  1. Its never a waste to submit something for the USRM. -Brian
  2. Sorry.... My Brat always comes 1st. I'm keeping an eye out for a low rollbar and a few other goodies too. -Brian
  3. Yeah, there really is no point in rebuilding one. Takes longer and is probably as much as a new one. I can get one new for $65 and have it done in less than an hour. Ive never rebuilt any CV's, but i've blown a few, and I'd hate to try to put that mess back together. -Brian
  4. It really depends on who is at the checkout counter. There is one guy who knows EXACTLY what every part is. So he'll charge you what the computer sais. With the brushguards and the roll bar, there was a lady at the checkout counter that had no idea what they were, so she rang them up as "Scrap metal" wich is something like $.50/lb. There's no way to weigh the roll bar or the brushguards, so she guestimated. -Brian
  5. The Junkyard near my house has given me and NV Zeno quite a few deals. Full Size Subaru Brushguard (see picture of my wagon) $7. Long Style A Pushbar (see brat) $13. Ten 14" Pug Alloys, $15ea. Gen2 Brat Roll low style Roll Bar, $20. -Brian
  6. Thats the tire i blew Still not repaired. The spare is on the side that isnt photographed. -Brian
  7. I need to mount my front lights, and the CB antenna. I was thinking of fabricating a metal lock box for the rear of the rack, to hold tools and roadside assitance stuff The Bedliner worked out GREAT. Gave it a type of "Rubber" coating and the gutter mounts work great without damage to the car at all. Now I need to wire everything, and make a new dash switchboard. -Brian
  8. Thats what its there for. You should keep up to date on whats new. -Brian
  9. ANY BRAT is worth at least 2 new front axles. Dont make it RWD just to drive it into the ground. -Brian
  10. I posted this in the Forum Help and Suggestion's.... but alot of people probably do not go there. Read here how to do it: http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5347 -Brian
  11. Yeah, I like PM's because I check the USMB more than i check my email. And my email address changes so much, my USMB nick wont. Plus, i dont get spam through PM, and the only people who ever email me are USMB members... so the PM filters my spam. Anyhow, that sticker is badass. I need to find one. -Brian
  12. I was going to PM you, but you dont have the PM icon... did you hide it on purpose? Anyhow, is that an icon of the Man in Black, Mr. Cash?? -Brian
  13. My roomies 5spd FT4WD (s/r) 5spd has a FWD fuse. But it doesnt do anything. I guess mick is right, with the open center diff it shouldnt do any harm. But I would put the donut on the front to save the rear LSD -Brian
  14. I wouldnt. Disable the FT4WD via the fuse under the hood. -Brian
  15. EA81 and EA82 wheels use completly different hubs. I was talking to Tony, he said he removed the hub from his stock steering wheel, and created a blank adapter and welded the stock hub insert into that adapter and made his adapter that way for his EA82. -Brian
  16. Tony, ive been looking for steel braided brake lines for our subies. I heard Shannon found some, but need to get a part number. Also a friend of mine in Fresno had found a set at Napa, he gave me a part # but i lost it. -Brian
  17. Oh, and for the brake lines... all you need to do is disconnect the brake line from the strut housing, and you will have enough slack for the front brakes. And in the rear you disconnect the brake from the torsion assembly, and you'll have enough slack as well. I put rear disc brakes on my wagon, and they had another 4" of extra brake line, so that worked out perfectly for me. Everything is well documented in the lift installation instructions. -Brian
  18. I would go with the 3/3 lift. Its easier to install. Ive heard with the 4/3 lift, there are some mod's that need to be made to make it shift right... etc. The 3/3 is alittle cheaper, easier to install, and just as functional. If you are only running 27's, 3" of lift will be fine. Tony runs 27" tires with no lift, just alittle fender trimming. I have a '84 GL Wagon with a 3/3 PK Lift, 14" pug alloys, and 26.1" Cooper Discoverer STT's. The car handles just as good (if not better) than it did without the lift. The suspension is not altered in any way. The CV's are at the same angle, my camber is perfect, and the car is alot taller, and goes ALOT more places than it did stock. Your Mechanic friend need's to do some more work on Subaru's before he opens his mouth about them. Aparently, he doesnt know much. I was able to install my lift kit in 2 days, working by myself, and i had to re-do the front end of the lift because i made a mistake when installing it. -Brian
  19. Dont forget, its an AT... and thats reason enough to change it. on 1/2 price day... hrm... $150 tops i would think. If it were any more than that, i would be shocked. I'll talk to Tony and see whats needed. Then call PnP and check with them. They're webpage sais "transmissions from $74.99" So on 1/2 price weekend i would think after core, your tranny shouldnt be much more than $70-$75 after tax and everything. Then guestimate aprox $75-$100 for other odd's and ends like flywheel, peddle assembly, and drive shaft. If your AT and 5spd dont have the same gear ratio, you'll need the rear diff as well. I believe all AT's have the same spline count as non-turbo 5spd DR's -Brian
  20. Cool. Well, the Junk Yard here will have the parts you need, and its 1/2 price weekend on the 17 and 18th. -Brian
  21. I heard the peddle assembly was the hardest part. Soobme did a A/T to D/R 5spd swap on his Turbo GL10. He said the tranny's swapped right over, not sure about the driveshaft. But the peddle was the hardest part. He said if you take the drivers seat out, it makes it alot easier. What weekend are you planning on doing this? I can get a sunday off and come up to help if you need it. -Brian
  22. Well, the next step is putting it on the Wagon. Took about 2 hours to coat it, and used about 1/2 a quart of Herculiner. I got the two rear lights mounted and wired, you can find more pix of the rack here: http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo48 -Brian
  23. I'll let him set his prices. Not sure if I got a deal or if he's gonna sell them for what I paid as well. Speaking of the rack, needs another coat of paint. Be right back with pix -Brian
