  1. U joints and ballanced tires. -Brian
  2. Since that is a EA71, that intake will bolt right on. -Brian
  3. Im at work and not really supposed to be surfing, can you post dates in here for me real quick?? -Brian
  4. Yeah, my next trip to OR will be in the Brat. But Holister has a REAL GREAT off-road park ive been wanting to visit. -Brian
  5. I'll have to make a trip down to Holister now. The only problem is... what do I bring? The Brat or the Wagon? -Brian
  6. The mods and I have discussed this off-forum, and feel its not something that should be planned through the USMB. I myself thing its a great idea, but maybe we'll need to form a seperate meeting place to take care of it. -Brian
  7. Those tools look great. I really should have one made, but lately the CV's ive done have just slid right into place. A couple take a few whacks of the hammer to get going, but as soon as its past the hub, the castle nut does the rest -Brian
  8. The largest production engine subaru made was the EG33 which is a 3.3 liter H6 that came in the SVX. They only came with automatic trannies, so if you want a manual, look for a wrecked SVX and a wrecked Legacy 5spd. If you want the most bang for your buck, go with the EJ20TT or the EJ25T. EG33 stock= 230hp EJ20T stock= 230hp EJ25T stock= 300hp EJ20TT stock= 270hp Your better off getting the 4cyl, as the 6 wont even fit in a EA82 bay without serious modification. -Brian
  9. MAKE SURE he knows its a flat 4 engine, and there are 2 heads. I called machine shops around my area to have my heads: Resurfaced Shaved Valves Gnurled New Intake valve gaskets Valve grind and reseating. $150 was the quote, per head. I didnt know until i picked up my heads with $150 in hand, and was given a $300 bill. $150 is a good quote for 1 head, its a GREAT Quote for 2 heads... make sure its in writing and there is a warranty. -Brian
  10. How many CV's has your dad replaced? I can count the last 5 that ive done, and ive never had to use a special tool to install one. If you leave the lower ball joint off, slide the shaft through the hub, you should be able to tap the hub onto the CV. once the CV is through the hub, you can then add the rotor, and if there is enough of the CV exposed, you can install the cone washer, and the castle nut, and use the nut to pull the CV into place. The tool makes it easier, but its not necessary to complete the job. Let me know if you have any questions. -Brian
  11. Thanks Ken, just wanted to see the plate setup for when I fab my own. I would drop $200 on it, but i dont have a sube to put it on. My brat has a long a-bar, and the wagon has a full size FHI brushguard. Still a beautiful brat, and those 14's you put on it look like they were made for that car. I noticed alot of small dings, i guess to an east-coaster it would look imaculate. Still impressive how many gem's you find. -Brian
  12. I'm sure we can get 12 or more poeple to submit photo's. Maybe we can make a USMB calendar with the readers rides. Of course, if your planning on using any photo's that dont belong to you, make sure to get the owners permission before printing it... but you probably already know that. I have plenty of photo's that I shot that i would be more than willing to put into a calendar. I would also be willing to buy one. -Brian
  13. Yeah the redrill of the 6 lug to 4 lug has never proven wrong. ive never heard of ill effects and we're talking about ppl who drill these out by hand and drive a few thousand miles on them. If you think about it, there is no more stress on the studs... the wieght of the car never changed and therefore each rim is still holding the same amount of wieght for each tire/rim. And the rims we are using were made to hold 3/4 ton pickup trucks, so these lil' subaru's shouldnt put any stress at all on them, even tho the lugs were modified. Rick, the tires/rims look great. I love that tread pattern and you got a SCREAMIN deal on the package. I still dont like that rear camber, but camber is my largest pet peave of all time. Cant wait to see it muddy, and hopefully it'll be in person. -Brian
  14. Yes, its good to hear your ok. Do they have the fire contained at all? I dont think Arnold has his hands full, $2bill is nothing compared to the debt we have, just add it to our tab. -Brian
  15. Very beautiful Ken Can you get some closeups of that Winch and the mount? Looks like a modified short style A Bar. -Brian
  16. My roomate has a subscription for it. It came in yesterday and i had a chance to look through it today. -Brian
  17. its ok Vicky, i'll let it slide... but just this once. -Brian oh, and P.S. you spelled my name wrong hahahah Thanks for the compliment tho.
  18. If you have December 2003's issue, TURN TO PAGE 94!! In the top of the page you see the front half of a Gen2 Brat, you cant see the rear cause this thing is HAULING rump roast and the whole rear end is covered by a cloud of dust. The Front end shows what looks like a blower or S/C comming out of the hood, and it has 2 straight pipes as well. Looks like a total of 6-8" of lift, and it has some chrome rims with sand tires on it as well. Looks like a pretty machine, all custom work. I seriously doubt it has the EA81 in it, and IFS still. -Brian
  19. That SR5 is my neigbors, we share a driveway (duplex). Vicky... LOL! You must have been sleeping. Ive had the brat for like 6 months now There is no hatch in the background. The grey sube is a 1989 GL10 Turbo Touring Wagon, belongs to my roomate and it has a blown head gasket. Fox, its a 1984 GL Wagon, you were close, but I dont remember you having one that looked like it. Thanks guys for the compliments...the brat needs a wash, should have clean pix tonight. -Brian
  20. I want RAIN!!!!! Im nowhere near the fires, those are in southern cali. But its still 90 degree's here in Sacramento, and too damn hot! -Brian
  21. lol... im not even using the Cover you gave me before. Was thinking of auctioning it on eBay and letting the proceeds going to the USMB fund. I dont need caps either, but if you find some.... by all means grab them for me. And also the lugs. I know more will find they're way into the yard. I also want to make a Carson City run real soon. So i'll keep you posted. Looks like we have a growing Nevada group. -Brian
  22. Welcome to the board 78Turbo.... you have created a monster. I had a wet dream about something like this, but it was a '74 Wagon with a EA82T pushing 200+hp. I set you up with an account at the gallery, login there and get some pix for us!!! Expecially pix of the engine bay. -Brian
  23. They only rub when i turn real tight, or if I hit a bump. The rear does not rub at all, the front does (only while turning). My front end is lowered all the way tho, i will need to raise it a bit. NO! The brat will not be lifted. The brat is the street-rig, my wagon is my off-road rig. Dave, i got 2 out of the 4 caps. The caps are the exact same caps that the 14" pugs have on my wagon. So i will take all 4 caps from the wagon, use 2 on the brat and have a couple for spares. Hardcore. That Brat is unlifted. The rear struts are lowered all the way, so yes.... there is no problem running them on an unlifted Brat. They are alittle unballanced, but i can already feel a MAJOR difference in cornering. There is almost no understear (keyword... ALMOST). As soon as I get them ballanced and get 2 more pug lug nuts, i will be able to REALLY test them out. -Brian
  24. Had to goto the yard today for a few USMB members, and I thought i'd get some new tires for the Brat. They happend to come mounted on a set of 15" Pug Alloys. The tires are 205/60R15 Pirelli P600's. Probably have a few hundred/thousand miles left on them. More pix can be seen here: http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo83 -Brian
