There was a new HG out in 2003. I think your blaming subaru for a dealers error. The dealer should have sent back or trashed all the old stock, instead he decided to use it. Many people here have had the HG issue resolved and a handful had them fail again. Causes were 1- not milling the heads (very impoortanat even if it looks fine) 2- Using non OE parts Subaru can sell the deale as many new HG as they want, its up to the dealer to not use the superceeded design. This is a dealer error. nipper

http://www.cars101.com/subwarr.html Or maybe not, Seems things have changed . I could have swron cats were 100K. First thing to do is unbolt the cats from the engine and take a drive around the block. If you notice a differnce its the cats. Next is to hit a COLD cat with your hand. If it rattles its dead. nipper

Soobies want the plugs that are recomended for them. If I remebr correctly its not the bosch. They are very picky about this and ignition wires. The spark system is a waste spark system. This means that 1-2 and 3-4 always fire together. Get the proper plug. If its running badly it should throw a code, get the code read. This will give us a better idea of what is misbehaving. nipper

Speaking from the OE perspective, there is a huge counterfit hardware probelm out in the market, which isn't getting addressed (yet). OE doesnt do 100% QA testing, and buys hardware on certificates. Three guesses where the counterfits come from, and the first two don't count. Very few fasteners are made in the US. Even Boing's dream liner got caught by counterfit fasteners. nipper
