  1. OE. Slotted rotors are good. Drilled are bad unlkess your 100% sure where they are coming from (same for slots), which ebay your not. They crack easily. nipper
  2. Rarely fuel pump. You need a pressure gauge on the fuel line to see whats going on there, i bet its one of the sensors. Fuel pumps seem to run forever. Knock sensor? This is where my expertise gets a little thin. Have you cleared the puter and reset it? Just because the CEL isnt triggered doesnt mean there arent any stored codes. nipper
  3. Could be the flexplate then. There sint alot there to make that noise, starter drive, flex plate, heat sheild. Never take a sensor with a hole in it:) I think they mean the red light on the ecu. nipper
  4. connecting rods (no push roads on an OHC engine) is a deep hollow knock. This can be a heat sheild, can be the starter drive, can be any number of things. Bad bearings dont sound tinny. How many miles on this. Does it change with the clutch or eingine rpm nipper
  5. Ignitor wont do this. Knock sensor can do this. You can fry an ingitor by leaving the car "on" and not running for a long time. The ignitor will make the car buck and kick stall or not run, it would be like running on 2 cylinders. This sounds more like your timing is changing. nipper
  6. in my 98 leagcy if i drove like a sane man i would sy 30-38 mpg. Too bad im crazy:banana: nipper
  7. dissconnect it? I find glass sensors are far more easyier to live with then shock sensors. Odds are if they tow the car away, you arent going to catch it. nipper
  8. There are a six solenoids in the tranny. He is talking about the solenoid that operates the lock up torque converter, the duty b solenoid. nipper
  9. How many miles on this thing, and i dont recall the puter reading the oil pressure switch? How is your charging circuit voltage? Im suspecting a supply voltage probelm as there are some really odd ball codes on there. Didnt know the system read the ac pressure either Somethig doesnt sound right, i cant even find where those things intersect with the ECU on the wiring diagram I know the ecu could care less about the air conditionining. It never reads that. I know it reads the AC relay and the AC diodes. nipper
  10. Ive installed the tweeters, it makes a big difference in sound. odd how my car had the premium sound system but no tweeters, its an easy install. Spark plug wires are OE, Plugs are OE (but not from subaru). Oil filters OE can be competativly priced with aftermarket, just dont go cheap. Use a brand name. Oil can be anyones, same with antifreeze tranny oil etc. Pads and rotors, unless your upgrading the rotors, use OE. Pads can be either, but never by the cheap ones, and go with name brand. DOnt turn the rotors as they dont always like it. Dums can be turned (but it rarely is needed) Anitfreeze every 2 years, tranny fluid every three (your tranny will love you). Do not use tap water in the cooling system, use deminerilized water, or pre mix. Timing belt, pcv and thermostat OE. Never use chemical flushes. General rule of thumb when replacing a part, if the original part lasted over 100,000 miles, replace it with OE (as they must be doing something right) Timing belt, for your car every other one replace cam seals, main seal, water pump tensioner and oil pump seals. At 200K (or near it) by your car a gift of a new oil pump. Watch your temp gauge, dont let the car over heat, and it will run forever. If it does overheat, change the oil when you repair it. if you see your temo gauge go 3/4 up, the ac cut out, then go down, you have a clogged raditor or the fins have fell off. All 4 tires should match and be within 1/4 inch of wear around the circumfrence. Keep them inflated the same. Thats all i can think of. Im sure somone will chime in and say im wrong (that never happens hehehehe). nipper
  11. Welcome to subarus and the forum. TPS is a throttle position sensor It is a variable rehostat that tells the car and the transmission throttle position. nipper
  12. That is the FWD Fuse. When you put a spare fuse in that holder the FWD light will come on on the dash. You use this fuse when you have the spare tire on thr car, or the car is going to be towed by the rear wheels (which is no longer revomended, a flat bed is). The fuse energizes the Duty C solenoid, which in turn kills the AWD completly. nipper
  13. are you talking the individual fuse holder on the passenger side of the car towards the firewall? nipper
  14. yes they now put rev limiters in the puters so the forced upshift is no longer needed nipper
  15. Thanks ill read it later. I have zero torque bind and the car is shifting fine, so i am a bit puzzled. nipper
  16. Just the last time i did it on a non cat car i smoked out the neighborhood nipper
  17. could be vent hoses Pulling it out it may seat properly but when activated electrically it may not. Does the starter look new? nipper
  18. 1- chewed up start teeth means the drive is rubbing against the flywheel. It can be a tired or worn drive or tired solenoid not allowing the drive to come all the way back in. Fuel pump is in the tank, but it is SO easy to get at. I would look at the fuel pump relay first (hrmmmmm). The pumps are fairly bullit proof, and you cant tell anything without a pressure gauge. nipper
  19. In the US they stoped making the justy as we know it in the early 90's (94?). it was a unique US spec. The justy is alive and well in europe but its a suzuki metro rebadged. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Justy nipper
  20. Alas i think i have to the blue to the sooby doctor. This just started todaym, and doesnt do it all the time. Start the car, the tranny light flashes 16 times then goes out. Duty C Solenoid? I have no torque bind at all and still under doctors orders not to do anything (and the 1 year mark is coming up oh joy). So do i have to take out the plastic or what? nipper
  21. if not a sticky, post it in the conversion section under conversion help i am sure they will apreciate it nipper
  22. sounds liike a modern marvelous mystery oil nipper
  23. lakeside shell (trenton/hamilton) used to work on my car all time when i lived in that area i liked thier work nipper
