  1. HAHAHAH!!! An AMC Eagle. And it has an extension cord sticking out of the hood. I havent seen anything like that since i moved from Alaska. -Brian
  2. Actually, last year it did snow here in sac. Not enough to stick, but it was huge flakes. Snowed for a good 20minutes before it turned back into rain. I wasnt talking about boarding in Sac, but we're 90min from Tahoe. There's an off-road park less than 30minutes away too... so we could go wheeling on a saturday and then go boarding on a sunday... then if we wanted, we could drive to the beach on a monday. -Brian
  3. Jared... we have 4wheeling and snowboarding here in Sacramento! No need to drive to WA for it. -Brian
  4. Peaked up means you can modify the amplifier the CB uses to recieve and send signal's. FCC regulations limits the amount of wattage, but people modify them and i believe that's what he means by "peaked up" Matched means the CB has been tuned to the Antenna and vice versa. Your antenna works best when its matched to the CB, a propperly tuned CB and antenna will give you the best results, but it is not necessary. -Brian
  5. yeah, it helps if your CB is tuned correctly for your vehicle and your antenna, but it doesnt matter if your just talking to the car thats 20' in front of you. I still havent had my CB Tuned, and it worked great on my off-road trip with Adam and Tony. It also worked great the entire drive home, i followed Jared (rooinator) from Eugene to Sacramento, and we stayed awake most the time by chatting over our CB's. -Brian
  6. make sure you mark the real ones, or at least 1 of the real ones so you dont try to break loose a bunch of welded lugs with your lug wrench. -Brian
  7. From what ive heard it grounds better if attatched to the roof, but if you ran a solid ground from the antenna to the chassi it should ground out just fine. You will want to have it in the center of the roof tho for best results. My rack has a custom tab that is for my antenna, sits about 4" above the roof... but i like my magentic mount alot so I think i'll keep using that -Brian
  8. I got my CB from wal-mart for $35. Basic 40chan CB with squelch and volume. I got my whip from Napa for $17. It was packaged as a trucker special, came with a 60" whip, mounting bracket and a 6' cable. I broke my cable when my brushguard was hit by a tree. I went to RadioShack and got a magnetic base mount that had 10' of cable leading from it, it was on sale for $10 (was all old and beat up, packaging ripped) The magnetic mount worked ALOT better than my brushguard mount. I put the magnetic mount in the center of the roof for the wagon. I've heard the roof act's as a type of dish that the signals bounce off of and are picked up by the antenna. When my antenna was mounted to the brushguard, i couldnt pick up anything. Now with the same antenna mounted to the magent and in the center of the car i pick up ton's of channels clear as a whistle. -Brian
  9. I remember seeing an entire set of air shocks from a XT6 off of eBay, but not an XT. -Brian
  10. Ive seen under Tony's hood, and i really doubt its an electrical problem. Tony has every wire under that hood spotless and zip tied to something. Not sure what it could be Tony.... but hope you get it fixed. -Brian
  11. No, it wasnt too messed up, i am just too lazy. http://www.subaru4wd.net/New/mods/maplight.html I should add it tho Maybe later -Brian
  12. Thats what he said when I told it to him. No, its the Ultimate Subaru Message Board. -Brian
  13. Well, i guess it wasnt my 1st, since ive met alot of USMB members. But last night was the 1st time in my life I was approached by another Subaru Owner and actually held a decent conversation regarding subaru's. I was at my friend's house, and comming back from the store. We were both in my Brat. When I parked in front of his house, a white '95 Legacy LSi pulled up next to me, and the driver yelled "That car isn't going to be for sale anytime soon, is it??" Of course I said no I complimented his Legacy, and we started yacking away. Turns out, the guy is from Nevada, and he has two '87 RX's, both 3 doors. He said he has owned quite a few subaru's. I gave him the address to the USMB (REALLY wish i had some business cards, hope he remembers USMB.net) and hopefully we'll see him online. He had mentioned he plans on moving to Oregon, i had to mention Richie and John. I think he was suprised to find out he's not the only one. -Brian
  14. yeah, but its FUN!!!! Where else can you drive around through the streets in 4WD, bawling past Chevy's and Ford's, sliding around corners.... just having FUN!! I miss it Hope I can get up there and play in the mountains this week. -Brian
  15. Well... We got our 1st rainfall the other day. No snow here, but its good to see rain. If it snowed in Reno, that means there's snow in Tahoe! Ken, thats a great pic, love how your decal is exposed. -Brian
  16. Please, if you guys have my old address as Subaru4WD@subaru4wd.net i need you to update it to the new email address. TheSubaruJunkie (AT) USMB.NET That is now my current email address, please use it to contact me for whatever reason. I will not be checking the other email address much anymore, so if you email me there chances are you wont be getting a responce. Thanks All -Brian
  17. My adjuster wont make it tru enough. I Wanted to mount mine where the stereo goes... ive removed that entire center console and was going to fab a new console that holds the CB, Stereo and Meter's. I couldnt get it tru enough. -Brian
  18. Just more stuff to break. The FT4WD tranny has an open center diff which transfers power front and rear but to whichever end has the least amount of traction (kinda like your side to side open diff, but front to rear). If it has a locking center diff it will lock to 50/50 front and rear, but why go through the hassle for off-roading? With a standard D/R Tranny, when your in 4WD your garantee'd to have 50/50 front rear no matter what. FT4WD would be better suited for racing when 4WD helps, but you dont need a locked center diff (or dont want one in some cases). -Brian
  19. Have you tried removing the Turbo all together??? It would run like crap, but see if its smoking without the turbo connected. -Brian
  20. Adam, there is a 1983 FSM Turbo Supliment on eBay for $7.95 starting bid right now. Thought of you when i Saw it, maybe it could help you with your Coupe. -Brian
  21. ok... my nick is KatieNBrian..... I need a '84, soon i'll have a '83 up for grabs. Only if I win tho. -Brian
  22. Yeah, John is working on lifts for EJ car's, so even the newer sube's will be able to be lifted. When i was a kid, I had a friend with a father who had a CJ7 with a lift, and he worked in a off-road vehicle shop as a mechanic. When i asked him if a Subaru could be lifted, he said no way, no how... boy i wish I was still in contact with him so I can prove him wrong. -Brian
  23. IS that you who has a bid for the '84 FSM??? Just what I was looking for. I wont outbid you, good luck! I also hope other USMB members don't outbid you either. If you want a '83 instead, i have a '83 FSM, but i own a '84 Wagon. -Brian
  24. SEE!!! Things are starting to look toward the better. If the busted bolts are only holding the alt bracket, then i wouldnt be afraid to drill and re-tap those holes, be careful you dont go too deep tho. Let us know when its running again -Brian
