  1. Just got home from work. Good to hear it was just a fuse link, and now you know half of the ignition system of a EA81!!!! Sorry for leading you into the dash, but glad it an easy fix.
  2. When you connect that sensor wire to the starter on wire (the small one) does the starter turn or do you have to turn the key after the wire is connected? That sensor wire must be getting a current when used. If the starter is turning just by having the key on and connect the sensor wire to 12 V starter on, then hot wire the car and tell me what happens. #1 Most likely the car will start by using three small wire leads. If that works your ign switch sucks, cheap fix. Splice the on lead (the one that lights up the dash lights) to the ign switch, just rip out the wire that cranks the starter at the connector. Buy a 25-50 amp switch and make shift it to one of the holes that lead into the dash. Hook up those two wires to the new switch and there you go. When the key is no fully use the switch to crank the started. If the car car won't start, still a cheap fix as well but you will need more stuff. Got to go to work for awhile I'll check back when I get home. Good Luck!
  3. The soob will start without thoses wires connected. Try hot wiring it. if that doesn't work plan B. Check the connection and then swap the relay. OR go to napa, get 14 gauge wire, a 50-75 Amp manual switch and a inline 30 Amp fuse link. Tell me if you have a multimeter or test light. I'll be more than happy to help youu threw this if you want me to.
  4. Those wires that are linked threw that connector go to the trany, not to the starter. The starter only needs three inputs. Ground, Equal Pos Lead, and a 12 Volt On The ground is taken care of without using wires, the bell housing is the ground. The positive lead is under the boot leading to the battery. The 12 volt is the smaller wire. Here ya go: How to hot wire a EA81 Subaru Remove the lower under dash shield, the one right under the steering wheel. Unplug the connector that sticks in the back of the ign switch. There should be four wires if I remember correctly; an alwalys hot from bat, an acc on, an on, and a starter feed. Do some testing with a small wire to find the hot from battery. Complete the circuit to the acc on and on using two wires from the hot, then spark the starter feed with a third wire.
  5. Okay, I'll fix the engine. When I made the first post I was not in a good mood. Right now there is a EA81 taken apart and waiting for rings in my small apt. I know when I get some other projects done I'll be more then happy to take the head off and figure out what happened. Ya, she's worth it... I will make my brother clean the gasket at least!
  6. Just got my 85 GL-10 2wd Sedan running well. Re-sealed the engine and a bunch of other stuff. My brother needed a ride untill I fixed his damn ford, drove it about 250 miles in one day, for the last ten miles it ran without water because of a hose leak he ignored. The thing overheated and blew the intake and head gaskets for 1-3. I figure there is a good chance that the head is completely %$#%$ I had a spare set of intake gaskets lying around so replaced those and ran the engine, not good. Should I even take the time to do the head gasket and find the head to be useless or should I just try and fine a used 85 MPFI which would be hard from what I understand. Input would help...
  7. Just don't fix everything at once, then you'll have a honda
  8. Good Call, Screw Cali Import Intake systems! Plug it up.
  9. If the fan is still running when you push it into maxa/c then try recharging the system with new oil.
  10. Got it! That's for the help, I went ahead split the block about five inches removed the lifters and caps then removed the pistons. I wasn't that hard after all.
  11. No I do not have the pistons out yet, I couldn't get the pins out. Do I need to do that before I take it apart?
  12. So I'm trying to re-ring and re-seal my spare EA81 but can seem to separate the block. Yes, got all of the bolts. I started to use a cold cut and hammer on the front top, got it to move a little but just about popped a chunk off . Any tips an helpfull hints would be great! Jeremy
  13. Thanks Jeff, after that last run I'm thinking about getting a lift before next time. Both half shafts are knocking HARD, got something on the clutch disk so it was slipping like mad, and I was leaking gear oil everywhere. Took a long long time to get her back to Bellingham, but once I did I ordered a carb kit, engine re-ring set, new brakes, and halfshalfs, go bye pay check! I'm thankfull that the 84 Hatch ended up in my lap now I have no reason to swap the d/r, get a lift, and get the wagon primed in a month or so. Just a few more days and then it's off to school with this beast. Jeremy
  14. I'm kicking my self right now!!! Killed the wagon trying to do this Iron wongleflute trail, she's sick and will need a lot-o-love before it's on a trail again. Sorry guy's but have fun. Damn!
  15. That book is a Trans/Engine/Gear Box SS right? There should be a smaller one with a blue or red cover with the auto transmissions. Your shop sould have both.
  16. Just past Deming on the Mt Baker Highway, take a right onto Truck road, then a right onto Mosquito Lake Rd, and then a left on North Fork road. All the way at the end of North Fork there is a spilt, on the right there a bunch of loging roads. It's worth anyone checking it out but 4wd and good tires are a must cause it gets steep. On, the left there are a ton of off-roading trails, a lifted wagon or hatch with 15''s and mud tires is a good idea, but I run it slow stock with big heavy snow tires and some tools. On the 10th I'll be up there at noon and thought it would be a good idea to get a few of other wagons out there. Maybe eat a nice lunch in the snow! Then tear some roots up. Chanel 2 will should be free for us.
  17. Meeting at North Fork, on the 10th, noon! Last day for the Rubber Buster to have any fun for a long while. Went to go ckeck it out today and can't wait to get a mob of old school subbies running together. She's so damn lonely by her self
  18. Went and did a quick run up and down the loging roads then hit a few really small trails. Never got up to the trunk trails but will try to head up Tuesday with a buddy. Damn, what a day, picked up a 84 GL hatch for a parts car this morning, $25!!! So if any wants some of the small stuff just ask. So frigg'in ready for this week end!
  19. Right On!! I'm going to go and scope in out after work and see what's been done lately, kind of get a game plan. If I can talk my girlfriend into loaning her sugerdady some money I go and get a kick'in come-along, some skidplate metal, and maybe even have her make a killer lunch.
  20. Here's what I've got in mind, North Fork at noon. I'm quiting my stupid job at a stupid lube shop and moving on to a parts store and full time tech school. The last day I'll be able to have any damn fun is the 10th, after that it's sleep, school, work, seven days a week That is a good cause to raise some mud, all over the place!!! Who's in?
  21. Don't use fram filters. Replace the drain plug copper gasket EVERYTIME or you have a leak. I think that the 02's have a skid plate, if it does you will find three retaining clips in the front. Use a small flat head to pry the center plug thing out don't bother trying to unscrew it. Any more question just pm me.
  22. So here's how it went... Just me and two buddies took both the subbies. By the time some other guy got there the state'rs showed up and sent us home, but still got some good vids to show what a stock EA81 can do. Number 1: Number 2: Tell me what you think!!!
