  1. Take some rope with you next time. Remove a spark plug, rotate the crank until that piston is at the bottom of its rotation. Feed the rope into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. Fill the cylinder with rope. Rotate the motor until the piston tries to compress the rope. It wont be able to, and it will lock the motor in place and allow you to remove the crank pulley. -Brian
  2. The links probably wont work until after the weekend. Gotta make more progress on the hatch so I have something to put up. -Brian
  3. p.s. Dialup users might wanna get somethin to drink. Its pretty graphic intensive. -Brian
  4. Well, its been a while since i did anything with my website. Today I made a new front page for it. http://www.subaru4wd.net I have to make individual pages for each car... so forgive the 404 error on the links. Not quite sure how im gonna setup and design everything. -Brian
  5. ANd yeah, you will be losing something. Youre going to destroy a very expensive brush guard. Something you could get a few hundred bucks for. But, your right... it was free, why do you care. Except for the fact your car is gonna look like rump roast with a hacked up brushguard on it. -Brian
  6. Phiz... they label the 205/75's as 27x.8.5... but in actuallity they measure out to 26.1" in hieght. And they are say 205/75R14 on the sidewall. Not sure why they are advertised as 27x8.5, probably cause its easier for ppl to read and understand that. -Brian
  7. I did the silicone trick, and it worked pretty good. But 1st time I had to remove the cap I ruined my silicone job. The boot is simple and ive never ran into problems. I also ran a piece of hose from the vent, but instead of running it to the air intake I ran it to a clear fuel filter. -Brian
  8. More specificly... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=206940&postcount=3 -Brian
  9. We, as in the USMB http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59228 -Brian
  10. Since we were talking about snorkels and all, i thought it would be a good idea to bring up the rubber disty cover. Toyota 22R's have a rubber boot that covers the distributor cap. I found one in the junkyard, and it's almost a perfect fit. All you need to do is cut a small section away to clear the vacuum advance. Here's one I found on ebay, there are a few others listed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Pickup-Truck-4Runner-22R-22RE-DISTRIBUTOR-COVER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33550QQitemZ8072427399QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW -Brian
  11. I paid $80 for a block. I think a shortblock is just over $100 with no intake etc... -Brian
  12. 3" lift... and no cutting? Get 14" rims and go with the 205/75R14 Kumho Venture MT's. Or the COoper Discoverer STT in the same size. 15" rims, you can find some swampers but trimming will need to be done. -Brian
  13. You said this is a junkyard your getting the wagon from right? instead of getting the wagon, just get the wagons motor and tranny. Simple swap, and i sure hope a JY isnt gonna charge you $300 for that. -Brian
  14. I got my stickers! Thanks PK!! I just have to wait till i re-install my lift before I can put them on my hatch. -Brian
  15. Brilliant rick! -Brian
  16. Dont trade a brat for a wagon. -Brian
  17. Wow i cant believe how well those things fit!! -Brian
  18. A friend just turned me onto some GCK Axles. They are not rebuilt and are brand new. I havent found a retailer yet who carries them, and I hear they maybe special order. My buddy wheels his lifted EA81 and has had no problems as of yet. I have another friend who has some MWE axles. They look like some great axles, but his rig has been down so it hasnt seen much wheelin. Its a Brat with a 4" lift. MWE wants $85 an axle and $30 for shipping... thats $115 an axle, $230 for a pair. I cant bring myself to spend that much, i'll have to check with GCK and see what they want for an axle. -Brian
  19. Yeah, i would suggest selling it and using the money to buy or have one fabricated for your subaru. IF you hack that up, it may not look good at all, and you would have ruined a very nice (and expensive) brush guard. Slap it on Craigslist for a week, maybe ask $350-$400 and see who bites. Thats a huge brushguard, someone with a cruiser would love to have it. I'd keep the lights though -Brian
  20. I guess your right Zap. Now that I think of it, ive never killed a subie with its exhaust under water either. Only once, but that was cause I had 5 or 6 holes drilled in my cat (thought it was clogged). I was with you guys on that trip you mentioned above. Fun Times A snorkel wouldnt have helped much here, but this was enough water to kill my wagon. Water line came up just under the fan, and with the fan spinning it kicked water all over my disty: Shortly thereafter I found a rubber disty cover from a Toyota 22R and modified it to fit the Subaru Cap. Then I used a length of fuel line, and a fuel filter attatched to the distributor cap vent. It worked out great -Brian
  21. Would probably take 5-10 years to recoup the money you spent for the conversion, in gas savings. There has been talk of people doing hybrid projects with their justy's but I never saw anything streetable. -Brian

It shouldnt be too hard to do. Im sure you could come up with a way to mount it. I mounted a CB to the roof of my wagon, but the headliner isnt plastic like the brats... so it was as easy. -Brian
  23. Did you make sure to bevel those holes? -Brian
  24. Everyone wants his camera... that thing is probably what paid for all his cars and toys Good shots mav, for jumpin the mint '79, but definatly x2 for jumpin a subaru!! -Brian
  25. I dont think EA82T's have this valve you speak of. Maybe im wrong, but i know its not needed to do the swap. Check out the USRM for the details. -Brian
