  1. The dipstick for your 4spd is for the front diff. Use 85/90wt gear oil. Auto's have a dipstick for transmission fluid, your brat has a dip stick for the front diff. Every 4spd has one. -Brian
  2. Matt. You comming through Sac as well? Lemme know and we can meet up for lunch or dinner or something. -Brian
  3. Yeah, ive seen that page in the past. Found it while surfing eBay. Maybe i'll shoot them an email. -brian
  4. Subaru Styles has a very beautiful car. Needs to be fast too tho -Brian
  5. Will standard EA82 gaskets work on a EA82T? -Brian
  6. Looking for Head Gasket kit and whatever seals I need for the front end. Anybody know of a good place with good deals? -Brian
  7. You didnt rub me the wrong way, But there are a few thousand people on this board, and it only takes one smart rump roast remark to set off a few hundred people. -Brian
  8. Here's a couple idea's. 1) dont stir the pot 2) build your post count by contributing to the discussion (ie, NOT stirring the pot). My Brat will not be a ricer, it will be a rice eater -Brian
  9. Hrm. I wonder if that '86 RX has a body kit on it.... that would look real good on the brat coupled with the 15" pugs i found. -Brian
  10. The cars not even mine. Im not going to spend my time and effort to replace the head gaskets unless i get all the money when it sells. If i sell it now, maybe my freakin roomate can pay rent. Ive done head gaskets on a EA81, that was easy. But it doesnt have 1/2 the crap this damn EA82T has. -Brian
  11. Well, time to get a new battery. I wanna get something for my Wagon that will have enough guts to run 8 lights, my CB, my stereo and still accept charge from the alternator. What should I do? I want to do the chevy alternator swap, but until someone does it and gets pix, and a write-up, i'll stick with the stock alt. So, what should I look for? Im stupid when it comes to electricty, expecially automotive elctronix. -Brian
  12. Yeah, i used a few swear words I never knew existed while just changing the radiator hoses. There's no way I wanna pull that damn engine to do gaskets. The thing will go to either the junkyard, or somebody else with time and money to replace the gaskets. -Brian
  13. I havent had a chance to do a compression test on the EA82T. I replaced the lower radiator hose because the old one had blown up. And when I mean blown up, it exploded. The hose almost blew in half. Anyhow, got everything back together, and it started up. It idle's when cold at around 2,000 rpm. I didnt notice any smoke comming out of the exhaust, but I did notice that with the radiator cap off, coolant loves to shoot out of the radiator. Its like a geiser, it'll shoot water a good 12" into the air, if not higher. What would cuase this. I heard blown head gaskets will do this. But wouldnt there be white smoke in the exhaust as well? Also, when its warm, the thing wont idle at all. If you let it die, it wont restart either. Damn Subaru left me stranded a block from my house. Tried to start it until the battery died, then came back with my '84 Wagon to jump start it, but i didnt need to cause the damn Turbo started right up after sitting for that long. GRRR -Brian
  14. A day trip will make it easier for me to join. -Brian
  15. I had a problem finding subaru freaks in Anchorage. Most of them are a--holes. Not sure why, but everybody I met in Alaska (that I didnt have as a friend already) were very rude, but most of them were older as well and weren't interested in off-roading their EA82 wagons Wish I was still up there, looks like there's alittle more interest in it than 3 years ago. -Brian
  16. Hrm.. Day trip? or Weekend trip? I wonder how I can get more time off........ -Brian
  17. I already bought the alt's, but let me know about that info, i would love to add it to the USRM! -Brian
  18. If I had a place to put them, I would... but right now my garage is getting kinda full. So i'll just grab the door guts. I do want the door panels tho. Its white on grey, just like Mt. Grizzley has. -Brian
  19. Doors are black/grey. Would look real goofy on my Silver brat Hopefully this is something i can pull off. I wanna do the power steering conversion as well. Thats alittle later tho. -Brian
  20. No room in the garage, and not enough money in the bank. The engine was useless, and the tranny was just an auto. -Brian
  21. So the power window glass is the same as the manual window glass? I think i could probably get the entire door for less than just the inners. -Brian
  22. Gotchya, ok... so i'll return on tuesday and get the stuff. Mick, if you want them bad enough, give me an offer and i might want to get them out of my garage that much faster -Brian
  23. I wanna convert my brat to Power Windows. Today at the junkyard I found a 2door GL10 Coupe, '83, EA81. I know the doors match, so would I just take the window and the power window guts from the GL10 doors and put them in the Brat? Will it all bolt up? Also, can I just hot-wire the switches and forget about all the wiring and the harness? I dont plan on using the center console with the switches, i will just have one switch on the passenger side door, and 2 switches on the drivers side door (one for each door). Anybody have any idea's for me? Or suggestions? -Brian
  24. Yup, you did it right Looks great. Since you have a hatch patrol album, you should create a nested album inside that main album, and put the photo's in there, that way you can add other pictures of trips, and have them organized. Also, if you .zip all the pictures up into 1 .zip file, you can upload just that .zip file, and the gallery will unzip them and add them to your album. Makes it easier if you have alot of pix to upload. Looks like you guys had fun. -Brian
