  1. how much did the lift cost? im definately interested in a lift, although, i'd like a 3". a 4" might be a little much for me, i dont want to have to change too much......
  2. hey, im looking at changing out my old yellowed headlights from my 90 legacy wagon. i was wondering if anyone knew if i could use some from say a 95 or newer model, because i have yet to se a set of those yellowed and ugly......
  3. other things you can do is try getting ahold of some outback struts, that'll give you about 2 inches, and if you dont mind making new holes, you can even run the outback springs, giving 2 more inches, then you can run more aggressive tires after the strut swap, its a lot o fun.......
  4. i want to use newer headlights, like something off of a 95 or newer legacy. the ones on my 90 legacy are just crap.... i've looked at the two, and they are close, i would have to change the grill, but im not going to run a grill anyway. the hoods might be different.but i wouldnt mind running a 98 outback hood either.........
  5. in my parents neighborhood, i believe the number is around 10, and my parents own at least 4 of them.myself, as of now i own 2...
  6. i would think that so long as you granny drive it and stay out of the boost, 89 wouldnt hurt anything. of course, elevation has a big part in it as well.....
  7. if you have the big box before the intake manifold, you can actually put the air filter there, cut the back half off, then open the hood scoop.... it does add quite a bit of noise, but it also makes a difference. not a huge one mind u, but every little bit helps right? im also forgeting that he had a 2.5 w/ map instead of maf, so that might not work.....
  8. im all about someone making a lift for the legacy here in the states, shipping is less that way.... although, mine will be a bit tricky....... since im gonna run outback springs, i need to change the bolt pattern for the strut top, which requires me to redrill holes for them to fit...... which then means, custom rear blocks.......hmmmmm
  9. or just some really huge ballloon tires will do the trick.of course in order to get them to fit you might need to lift your forester, but no biggie right?
  10. if your really worried about it, just change it out.... but i would say that as long as the belts stay on, it sohould be fine
  11. i dont know personaly, but im running 27" mud tires and i still have plenty of room, so i bet they'll fit.
  12. that all depends on what your used to..... right now i have the ob springs, but i dont have them in yet, but being stiffer than the stock part, it should cut down on the lean factor some....
  13. im switching over to steel braided brake lines, since i noticed my rubbers are really squishy, but thanks for the info guys!!!
  14. how much fluid do i need to do an entire brake system flush.....i dont want to go to brake 's plus cause they screw ya, just like every other brakes place...... anyway, rough guess would be good...... thanks
  15. you dont need the scorpion springs, i bet that the stock outback springs will make it pretty stiff..... and yes there will be a difference in the stock legacy springs and the outback springs..... enough to make a noticable difference.. if you use the outback springs, you will need to re drill the rear, doesnt matter if you use the scorpion springs or not, they're just different..... the legacy struts are conical ( they are smaller towards the top ) whereas the outback springs are the same size all the way up....
  16. i know that on early model legacies you need to use the original spring and strut top.... unless you re drill the mounting for the rear strut top, the holes for the the top are spread out more for the outback.. and if u use the outback strt top, u use the outback springs...
  17. is it possible to swap 2.5 cams into a 2.2 head? i figured since you can swaqp 2.2 and 2.5 heads, you might be able to swap cams, i just wanted more possitive input before i bought cams for a 2.5......
  18. did you try unbolting the rear sway bar first? i couldnt get the outback struts to fit in ther rear without unbolting the rear sway bar first....... the fronts went in just fine
  19. with the scorpion stuff, you'll get about 2" with the springs, and 60mm, or approx. 2" with the body lift..... its also kinda pricey, but i dont know of any other options, so.......
  20. i have already done this mod.... it works, you just need to use the stock legacy springs, and you will be fine.... if you were to use the outback springs, you would need to re-drill some hole in the rear as the rear strut top is different..... but if you use the stock springs, no problems at all....
  21. i do know that pro drive makes a kit to do that with the gen 1 impreza, for rally purposes..... i dont know how much it would cost, my friend has a catalog from them.... they sell everything..... you can build a complete impreza from that catalog......of course us suby offroaders being cheap, i dont think that would quite be what ur looking for, just thought i'd throw it out there....
  22. i finally got the tires on..... so now im running outback struts, and 27" m/t's.... my rear diff clearance is now just over 10"....... the rear caster is off quite a bit.. im gonna have to fix that problem soon...... im also thinking of trying springs too.... start working on the rear end this weekend..... i'll update when im done....
  23. all ej22's are sohc, even the turbos..... the only dohc's are the phase 1 2.5's, the wrx, sti, and the eg33.... im not sure but the 3.0 might be dohc as well
