  1. They have a little counter weight in them. The only real way to find out is to do a control hard stop and see if they hold. Pulling them out fast doesnt always work. nipper
  2. Sometimes with used automtaics, you have to bite the bullit and rebuild the clutch pack while its on the bnech. The same way that with a used engine you re seal it and replace the timing belts while its on the bench. This is because you just don't know its history. good luck nipper
  3. Thanks, there is the main relay between the switch and the rest of the car. I am confident that is fine. The ignition switch makes sense. Last time I had to replace one was a 79 civic. nipper
  4. Are the switches seperate from the lock cylinder, or are they one unit ? Wouldnt surprise me at this mileage, and in all honesty, didnt even think about that nipper
  5. Blu now has 225,000 miles and change. At 191,000 Blu got a new engine, and a new Engine temp sensor. Last week Blu started twice then immediatly stalled, twice in a row. The second time he cranked like he sounded like was out of gas. Since his fuel pump had been screaming for some time, i replaced it thinking this would solve the problem. He was also cranking a bit longer then i liked, but that went away with the used fuel pump. Today, twice in a row, Blu would fire up, then I would take my hand of the key, and he would stall. After counting to two, he fired right back up and ran like the champ he is. Since he never technically started, there is no code thrown nor stored. When he would stall, it was electrical in nature, like i shut the key off, as opposed to a stumble. Since he runs like a champ (just did NY to baltimore and back on saturday without a hitch), i am a bit short on ideas. If this was an old chrysler I would say tha ballast resistor is going bad. Any ideas, or do i just replace the crank position sensor now and cross my fingers. nipper
  6. hrmmm The fuel tank is split in two, a left and right half. The right side has the fuel pump, the left has a "jet" pump (siphon). If your fuel filter is clogged, it may have an effect on the siphon action. Do you recall the fuel level at the time? nipper
  7. Newer plugs, depending upon what they are made of, should nOT be gapped (but you can check them if it makes you feel better). They come from the factory pre-gapped. You trying to gap them may actually brake the plug electrode. nipper
  8. To me it can also be a tuneup. At 120,000 miles your due. If you dont have ignition wires, you should replace the boots that connect the coils to the plugs. Plugs PCV Fuel Filter After that we have a good baseline to see what is going on. nipper
  9. *starts broken record* HID is so much more then plugging a lightbulb in a lens. They have a differnt light spectrrum, and need differnt lenses and reflectors to properly refract and focus the light. http://www.aa1car.com/library/hid_headlamps.htm nipper
  10. Those are illegal too. What condition are your lenses in? When i hit the deer I had to have one headlight lense replaced (with a new one). It made a world of differnce. nipper
  11. er um .... er oopsy guess i am just lucky. My gasket was rubber and looked in good shape. Maybe you dont have the old gasket well seated. nipper
  12. It took me 3 days to get rid of the fuel smell. reset the CEL and keep an eye on it. I just used a pair of pliers, and used a screw type clamp on the center one. nipper
  13. I did this last week, replaced my fuel pump. I had no issues. Did you tighten the bolts in a star pattern? nipper
  14. Tranny dluid has probably never been changed, so discoloration isnt a big thing. Just get it serviced and it should be ok. nipper
  15. Aftermarket axles suck bigtime. you need to get one from subaru or from the prefered supplier, which someone here will mention. Did you replace the springpin? nipper
  16. It's any easy fix BTW, I had the same problem. It may be that the hatch handle has not returned to the normal position. Also spray the hell out of it with penetrating oil, that should unfreeze it, but you need the new hardware. nipper
