  1. the ghetto system is a very bad idea. There is a bounty of 10,000 dollars for releasing freon in the air. If i saw you do it, i report it, i would get the money not the goverment. Thats how seriously they take the freon issue. Do the repairs yourself and let a shop fill it. nipper
  2. Hyanes has nice wiring diagrams including the cruise and everything else you stated. nipper
  3. i could have sworn i answered this question before. There is a thermo switch in the ac system. This switch is most likely bad. I dont know if sooby AC systems have circuit breakers that automatically reset, ill look that up. The problem is heat sensative, and that switch operates by monitoring temperitures. I'll answer more fully later. nipper
  4. you can always add hose to the vent tube and raise it higher to avoid this happening again nipper
  5. yes. There is electrical theory behind this that i will post later, i have to go to PT soon and not one of my better days.. There is a reason why there are things called wire trees. Its to keep the wires seperated and induce a current in an opposing wire. nipper
  6. well pre 95 sucks anway, And hes right. If it doesnt have a really HUGE dent, odds are its electrical or the transmission (manual or auto) and the rest of the car looks decent nipper
  7. it may not have power, but it can climb a tree like a squrrel. Go to the off road section and poke around there nipper
  8. well maybe if you have a speech impediment Also dont the japanese have no R in thier language, it could have been rex here rex here rex, come to my driveway rex nipper
  9. if the car goes up on the lift for repair, no matter if it is 5 minutes or 60 minutes you get charged one hour. Most shops have a sign stating 1 hr minimum charge nipper
  10. its chicken soup, it doesnt hurt. The reason its not incuded is because the front brakes do 80-90% of the braking, so the rears dont get as much heat, so the pads dont rattle as much Ive never used the greas, i just use the shims and everything seems fine. nipper
  11. they all use a solenoid, going back to the first awd system, that plus a spool valve insdie the transmission. nipper
  12. If you know what your looking for, and depending upon how far along it is. You have to crack open the case to see its damage in all its glory, but driving around in tight circels will tell you immediatly if you have TB. If it is just starting you change the fluid first, as that can usually make it go away. It uses tranny fluid to operate like the rest of the transmission. nipper
  13. your car has a puter, it has two modes, open loop and closed loop. Open loop is when the runs off of preset programs. When the car is warmed up it runs in closed loop. the car is now communicating with all sensors and making decisions. Limp home mode is the car runs on the bare essentials cause iot has a component failure or is getting information that doesnt make sense to it from its sensors, or the car isnt reacting as it should. never ignore a blinking light, be it a cel or tranny temp light hope that helps nipper
  14. no no no and no SUbarus dont have any hidden horspower. They are free breathing as it is. You dont get extra power by adding fuel, you get extra power from more air (thats how turbo chargning and nitrous work). Add more fuel and not enough air and the car will run like crap. Also you may throw the car into limp home mode or worse it wont run. Then there is that entire over heating the cat converter can car cacthing fire thing. There are headers but no one uses them because of the previous fact. your biggest power loss is the automatic tranny. you should have gotten a manual. nipper
  15. ditto. When i had the fwd fuse in my OBW it would hydroplane fairly easily with brand new tires. I took out the fuse and it drove like it was on nails. Glad no one was hurt. Inspect all the body gaps to check and make sure the car isnt bent. nipper
  16. ok here are a few possbilities. Press the horn button what happens If you hear a click then the problem is probably the horns themselves. If you dont hear a click its the relay, switsh or if it has an airbag the clockwork spring in the steeringwheel can be the issue. nipper
  17. there we go that enitre mertric thing again at least you state hp. Legacies have more power www.cars101.c0m nipper
  18. HAHAHAHAHA you said it right there. Its an automatic. ANything you do is pretty much wasted. Also these are economy cars with the extra weight of AWD. There are lots of posts her on the same thing (do a search). We would all love to see a chip for subarus but no one has a real chip, just a lot of money robbing thngs that hurt the car. Maybe a turbo is all you can do or a supercharger, or down hill with a tail wind. nipper
  19. can somone do a test for me, im curious about something. Can somone please do a hard reset on the computers (bettery disconnected over night) and see if it goes away. I want to see if it is a design fault of a learned fault by the computer, nipper
  20. Ok everyone go to the nhtsa web site and report it. it seems there are a lot of 99's out there with this issue, and yes a broken spedo is a safty item. Even if you dont thnk it is a saftey item, let the nhtsa make that decision not you. nipper
  21. try tapping the thread. Trust me you dont want to get just an new housing. once you take those seals apart you have to replacethem then the bushings need inspecting, have to work clean it snownballs. il'd rather see you rebuild your own automaitc tranny then a rack. Screw up a tranny worse thing that happens is car wont go. Screw up a rack and you cant steer. nipper
