http://www.usmb.net/movies/SoobmeSmokin.avi Ok. Its a 5Meg video, encoded in DiVX 5.1, so make sure you have it to watch this (and any of my) video. This is Soobme's Turbo Wagon with 27's. Earlier on this trip he busted a front half shaft, so we ripped the CV from the stub, and re-installed the stub giving him RWD. He also has a welded rear end as well so its true RWD I was able to make it up this hill as long as I kept momentum. Adam had absolutly no problem with the low gearing and his ER27. But Tony failed on the 1st 2 attempts. He was thinking of turning around, but Adam and I was able to talk him into it (over the C.B's... what fun!). I knew i was up for a show, so i grabbed the camcorder. And, well... the rest is in the video! -Brian

*more* Video of my Wagon off-road in Oregon
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
http://usmb.net/albums/albuo73/JunkieSoobme2.avi That one is alittle over 4Megs and its a video of Tony and I driving up the trail. Tony bombs up it with his Turbo and Welded rear end. My poor 2bbl hitachi did a great job of pulling me up. And here's another one... This one is of me getting stuck. Its 40MB, but it sounds better and looks better than the other two. http://www.usmb.net/movies/JunkieDirtStuck.avi -Brian -
*more* Video of my Wagon off-road in Oregon
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
Tony, i actually have video compressed of your rig and my rig driving up that trail where Adam's strut popped out for the 2nd time. that video is alot larger and will be online as soon as I get home. I also have video of when i tried to drive BACK UP that dirt pile, and got stuck. Those will all be up soon. Adam, i have alot of footage of your rig i need to capture still. And i'd LOVE to get that footage from you Adam. As you can see, or soon will see, your in every shot getting the best shot hahaha.. More to come later... oh, and you MUST have DiVX 5.1! If you didnt, these files would be 200MB+ -Brian -
I was able to get my hands on a cheasy PCI Video Capture Card for my computer. It isnt the best, but it works. The files are compressed using DiVX 5.1, the 1st video thats done is something like 6.5MB: http://usmb.net/albums/albuo73/JunkieDirt.avi I will have another one ready soon. -Brian

Yeah, the server that is running the gallery is a piece of crap. My 3 month subscription is almost up, and im thinking of moving to ViperHost, the server the actual USMB runs on. For future refference, none of the moderators here have any control over the Gallery. Shawn is an assistant admin there, but i have complete control over the entire operation (MWAHAHAHAHAHA) -Brian

Opinions on an RX
TheSubaruJunkie replied to toybuilder's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would go with alloys. You'll be happier and so with the RX. I might have a set of 13" alloys for you if you want them. Got any pix of the new toy? -Brian -
here's a dum question i guess
TheSubaruJunkie replied to edalexandr's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The dipstick for your 4spd is for the front diff. Use 85/90wt gear oil. Auto's have a dipstick for transmission fluid, your brat has a dip stick for the front diff. Every 4spd has one. -Brian -

Here's a couple idea's. 1) dont stir the pot 2) build your post count by contributing to the discussion (ie, NOT stirring the pot). My Brat will not be a ricer, it will be a rice eater -Brian -

EA82T Blowing coolant EVERYWHERE
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The cars not even mine. Im not going to spend my time and effort to replace the head gaskets unless i get all the money when it sells. If i sell it now, maybe my freakin roomate can pay rent. Ive done head gaskets on a EA81, that was easy. But it doesnt have 1/2 the crap this damn EA82T has. -Brian -
Well, time to get a new battery. I wanna get something for my Wagon that will have enough guts to run 8 lights, my CB, my stereo and still accept charge from the alternator. What should I do? I want to do the chevy alternator swap, but until someone does it and gets pix, and a write-up, i'll stick with the stock alt. So, what should I look for? Im stupid when it comes to electricty, expecially automotive elctronix. -Brian

EA82T Blowing coolant EVERYWHERE
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, i used a few swear words I never knew existed while just changing the radiator hoses. There's no way I wanna pull that damn engine to do gaskets. The thing will go to either the junkyard, or somebody else with time and money to replace the gaskets. -Brian -
I havent had a chance to do a compression test on the EA82T. I replaced the lower radiator hose because the old one had blown up. And when I mean blown up, it exploded. The hose almost blew in half. Anyhow, got everything back together, and it started up. It idle's when cold at around 2,000 rpm. I didnt notice any smoke comming out of the exhaust, but I did notice that with the radiator cap off, coolant loves to shoot out of the radiator. Its like a geiser, it'll shoot water a good 12" into the air, if not higher. What would cuase this. I heard blown head gaskets will do this. But wouldnt there be white smoke in the exhaust as well? Also, when its warm, the thing wont idle at all. If you let it die, it wont restart either. Damn Subaru left me stranded a block from my house. Tried to start it until the battery died, then came back with my '84 Wagon to jump start it, but i didnt need to cause the damn Turbo started right up after sitting for that long. GRRR -Brian

Alaska meet and greet
TheSubaruJunkie replied to northguy's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I had a problem finding subaru freaks in Anchorage. Most of them are a--holes. Not sure why, but everybody I met in Alaska (that I didnt have as a friend already) were very rude, but most of them were older as well and weren't interested in off-roading their EA82 wagons Wish I was still up there, looks like there's alittle more interest in it than 3 years ago. -Brian -
