your problem may not be that. There are some coolant lines on the intake manifold, and you could have a leak there somewhere - look closer to see. If it's a head gasket, you can fix that by putting in another. Check for cracks in the heads, cause you will have to remove them for the gasket job. Oh - and get a manual. For bigger jobs like headgaskets, it will come in handy. GD

HELP - Broken Strut Mount on 83 GL
Yes - do nothing without the spring compressors. The springs are REALLY strong, and will hurt you a LOT if they get released that way. They get about 50% longer when not under load..... And Miles is correct about the strut caps - there's writing on them that tells you which way to put them in based on which car you have, what drivetrain you have, and if it's power steering or not..... GD

ATTN Tom2Turbo2 (Tom Durkin)
You should contact Brian (TheSubaruJunkie) - he may be able to get at contact information from EZBoard. I don't know for sure, but it's worth a shot. I live in Portland, so if you find some contact info on the guy, like an address or a real name or something, maybe I can locate him. GD

fuel cut eliminator circuit
Skip hates the banana - can't say I like it much myself. He has said before that he will not answer any threads using emoticons. I think it's pretty funny actually, but I must admit - a good way to teach people to stop using them, and get their point across with real english words. GD

angry at weber
Yeah - I've had to adjust the timing as well, but I still have the same problem you describe - when I give it WOT, it tries to die, and then takes off. Also - when I take sharp left hand turns, the engine dies completely. My weber came from the weber official kit, so I don't know why it should act this way. Thinking I may have to adjust the float level, and I am going to check the fuel pump pressure as well - it sure doesn't seem very high to me. GD

The first 4 gears are not the same - 4th is about the same as 5th on a 5 speed. The first two are shorter on a 5 speed too. GD
