Look on ebay for a Nissan Sentra cone filter and adapter. Thats what I used, and it bolts right onto our MAF's. Definatly dont let your engine overheat! That is a sure way to kill the motor. -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to NewDriverOlderRide's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Up in the top right corner, there are 4 links. Home, Forum, USRM & Photos. The USRM is our Ultimate Subaru REpair Manual. Check it out, i'll give you a direct link to the ECU stuff, but theres a ton of info stored in there. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49918 Save yourself $85. -Brian -
Welcome to the club. Get used to being razzed, imagine what all the jeepers tell us when we show up on the trails with one of those things lifted running swampers. Its even worse than what your co-workers say. -Brian

WCSS8 Registration Page
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Dr. RX's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Already got my time off. I'll pre-register when i have the extra cash. I know it doesnt sound like alot, but im soaking every free penny i have into my hatch. I will make it to the show, if i have to i'll pay at the door. Chances are i'll pre-reg, is there a cutoff date for that? -Brian -
rwd is it hard on the transfr case
TheSubaruJunkie replied to HATCHY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Our cars dont really have a transfer case. It wont do any harm to run in RWD. -Brian -

Not many aftermarket parts are readily available for these cars. But, being a turbo, you can adapt almost any aftermarket part for other turbos to work on our cars. my RX includes: Saab 900 Intercooler Saab 900 Bypass valve (you dont want to use a Blow off valve, use a bypass valve instead) Go Fast Bits manual boost controller Subaru High Comp Pistons Magnacore 8mm race wires Others have installed Fuel Pressure Regulators, aftermarket pumps and some have even gone as far as installing aftermarket injectors. SubaruTex had done some pretty extensive modifications to his RX, but then he sold it off. WJM has also gone above and beyond with his RX... but he keeps blowing them up. I myself just finished rebuilding my motor, and I dont feel like doing it again, so ive removed my boost controller and kept with the stock turbo. Stick around, and you will learn alot about that motor of yours. -Brian -

Cant find rims to save my life. **FOUND EM!**
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
Awesome, thanks Mike. I may have to paint some fenders too... so i will definatly go get me some of that paint. Im also gonna be getting the Kumho's for these rims. Maybe I should install my WRX scoop and make a twin of your Hatch? Do you still have that thing? Any chance we'll see it at this years show? -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to skishop69's topic in Products for your Subaru
It would be best to contact them. We wouldnt know. -Brian -
Yeah, you retain the EA81 4wd selector. But the rest is EA82 stuff. I thought there were 1pc EA82 shafts, but i could be wrong. I Got a PM from Jerry that cleared things up a bit. Hopefully Jibs can get everything wrapped up, tired of seeing his brat sitting in the garage -Brian

changed thermostat, rough idle
TheSubaruJunkie replied to 76mgb88rx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like the AAV was disturbed. It resides ontop of the thermostat housing. -Brian -
RX springs for an aditional 1" front lift.
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
Thanks Mick -Brian -
Im gonna be putting my 3/3 lift on my hatch. IM wondering if RX springs will add an inch in effect making my car seem like a 4/3 lift? Has anyone put RX springs on their EA81? Do they fit the EA81 struts well? Also, would this effect my camber? I dont need to be eating away the outside of my front tires. -Brian

Also check and make sure your ignition coil isn't starting to die. That and your spark plugs are good and not creating a short somewhere. -Brian
-
Use a EA81 Auto. I hear they're better than EA82's. -Brian

I cant read a thing, even if I do download the images -Brian

We're trying to use EA82 stuff for the shifter... but the mount for the actual shifter lever has no way to bolt up to the EA81 body. And he's using the EA81 flywheel, so i hope those washers work right oh.. and do you HAVE to use the 2 piece EA82 driveline? Would a 1 piece EA82 driveline work. He's doing this to a brat. -Brian

Looks like you had fun. You should invest in a copy of PhotoShop and crop those images down. Even with my 21" monitor im scrolling all over the place to view them. Could only imagine the poor saps stuck with 800x600 res. -Brian
