i have used the split boot repair kit with no problems, but a year later i had to replace the axle due to contimantion. Its hard to clean the joint without pulling it apart. There are many good aftermarket cruise controls out there. I do recomned though that you get the either an optional vaccum pump or the fatory vacume pump, otherwise the cruise control will keep disconnecting going up hills. nipper

The RWD part of the drivetrain always spins no matter weather the fuse is in the car or not. Is your starter fully disenagaing after you start the car. Does the car do it in neutral or park? Does it do it when you have the car in drive, fott on the brake, and give the car gas (dont do this for more then a few seconds). nipper

Do a pcv valve, and sometimes its normal to have a cloud of smoke come out when you get on it. My 97OBW is doing it , and it seemed to satrt with the relaxing of gas standards. The only thing i can think of otherwise is an 02 sensor, but in all honesty, i would not gte too frantic about it. Try a tank of Ammoco premium and see what happens, or some other brand name good gasoline. nipper

Automatic trannies dont grind when the go, or start going. Now that being said, at what RPM does this start. Is it RPM dependent or speed depenednt. If you pup the car in neutral at speed does it go away. If you downshift to drop the engine rpm under the threshold does it go away. I dont think its the transmission. You also have a carrier bearing and a couple of U joints under the floor ro the RWD. I would look there. nipper

Rubber mallot test will just tell you if the cat is rusted out. How many miles are on the car ? A drop in gas milage can be bad o2 sensors. I think the two sensors check the cat performance, before and after. With the drop in gas milage, are you also feeling like the car has lost some performance. Depending upon the milage I would suspect the O2 sensor/s . nipper

There is a spec ofr side to side clearance in the journal of the connecting rod. Dissassemble everything and check all the specs too. It is possible that one crank journal is a different size then the others. nipper

You can by a rebuilt rack. In warm weather a leaking rack is not an issue. In winter they can be real bear to drive until the rack warms up, if the internal seals are shot along with the outer ones. i dont know how long you can keep adding fluid to it. Depends at what point it starts leaking on the exhaust and smokes you out of the car. nipper

Well if you dont know the last time you changed the filter, you just change it . The light under the PRND21 you have to partially disassemble the console, which is not all that hard to do. I think you start with the two screws under the center arm rest then it comes apart like a jigsaw puzzle.... im not sure been a while since ive seen one from 93. nipper

I'ld have them do everything while that are there. Replace the waterpump, I usually replace the oil pump after ten years. Have them inspect the cam seals and main seals, replace if they even look the lightest bit tired, replace the iming belt. If you do all this, may be pricey, but then your good for another 80K miles. nipper

Yes oddly on a number of cars that I have, more so Japanese, the barke light would come on way before the battery light would come on with a failing altnator. When it got real bad all the idiot lights would come on... except the battery light. It may have to do with the type of failure it was inside the altenator. I think the battery light comes on if its a bad regulator, not a bad diode. nipper

Why not try heli-coil thread inserts? nipper
