  1. ANY BRAT is worth at least 2 new front axles. Dont make it RWD just to drive it into the ground. -Brian
  2. I posted this in the Forum Help and Suggestion's.... but alot of people probably do not go there. Read here how to do it: http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5347 -Brian
  3. Yeah, I like PM's because I check the USMB more than i check my email. And my email address changes so much, my USMB nick wont. Plus, i dont get spam through PM, and the only people who ever email me are USMB members... so the PM filters my spam. Anyhow, that sticker is badass. I need to find one. -Brian
  4. I was going to PM you, but you dont have the PM icon... did you hide it on purpose? Anyhow, is that an icon of the Man in Black, Mr. Cash?? -Brian
  5. My roomies 5spd FT4WD (s/r) 5spd has a FWD fuse. But it doesnt do anything. I guess mick is right, with the open center diff it shouldnt do any harm. But I would put the donut on the front to save the rear LSD -Brian
  6. I wouldnt. Disable the FT4WD via the fuse under the hood. -Brian
  7. EA81 and EA82 wheels use completly different hubs. I was talking to Tony, he said he removed the hub from his stock steering wheel, and created a blank adapter and welded the stock hub insert into that adapter and made his adapter that way for his EA82. -Brian
  8. Tony, ive been looking for steel braided brake lines for our subies. I heard Shannon found some, but need to get a part number. Also a friend of mine in Fresno had found a set at Napa, he gave me a part # but i lost it. -Brian
  9. Oh, and for the brake lines... all you need to do is disconnect the brake line from the strut housing, and you will have enough slack for the front brakes. And in the rear you disconnect the brake from the torsion assembly, and you'll have enough slack as well. I put rear disc brakes on my wagon, and they had another 4" of extra brake line, so that worked out perfectly for me. Everything is well documented in the lift installation instructions. -Brian
  10. I would go with the 3/3 lift. Its easier to install. Ive heard with the 4/3 lift, there are some mod's that need to be made to make it shift right... etc. The 3/3 is alittle cheaper, easier to install, and just as functional. If you are only running 27's, 3" of lift will be fine. Tony runs 27" tires with no lift, just alittle fender trimming. I have a '84 GL Wagon with a 3/3 PK Lift, 14" pug alloys, and 26.1" Cooper Discoverer STT's. The car handles just as good (if not better) than it did without the lift. The suspension is not altered in any way. The CV's are at the same angle, my camber is perfect, and the car is alot taller, and goes ALOT more places than it did stock. Your Mechanic friend need's to do some more work on Subaru's before he opens his mouth about them. Aparently, he doesnt know much. I was able to install my lift kit in 2 days, working by myself, and i had to re-do the front end of the lift because i made a mistake when installing it. -Brian
  11. Let me know if you got those pictures or not John. -Brian
  12. Dont forget, its an AT... and thats reason enough to change it. on 1/2 price day... hrm... $150 tops i would think. If it were any more than that, i would be shocked. I'll talk to Tony and see whats needed. Then call PnP and check with them. They're webpage sais "transmissions from $74.99" So on 1/2 price weekend i would think after core, your tranny shouldnt be much more than $70-$75 after tax and everything. Then guestimate aprox $75-$100 for other odd's and ends like flywheel, peddle assembly, and drive shaft. If your AT and 5spd dont have the same gear ratio, you'll need the rear diff as well. I believe all AT's have the same spline count as non-turbo 5spd DR's -Brian
  13. Cool. Well, the Junk Yard here will have the parts you need, and its 1/2 price weekend on the 17 and 18th. -Brian
  14. I heard the peddle assembly was the hardest part. Soobme did a A/T to D/R 5spd swap on his Turbo GL10. He said the tranny's swapped right over, not sure about the driveshaft. But the peddle was the hardest part. He said if you take the drivers seat out, it makes it alot easier. What weekend are you planning on doing this? I can get a sunday off and come up to help if you need it. -Brian
  15. Well, the next step is putting it on the Wagon. Took about 2 hours to coat it, and used about 1/2 a quart of Herculiner. I got the two rear lights mounted and wired, you can find more pix of the rack here: http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo48 -Brian
  16. I'll let him set his prices. Not sure if I got a deal or if he's gonna sell them for what I paid as well. Speaking of the rack, needs another coat of paint. Be right back with pix -Brian
  17. He shipped it to my door for $30. Of course, thats from Oregon to California. He has a plan to make the racks as 2 piece racks, that will be assembled upon delivery and make it easier and cheaper to ship. More pictures soon. I have pix of it with its 1st coat of bedliner, but i havent gotten them on the computer yet. -Brian
  18. I'll make you a deal. PM me with the aprox amount of space you need. Looks like the gallery is taking alot of space, not sure how much I can spare. I'm not sure if I can hook you up with a FTP login either, im still trying to figure that out. They want a $35 setup fee in order to add another FTP user. -Brian
  19. Yeah, Tony made me a BITCHIN rack! Here's a pic of the rack after it was assembled and welded together. : I got the rack sent to me in one piece, un painted. Right now, its hanging in the garage with a coat of Herculiner (liquid bedliner) on it. I should have it finished and mounted by the end of this week. -Brian
  20. Considering a standard rear LSD will go for $300 on ebay with no trouble, $350 for a front diff isnt bad at all. -Brian
  21. Tony's tires look alot meaner than those Caleb. Goto Cooper Tires webpage, and search for a local dealer. I got Cooper Discoverer STT's in 205/75R14's for $77ea mounted. You'll have to call your local dealers by phone and search for the best price. most of the placed I called had 1 or 2 sets in the back of the shop, the shop i went with was glad to get rid of them cause they were collecting dust. -Brian
  22. Ive got some video ive shot that I will be editing in the near future (just another project I cant fund). Maybe we should pull our video together, and create a massive DVD compiled out of all of our video. "Subaru's around the world" or something -Brian
  23. Did you order the tires online, or did you call them? I called them a few months ago looking for the exact same tires. They told me there were 4 in their database, 3 were in reno, and one was on the west coast. And when i contacted Kumho for a listing of dealers, they told me they were phasing out the 14" tires. Anyhow, sounds like the car is 1/2 way there. -Brian
  24. Sounds great! And starts right up just like a Subaru should. Got any audio of it reved? When i wheelin with Adam, his ER27 pulled him through everything without a stumble. Definatly better than the carbbed 1.8 -Brian
