  1. Have some faith in us. 98% of the 420 codes on this board have been a bad o2 sensor. The o2 sensor (if original) should be replaced with the cat anyway (as long as you are there). You wont be waisting money by replacing the sensor, and yes the front one should be an OE. Secondly, that is way too cheap a cat. It also looks like a cat for a turbo (i am not sure). I wouldnt buy one off ebay. nipper
  2. I just wanted him to start with the cheap stuff. If the sensor fails, you will loose AWD if its an automatic. If its a manual, you will go into limp mode and have all sorts of weirdness going on. If its an automatic and loose both, you will be rev limited and the car will stay in third. nipper
  3. Its either the sen sor or the Spedo head itself. First i would remove the head clean all the terminlas and screws, and see what happens. nipper
  4. Run away from it if you have to ask what the ABS light being on means. The SVX with mismatched tires, is very bad, An SVX already has transmission issues. Now throw in mismatched tires, and your really adding up the bill. You can swap in a Legacy transmission and rear diff. SVX is a wonderful car, but there are nicer models around that you can get for decent money. Wheel bearings are a bit fragile (rear). Wait for something better. the SVX engine should not have a tick, unless its been beat upon. the engines age gracefully. nipper
  5. At 22 you may be able to do it if your back is good. I would suggest you and a freind. nipper
  6. Another stupid question, why two? I thought with a sub woofer one was enough? nipper
  7. What makes you think you actually have torque bind. Forget the light. What is the car doing. nipper
  8. Air in the system or a blown head gasket. The fact that it is "boiling" makes me wonder if its not a head gasket. What do you mean the gauge hasnt been working, and that the thermostate isnt working. Dont let the car run unmonitered. If you have a cooling issue problem, you can or may have fried your engine. nipper
  9. Lots of suggestions on this do a search. rattle, exhaust noise, etc nipper
  10. I am poking around the back of Blu, and i had a thought. On the passenger side there is a compartment used for "stuff". Can i stick a subwoofer in there? And again i know nothing, soooo it would require its own amp too? nipper
  11. im weak with the electronics, but the basic electrical and tranny/power transmission stuff im great at (clueless about car steros) maybe i should look at finishing my degrees in this stuff thanks
  12. Man that sucks. The way you were talking i was hoping it was workable. With the other two just send it back. Glad you renamed the thread, it will help anyone search and come up with this thread. nipper
  13. I've heard of one or two, its very rare but it does happen. Manually shifting into any gear overrides the TCU control. SO the car should move in low or 2nd gear at the very least. I'm sort of surprised that it moves in reverse. It has happepend enough that there is a endwrench peice on it http://www.endwrench.com/pdf/drivetrain/4EATMovementInfoS01.pdf nipper
  14. horn cruise control is the clock spring. Heated seats and mirrors most likely a fuse or relay someplace. no reason the heated mirrors both shouldnt work. Heated seats the drivers upper half may not work, but the lower should (will work on high but not low). Yes you can put a 2.2 in place of a 2.5, the years someone else will chime in on. the 98 should be a dohc as the 99 is the sohc. nipper
  15. It can be standard. What mfg's started doing was removing the return springs on the gas gauges. nipper
  16. What kind of warrenty are they giving with the tranny? Why do they have the tranny to begin with? How many miles on the tranny? Dealerships arent set up to rebuild trannies beyond the AWD unit or clutch, and they dont like doing that kind of repair, thats why i tell people to go to them first. It's twisted logic but it works. nipper
  17. YES! or a more substantial mount. Otherwise i like it nipper
  18. ild feel better if it had some more trailing bracing. There is now more torque forces on the mounts, so they may bend if there tires or anything try to go over something. I hope that was clear. nipper
  19. That will do it. You may want to do that to all the big fuses, as they live a very forgotten life till something like this happens. nipper
  20. yes it will. the car cant tell that its warmed up so it stays in an open loop program. This means the car is running according to programmed values, and not according to real world conditions. It can make your gas milage take a dump. yes the better way is called a wrench :-p nipper
