It's looking good, but could use a winch.

If you ever need aftermarket part numbers just send me an e-mail or give a ring, I work for a parts store a couple of hours a week and have more subie sense, not so much with all the other parts guys. Things to know: 1800 OHC, tell him either vin code should work for tune up parts. Although getting your engine vin number would help. What kind of disty do you have? There are I believe three for your engines; Hitachi thru 11/86, Hitachi from 12/86, and Nippondenso. Oh yeah you get four rotors to choose from! For the cap you need to know if you've got clips and a screw type. For the rotor you need to know if you've got an oval and more square one, and how high does it sit in the disty, is it an automatic? Wires and plugs are all the same. The oil filter is the same for all 1.8's, the air is listed as the spfi 1.8. Any other questions or if you need me to get you a part number just ask JeremyWeaver@Softhome.net

Driving in the mud is right up there with the best of them! My girl loses out to it most of the time.

Sandlake Oregon Dunes August?
MudisFun replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
How did the trip go? Pictures? NF was great! Set up orange markers on the way there and ran into two groups of lost people thanking us for doing so. No more getting lost! Went down to the shore for the first time, took the chance and headed down past the little stream. The Northern Washington group should get together for a bbq before september ends. I have to get a set date, but late next month somewhere south pre-Seattle, would probably work best. Let me know what you think. -

It's going to be great to have another Subaru in town! Give a ring once you get into B'ham (yep that's what we call it). I'll keep my ears open for a place that is cool with pets. Jeremy (Mud) 5108518 Andy (Uncool) 7338583 -

What kinds of questions do ya got? -
It is a bad idea to let anyone stand behind your shoulder while you vent r12! Releasing r134a is legal is most states I think, but venting freon should not be done, with anyone looking. If you talk to a shop that has the machine to evac r12 and it's pure, I'm sure they would be more than happy to.

Pulling the Hornet's engine
MudisFun replied to stephenw22's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nope. If you run in to anything pm me. Here's some thing to think about. Are you going to replace the valve seals? If so, you'll need a spring tool. Replacing the piston rings will raise you compression. If the bearings turn out to be shot, who will be able to get them for you quick. -
The main fuel filter is pre pump and is located on a mounting plate, under the wagon in front of the tank, pass side.

It's always good to know that subaru owners are hip and can reseal their own motor!

N/W Wash Offroad Run Aug 13
MudisFun replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Here's the pictures Andy took. The pot of gold. Dan had his first run with his 87 EA81 Hatch. This Yoda tried six times to make it up this hill. I made it second try! The tire got some a tree Random Pictures The best 'stuck' of the day, camera started to wig out but the bottom of the tire was four feet off the ground. In a month there should be another run down that trail, I missed out and so did a bunch of others. Amanda and OneEye, you are both being forced to come. Jeremy -

Valves: Replace or just grind?
MudisFun replied to Ross's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I will always try to grind the valves and seats down, you will know if they are worth it only when you are able to see the grinding pattern. If you come up a couple short I know I have a hand full of good ones. -

Valve Cover Gasket Sealant question
MudisFun replied to erikvr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
For the self sealing gromets use nothing. -
Egr, it's all about heat. To keep the amount of nox down, the bad stuff out the tail pipe, a little bit of ash is thrown on the fire. I don't remember the exact figure but nox can be made at only a crazy high combustion temp, reburning exhaust is about emissions, nothing else. From what I understand you can get more power without egr but you will lose the smother burn.

This was the quickest offroading trip I have ever made.

Carb, Elect Carb, SPFI MPFI
MudisFun replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have finally gotten to the point were I understand the 2bbl. Got her tuned!!! But when I think about, SPFI is the way to go, you may have wire everywhere but you don't have to worry about cut out when you drive on a wall. But the MPFI is just a head-ack, no matter how wonderful it works there is no room to get your hand anywhere. SPFI is the way to go:banana: -
New addition to the family!!!
MudisFun replied to Adam N.D.J.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Props Adam! Uncool says gratzsssz! It's good to know some one is stepping up to be a man so others don't have to, thanks. -
This sounds like something I've done before!!! So add one more to the group. Ran the car at high rpms for ten then opened up the exhaust enough to let big fire balls shoot up the intake when I closed the carb. I'm sure there are better ways but you won't get fire balls!
