  1. the ski wagon decals were only applied to the wagons that were supplied to the US Ski team and USSA. The Brat Targa Decals, and horizon stripes were "factory" decals/options. There were aftermarket companies that made decals as well, such as the Mountain Grizzly Decals that I had on my wagon... That same company alsomade some different colored ones with a different pic, and they were "Desert Fox" decals. both were made for a Hatchback. The ones like in your pic could have been put on at the dealer as well, but been supplied by an aftermarket Company. They did that with Topper/Camper shells. The local Subie dealer gave me a page from their old Subaru binder that showed all the Jericho caps you could get, and they would be available through the dealer...
  2. some more quirks: the 82-83 Brat had a 8" flywheel/clutch combo 84-87 brats had 9" flywheel clutch combo. 4WD-D/R wagons got the 9" clutch in 83 though. when I converted an 82 D/R tranny to a newer D/R I went to the 9" flywheel that matched up with the new tranny (and the corresponding clutch kit.)
  3. I'm not sure if there's enough room to have a chain between the tailgate and the sides. the side hinge/supports are made pretty thin so that they fit okay. they are pretty strong too. to get the same strength, you'd have to go with a decent chain... to support the weight of someone on the gate while it was open.....
  4. should be fine. I use the 'Y' insteave of the 'S' version.... it's identical, except it has the "V Power" split....
  5. Here are your options the bottom of the page has a pic of chevy 4x4 wheels before and after drilling.. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/wheels.html and this is what a brat with a 4/3 BYB lift kit and lots of hammering/cutting looks like with 30x9.50x15 tires on those chevy drilled wheels http://usmb.net/gallery/album93/tbnew2
  6. I use these... don't have to worry about losing the pin....
  7. yep. most beadlock wheels aren't DOT approved either.....
  8. Nicky, I can make you one. I have one in Illustrator format (.ai)
  9. yes, Subaru wheels... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/14-subaru-rally-alloys-chrome-closeup.jpg
  10. one good point, is by having the cable mount mounted "on the carb" basically, if you add/remove carb spacers, the mount moves with it and keeps everything lined up.....
  11. got the centercaps on today. the SUBARU name area was blank, so I created a dual layer vinyl name insert
  12. looking at the front of the vehicle from in front of it.... Pos Camber = \ / Neg Camber = / \ Looking at the wheels from above the vehicle, front of vehicle pointed towards you (think pidgeon toed, or walking like a duck ) Toe In = \ / Toe Out = / \
  13. before I put the strut blocks on, I kept testing them in the mounts to see where it was hitting, then grind that area... kept going until it was the bolts that were stopping inward progress.
  14. the ones I modified are on my 82 Brat, and even with the RX springs, and the suspension cranked all the way up, my front tires look perfectly straight up and down. my rears have more pos+ camber because of the torsion bar tweak... I won't be able to easily identify if I'm wearing the outside edges, since they were already worn from being on MtnGrizzly before...... (it didn't have the modified strut tower)
  15. it's sitting in the street right now. I really like those wheels on it
  16. takea look at this diagram. on the 4/3 kit, I removed the metal in the red area with a grinder. this allows the strut tower bolts to slide all the way inward as much as possible. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/diagrams/strutlift.jpg you also need to be sure you do the proper amount of beating on the inner strut towers to allow the spring to move in as well. if you oval out the strut tower mount holes, you will also need to beat the inner fender enough to make sure the spring isn't rubbing... do you have your springs adjusted up as well?
  17. and the answer is..... before http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gallery/86brat/before.jpg after http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gallery/86brat/after.jpg after lightening up the image to see the tires better http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/mick/gallery/86brat/after2.jpg I ended up going with 205/70r14 Dayton Quadra SE's for the tread pattern.....

  19. yes, there are some defects in that page... it was an inherited page, and never got any additional work done on it.... usually when you see the higher numbers associated with an ea81, it's a type, and they should have meant the ea82. it's especially confusing for 85-89 when both engines were available.... I have a 86 Brat, and it's not noticeably different than any other ea81 I've had.... also, there has been alot of talk about the cam differences, but in the 84 Subaru Parts manual, there are only 3 different listings, the Brat other MT 4WD's all have the same part number..... not sure about other years.....
  20. DAve, that's the exact same pressure my 86 runs at too. has for the last 11k miles since '99. the oil pressure sending unit is less than perfect usually...
  21. Daytons were what was on it before. it's either gonna be another set of those or some Cheap Kelly Metrics.
  22. I've been leaning towards the 205's too... so what does european styleing on the tires mean? one of the sets I'm looking at list that as a bullet point......
