  1. I would start with a new thermostat and radiator cap. These cars arent great heat generators to begin with, but it sounds like it just not getting up to operating temp.
  2. Sudden loss of compression after shutting the car off is usually a timing belt. The belt unloads develops some slack then jumps. Any idea on how old the timing belt is. Never go by the marks on the belts, they are handy but only the timing marks on the crank cam can tell for sure.
  3. The light is flashing to tell you on the previous cycle there was an electrical fault. FWD may or may not have an affect. Three drain and fills may help but the final outcome wont change. Do fix the throttle sensor. What year is this and how many miles?
  4. Its a cv coint. The boot can be fine but the cv can be bad. No need to be concerned about TB. Change the fluid just to change it. The rear there are a few bushings that can be guilty. That would take a phyisical inspection. There is a differential bushing that goes bad on these and can make a deep noise over bumps.
  5. Maybe an idea for a bespoke shop in Brooklyn?
  6. I know i got the next to last set of rears for the Justy from subaru (They were on sale) but the fronts are impossible to find. On the BMW forums they cant find them for relatively young cars.
  7. Have McPherson struts started making cars disposable? My Justy struts are no longer available or made. Shockingly looking on the net BMW owners of not terribly old cars are discovering the same issue. Just what d we do, as most soon to be classic cars have struts.
  8. When I had a bike I used it all year. The Justy I wont even let it know I have a salt shaker in the house. The Justy has two black boxes that drain power, my alarm and stereo. I dont think the computer for the CVT takes any power sitting. From what Ive been reading on the web there are no bad ones out there, and everyone seems to use the same one just by accident.
  9. And happy Thanksgiving
  10. Winter is coming soon. Any recomendation on a good automatic Battery Tender for my 89 Justy. Are the solar ones any good? The car lives in a driveway, I dont have a garage, but do have power available. Thanks.
  11. Your eyes are drawn to the brightest light. In this case the brightest would be the nearest, the fog lamps, rendering the high beams sort of useless to you without realizing it. Its a common thing unless someone doctors it.
  12. I have a friend who's sister owns this forester. She is tired of cleaning the tan/beige ish seat. She would like darker seat covers. Any suggestions, cost is mid range.
  13. My Justy's 3 yr battery lasted almost 4, but it wont hold a charge. The quandary, is it worth buying an extra fancy battery (yellow top) for a smple car that doesnt get driven alot, or a cheapo battery and a battery tender? I've been wallowing in self pity for the last few months so I havent been around
  14. Does anyone know if the multi use switch on the Justy is used on other Subarus or cars? I'm not paying 200 bucks for a nice shiney one.
  15. A Vacuum gauge will tell the health of your exhaust system. Those big pieces dont include the small peices you left all over the neighborhood.
  16. No. On modern HGs once a path is made for leakage it will just make it worse.
  17. The bolts are fine. And as long as you didnt over torque (total torque) the bolts the threads in the block will be fine. You will need new HGs.
  18. ABS works only when brakes lock up, not drag. I think your caliper pins are all rusted
  19. There is a FB page?
  20. I would go with a quality replacement axle at this point. Less work less mess.
  21. Don't ever EVER do that again. I almost had to go to the Outback board. Its bad enough being a moderator there with all the "He said mean things to me" emails I get.
  22. Pop the hood. See two coils and 4 spark plug wires thats a waste spark ignition system.
  23. Luckily its a simple car suspension wise, but your stating it seems worse just adds some importance to the situation
