Just one thing to point out, the timing belt has a mileage OR time interval for replacement. The time interval is 7 years, so they were correct to replace that. I would check for air in the cooling system first, then have it checked for a blown HG. You may luck out and it may just be an air pocket. nipper

Too much oil?

Well leaky fuel injectors can make it go up too, but not that much. At 3 qts you would have noticed a huge drop in gas milage, or antifreeze a hot running engine, or worse case, a big paperwieght that used to be your engine. nipper -

YOu shouldnt need a dolly with a manual with a dual range. The dual range should have a Neutral between low and high. That disconnects the driveline from the transmission. nipper -
I may here it going bad in this car. You may hear it going bad in this car, but the owner of the car may not notice the sound, as it slowly creeps up, and doesnt really get bad untill the bearings are ready to self detruct. And i just re read the post, and he doesnt mention anything about the calpier slides, so thats some place to look at too. nipper

I am coming into this thread late, and havent read all of it but ... There comes a time to stop taking educated guesses over the net, throwing parts at the car., and take it to a dealer and let them diagnose it. http://www.endwrench.com/pdf/fuel/FtEmissionServiceS01.pdf there is one thing to look at. Have you soaked the engine with water while its running to see if there are any vacum leaks? You need someone that can check the engine parimeters better then most of us can do at home, like the dealer. After all the time and effort that has gone into this, its time to let a dealer look at it. nipper
