L-series options
the 85 and 86 year models of the 4wd wagon had adjustable struts from the factory.... its only an inch, but every little bit helps... i would say that your best bet in finding any of these would be at your local junkyard..... as these things are pricey from parts stores....( last i checked it was around $175 per corner )

4/5lug, brakes, springs
i have heard from my mechanic that there is a legacy conversion kit for the xt6 allowing the user to install legacy struts front and rear... so, if you were to say do the 5 lug swap, you should be able to do the legacy swap, then your spring options would increase significantly....... just a thought.....i'll see what i can dig up on that swap....

ita actually really easy to do, all you need is the rear disc trailing arms and some time... its just a straight swap.....and it improves braking alot.....

Locked Rear Questions
as far as easy access to removing an axel, has anyone ever thought of using somethng like a hood pin design? that way u could just pull the pin and remove the axel... no more rotating of tires to get to the pin....just a thought

down grading an EA82T
if your gonna swap motors for something more reliable, why not go for an ej22 instead? prolly the same amount of work, but you end up with more power and more reliability....
