  1. crank angle sensor itself never fails since its in a nice dry happy home, unless the dist beariings go bad then it will just give you an odd idle. Still the ignitor. Try and get them from a scrap yard from a bent car. If the car is straight a bad ignitor may be the reason its there. Otherwise they are a bit pricey nipper
  2. its the igniotr in the distrubitor. I had this in my GL and it drove me nuts till it finally quit all together. nipper
  3. three causes of this delay rubber seals in the d/n/r valve bad accumilator bad front pump. Once slipping starts it is basically too late. nipper

  5. for some odd reason it back feeds to the fans. Its a quirk of the circuit. nipper
  6. change the fluid it may help, but thats usually only with shift harsness. Sadly this is a differnt animal. You may have years like this, you may have months.
  7. they should be the same, but worse case scenario is they the bigger engines may have more power, never a bad thing. nipper
  8. probabaly a hairline crack in the coil tower of the coil pack. Replace the wires first, but this is usually the begingings of a dying or damaged coil pack. nipper
  9. the tranny is going. The slipping is a delay between forwar and reverse. The inner seals are bad. This will just get worse with time. sorry nipper

Just means you have to use the fan more. It moves the auir flow up and over the roof and reduces the air pressure pocket at the base of the window. Back window deflector, if you have a rear windsheild wiper, thats good enough. It does help keep it clear, not clean, but adds drag to the car and can slightly lower gas mileage. nipper
  11. well there is a good news/bad news thing with parts. Good news si that since not as many people need them, they dont stock up many of them so the prices are higher. heheh maybe thats why ford prices are so cheap, they have to make so many spares..... nipper

  13. For those who have ever wondered what the AWD repair costs Parts were 459,78 Labor was 510.50 The extra part was a tranny mount at 95.00. Surpirsingly they rebuilt a cv joint for 250.00 instaead fo replacing the axle like i thought they would. They said it looked like the tear happened in the last day or two. Bonus was they fixed all my loose heatsheilds for free. When i bought the car the previous owner was quoted 400.00 to replace the heat sheilds. The dealer said they just rewelded them allThey said the car ahs some minor leaks (well duh) but is otherwise in great shape. nipper
  14. your making asumptions - this is a electronics problem. Electronics have wires and solder joints smaller then a human hair. it doesnt take much heat to make them fail. Let the car warm up, ************ it off then try to restart it. Another scenario. Let the car sit in the hot sun for several hours then about 2pm try to start it. nipper
  15. he is in a catch 22. The cel only comes on when the car is running, and when its running, it no longer has the fault. nipper
  16. maybe higher. Japanese taxes are based on displacement, not horse power. They are really good at getting a stupid amount of HP out of small engines that no sane man would think of having that much power come out of. nipper
  17. 2.2 is 60,000 2.5 is 105,000 miles. Ca cars are 105,000 for 1990-1995. i cant explain why except for state regulations. about emissions.It is probably a differtn belt due to california emissions laws. www.cars101.com shows the footnote under maintanece scheduale. nipper
  18. dead spedo is odd on that year. You have two VSS sensors. If one goes bad, the other takes over and the cel wil come on. At this point you will have no AWD so be careful. A dead spedo would mean both are dead. If all these happened at the same time check the wiring to see if anything is damaged. DO you think your running on three cylinders or another issue. CHeck the electrical stuff first. These cars are real dogs on three cylinders so i doubt its that. You dont complain of no acceleration. Pull the codes and let us know. nipper
  19. exaclty what does it do when it doesnt start? You need to get a no start condition, and then check the cam and crank postion sensors for a heartbeat, and check the ignitor. Also check the fuel pump relay. nipper
  20. new old doesnt matter, it still sounds like the solenoid. Take it back. nipper
  21. HG is only a price point is if the car has a bad one at the time. Buy the car and enjoy. after its checked out nipper
