Forester with 4" lift and 29" Super Swampers
offroadsubaruguy replied to Forester_Ranger's topic in Off Road
i would definately drive that forester, but only that froester...... maybe i shall have to get me one so i can do something kinda like that with mine, then i'd be ok with it, but not a stock one...... -
i remember you told me once already, but how much for the outback/legacy lift?

the only turbo kit i've seen is made by avo, and i think that it was around $4,500 to buy it, comes with everything you need to bolt on and go, but i think that it would probably be cheaper to do a wrx swap instead.... its up to you.... check http://www.rallitek.com for the turbo kit, thats the only place i have found it anyway.....

im running 27 inch mud terrains. it did down my gas mileage some, but since everything is off now i can tell exactly how much.... oh, and i got em for around $80 a pop off of tirerack... kumho venture m/t...... you will only get stuck by getting high centered with this tire. that is the only way..

has anyone else thought of using svx halfshafts on their newer offroad rigs? after a certian point suspension lift, you'll need longer halfshafts right? well what about svx halfshafts? they are longer, and they should fit into just sbout any newer subie right????? just figured id check my ideas on the board.....

i am currently running kumho venture m/t 27-8.5/14...... cheap, they work better than anything else i've seen, and they dont make too much road noise....

heres another one for me... my fiance wants me to ditch the wagon and go for an suv.... so my new reasoning for lifting the wagon, it'll be just as big as an explorer, have more ground clearance, and you wont have to climb into it. plus it'll be cheaper than any v8 on gas....

on a non lifted rig, i have never had any problems with the newer models, i have broken strut tops on the older ones though.... other than that, nothin wrong.....
-
it all depends on what your looking for.... exhaust, if you have dual port heads, you can use 2.5 exhaust headers, or y pipe, from there back it should fit no matter what. internals, i have heard that the heads will fit, but the cams by themselves wont fit into a 2.2 head ( kinda iffy about that one ) flywheels will swap, so it all just depends on what it is you want to do and how much money you have to spend.......

every once in awhile my idle drops and my car tries to die. it jumps back up before the car dies, but it kinda bugs me...... any ideas? its a 90 legacy wagon, with a manual, and a weapon r intake setup..... it has been going on for a while, even before the intake was installed, but more often now that the intake is on.... im stuck here, im outta ideas.....

simply put....... i understand the jeep thing, thats why i drive a subaru!!! plus, its just fun

if i remeber correctly, you cant really use a mbc on subarus because its all done by the ecu.... i have heard of instances where someone tried to use one and it did nothing because the ecu will basically override the mbc and only stick to that which is programmed... however, i do know that you can reflash the ecu to allow more boost. safe limits? i would say that 20 would be safe, but im pretty sure the motor can take at least 30, the tranny is a different story though.....

if you can find a 5spd d/r then you can swap the trannies, but the 4spd wont work, less splines on the input shaft i believe... as far as final drive? imprezas have the 3.9 in them, which makes out good since all d/r trannies are 3.9....

i think the only real difference is the horsepower and torque, but i could be wrong...

first suggestion, ditch the muffler, go cherry bomb. it might not make you go much faster, but it sounds awesome when its in the higher rpms...... second, either modify the air pan you have, or get another one and cut the sides off. from there it all depends on what class you want to run... i would think that any other modifycations would class you in at least g2 ( group 2, incase you didnt know ).... but either way you'll have a blast, i wish that i could get my new wagon down to some rally crosses, but sundays are just not a good day for me anymore so i have a hard time getting to em...... have fun and enjoy the car!

im driving a legacy, that will have outback suspension on it..... so kind of a mutt if you will......
