  1. i've entertained thoughts of using one for offroad purposes, but i prolly wont go there since they are still relatively new and i wont be able to get one for cheap.... but i havent heard anything bad about them yet..... plus, they sound cooler than the 4 cyl. when u open up the exhaust.......
  2. welcome to the board!! we always like getting more people in colorado!! any plans for the car? street or offroad style kinda things? this is the place to do it!!
  3. need to get my wagon in good running order then go bust some donuts!!! looks like fun!!
  4. just something i did differently.... instead of disconnecting the brake line from the caliper, just carefully cut the brake line holder peice on the strut, and then bend it out of the way.... do the samr with the new ones when you install..... wont hurt anything, and you dont have to bleed your brakes when you done..... just dont cut the brake line!!!! i used a small hack saw to do the job, worked like a charm.
  5. if i could build a frame for the legacy i would be stuffing some jeep axles under it with a long arm set up.... about 8" of suspension lift would be good.... just think, 35's under the legacy with only suspension lift and solid axles..... mmmm tasty........:brow::slobber:
  6. anyone ever thought of using motorcycle carbs? that way you could make it one per cylinder...... make your own intake and have at it.... you would have to connect them all together somehow... say a cable per side to make each side open and close together, and then a rod between the two sides to connect everything together, or just alot of linkage..... could work, it mgiht take awhile to get it to run right, but it would be pretty sweet.....
  7. rs is cheaper, plus i can take the header, intake and flywheel from my wagon, since i bought all 2.5 stuff for it, and transfer it over with ease...... although i wish i could afford a sti, or even a wrx. i probabaly could, but i would be living in the car..... not the best of ideas
  8. if its the motor thats bad in the legacy, and not the turbo, try swaping all the turbo parts to the 1.8 and have soem fun with it... i know its been done, and it should all just bolt up......just a thought.
  9. looking to upgrade within the next year or so from my 90 legacy to an 05 rs.... is there anything that is problematic with these cars? did they fix the h.g. issue? anyone have any suggestions? likes, or disslikes? im trying to get as much info from the community as possible before i make up my mind...... any and all oppinions will help and are welcome. thanks!
  10. really wish i could be there, but its on a sunday, so no can do........ we need to set up a saturday meet sometime..........
  11. more like rally cross setup.. im running the outback struts with lift springs soon to be installed, and im running kumho venture m/t 27-8.50/14 tires.... the gearing has gone south a wee bit.... need to get the acceleration back..... hopefully the motor i plan on putting together for it will help some as well...
  12. from what i've heard you wouldnt want to.... my buddy is running a stock alternator on his rally car and he powers 4 Hella 4000's without any problems... i dont think that a xt6 alternator would do that......
  13. clutch is usually the one people want more, so i would say its better. As for telling which it is, or if you even have one, jack the rear of the car off the ground and spin a wheel. If the other wheel spins the same direction, you have a lsd. i dont know how to tell what kind of lsd it is, but im pretty sure that all the legacy models came wth the vlsd type......
  14. i'd be interested in hose gears if they dont fit... i got a legacy that needs shorter gears..... 4.44's would do the trick....
  15. thanks for the info guys, everything has been helpful!!!! i might check out that electric deal so i can at least have heat until it warms up and then possibly more time to fix the real problem, again thanks for the info guys!!!
  16. finally!!! anyway, im wondering how long it will take to do a lsd swap from the 3.7 into the 4.11 rear diff....... i can get ahold of the tool to take the stubs off, but then would i swap the 4.11 gears into the 3.7 case? or the diff middle into the 4.11 case? the snow is killing me, i want to go drifting!! but the rear end doesnt like to come out to well, so i figured its time to do the lsd swap.. any and all info will help, thanks guys!!!
  17. well, its a little chilly to be doing this outside, and my dad will want to know how long im going to have his garage if i do it inside, so, how long will it take me to change out a heater core on a 90 legacy?anything i should look out for?
  18. honestly, they just arent made for that kind of use..... i wouldnt try it, but thats just my opinion.....
  19. on the rx7 rally car we had a hella 500 mounted to the rear bumper wired into the reverse lights.... just pull the bulbs for the reverse lights and the power is sufficient. worked like a charm......
  20. get em both, rip em both apart, and use the 2.5 crank in the ej22t motor, effectively turning it into a 2.35? and giving more power and torque with the reliability of the 2.2.....
  21. depending on price, i would definately go for it..... or if you could get one from the gen 1 legacy that would work too......
  22. you could use them for offroading, but im not sure if they would work very well... they are a rally tire not an all terain or an m/t..... but you could always try......
  23. i wouldnt mind getting my hands on one of those FT4WD trannies from the early 90's legacy..... that would be sweet....... i'd just about pay anything for one of those.........
