From the good people at *gag* Toyota (source Autoblog) A social media tool and soon-to-be mobile app, the trail tracker allows you to find and upload info on trails across the United States. And it isn't just for wild, rocky hellholes either (that's the 4Runner on the Rubicon Trail above) -- you can upload and find scenic drives and fire roads that lead to great surfing spots. If you want the world to know what you did when you got there -- or how you manged to get out -- you can post photos and video to the site, as well as upload GPS data. The Trail tracker website is live now, with about 29 trails nationwide at the time of this writing. It's intriguing that one of the vehicles that led SUVs out of the wilds and into suburbia is now playing the Pied Piper to lure folks back into the woods. At least now maybe we'll get to see what it's really got. http://www.trailtracker.com/ nipper

This can be either a simple repair, or an OMFG HOW MUCH repair. Dont pay them untill it is looked at by someone. The pulley is held in place by a bolt on the nose of the crankshaft. To keep the pully from just spinning on the shaft, there is a "key" that sits in a keyway (slot) in the nose of the crankshaft and the inside of the pully. When this loosens up, it can ruin the end of the crankshaft. This is not a repair for the faint of heart. Even the experts sometimes shy away from this repair. It may sound simple, but it can be ruinous. Here is another thread on it http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49495&highlight=keyway There are quite a few threads on this topic. nipper

Hrmmm. Good news is the car still has a warrenty. Could it have sunded like something came loose, then the car was dragining it, then it finally fell off? Could it be that you picked up some road debree and dragged it? This is an automatic. There is not much there to come loose and be chewed up. There is an inspection cover down there. Its not a biggy if it is missing on an automatic. There is nothing in the bellhousing that this could be. its possible a bolt came loose and got spit out, but even that I wouldnt sweat. Keep all your documentation on this incident just in case it happens again. nipper
