I think I might see what gm has to offer. I might see what Leece Nevile has as far as an alt. that might fit also. I really don,t want to get to costom on the brackets, but, if it comes down to it I'll do what I got to do!

I'm not going to be running that kind of power all the time, just for the occational times when I need all of that and for "keydown" competitions. As far as leagality on 11 meters, no coment

Got a 60 amp in there now. my volt meter drops to about9-10 when i key up even at 4500rpm wow I just also oticed I'm a usmb reguler and not a new user any more!

yeah, I never have used the ac, but that was in colorado. I haven't spent a sunner in north carolina yet! I am willing to scrap the ac if I need a second alt. I'll look into the gm alternator. the set up I'm going for for the cb is going to hopefully put out 2000-3000watts of power when i key the mic up, and i am planing on adding two mor batterys in the back, so I,m looking for the most amperage I can possibly get out of an alt.

The barings might have to be pressed out. If yout hammering on them for an hour and nouthings happening they need to be pressed out

What is the most powerful alternator I can bolt into my 91loyale wagon? I'm currently running the stock set up and I need more power to run my cb as 1000 watts isn't enough for me. I have 2 extra batterys hooked up in the back of the car and they help a little but I need more amperage. Has any one ever hooked up duel alts in a subaru befor? Any info would be gladly appreciated.

No snorkle? Why would that make any difference in any thing? I know guys that run snorkles just for the reson that it raises the intake up out of the dust quit a bit. Any way, the catyletic and pre muffler should be considered a spark arrester, unless you gutted the catyletic, you should be leagle as far as having a spark arrester. as far as a muffler, a glass pack would probly make it quiet enough, but if not i know parts stores sell decent hi porformance mufflers for under 100$ whitch beets a factory muffler. you just have to fab up a way to hang it all up there

tHE TOYOTA 8 " rear axle is set up exactaly like a ford 9 " real easy to work on and bullit proof. I used to wheel a toypta IFS truck. a little scary at times, because you can only get so much flex out of the front end. All the flex was in the rear. the front tire would pick up all the time and then just drop. I think the next toyota I get, I'm not even going to mess with the ifs, for the price of a ifs lift, I could have done a solid axle conversion. that sasid, have fun and there is no way an ea81/82 will ever break a toyota 8" axle

You can cut the springs, but its not a good idea to do so. You are much better off putting uncut springs in now and lowering the car the right way when $allows it. Its better to be safe than sorry. by cutting the springs, oyu are also cutting the rate the spring can handle, giving the car worse handleing than if you left them stock. It will bottom out easier, and the springs will be worn out alot quiker. -
Man I miss Colorado! Thats a fun area back there. Used to run that area quite a bit in a 88 toyota I had when I was living out there
-
yeah i used to have an 88 toyota 4x4 pick up when I lived in golden. that was a mandatory stop on every trip to and back from moab. I knew it looked familiar

The RX does fine in the snow, with the right tires.
mudduck replied to Nug's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I drove my loyale with worn out street tires on the front and decent snow tires on the back and never noticed any bind, though you mentioned that you had different size tires on the car. -
Thats pictures around grand junction, right? Near the bookcliffs and the gj desert

Go with toyota 8" rear axle. They are bellit proof and easy to work on (set up just like a ford 9") With a ea moter and 31 you will never have to worry about breaking it, I have seen 38" tall tires and build v-6 used with these axles on some preety tough rocks and they hold up well. I never had a problem on my 4cyl toyota, even when it was locked up 4:88 gaers and 35" on it and I ran that truck hard

Yeah i agree i bet it does sound better that its hung up there. Plummers strap. metal strip abput half to quarter inch wide with holes drilled down te center. You can find it at any hardware store and make a good sturdy hanger with the stuff.

Deepest water for a stock soobie
mudduck replied to Beavis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have had my 91 loyale in water up to the top of the headlights before. One thing about these cars is they will start to float i had an 86 brat that we went playing in and i remember one water hole that i got into water over the hood and up to the windshield, the engine kept running amazingly but i remember having a hell of a time getting through because i was floating! Just remember, if you do stall the engine in a water crossing, DO NOT TRY TO RESTART the engine until you get pulled out and have made sure there is no water in the engine. bending a rod or hydrolocking in the woods is no fun. Any ways, have a safe jurney -
BF goodrich makes an all terain in a 14" rim size. they are fairly aggesive, good in the mud, snow rocks, have a three ply side wall and are very good on pavment. Oh yea, you should be able to grt 40-50,000 miles out of a set.
