  1. How far SE of Sacramento are you? My 1984 Hatch is going to be in need of some parts, maybe this guy has what I need and I can give money to him instead of a junkyard. Lemme know what he comes up with, and i'd be happy to help in anyway I can. -Brian
  2. Why lift it if your not going to off-road it? Go with a 3" lift and 27x8.5 Kumho Venture MT's! Take it out and get muddy, you may lose 3mpg but you'll gain 4" in your smile. -Brian
  3. I admit, i dont like other people fueling my car either. But, thats no reason to avoid attending the largest subaru convention in the west! -Brian
  4. No time to travel to chico. Always wrenchin myself. I will actually be in Chico for business in a few weeks, was thinking of checking out one of the yards there... i keep hearing alot of good things about. -Brian
  5. Im able to shake the car with my roof rack, they hold very secure and ive never had a problem. I dipped the brackets in rubber to keep them from destroying my paint job, but I could really care less. -Brian

I cut a hole in the roof so the bracket could stick through the headliner. Then I used an oversized piece of fiber board, and put it above the headliner, screwed the bracket to that, then screwed the fiber board in place through the headliner. Not sure if the EA82's as easy as the EA81, but I was able to undo just the front section of the headliner enough to squeeze everything up in there. -Brian
  7. TWB's work is outstanding, and the guy is honest and very well priced. But, he has since stopped wheelin subarus and drives a suburban. Im sure I can still call him and order up a bumper, but I think it will be cheaper to go with someone local. Jeremy, your surrounded by custom fabricators save some money on shipping and cut the waiting time. Im gonna start to draw up some idea's on a rear tire carrier/bumper and see what dr.smash will charge for the work. -Brian

Radio Shack for CB antenna and supplies. -Brian
  9. Im in Sacramento. Ive had a hard time finding other old school subie guys to hang with. I havent been to the junkyard in a while, but there are a few near me and when i have time (and the money) i try to go and see what they got. There are a few of us in Reno NV, i go up there to hang out and wheel when I can. -Brian
  10. No one Im aware of Jeremy. I suggest you go see Dr.Smash. He's local, you'll save money on shipping and he did a great job on JB's tube doors. I believe JB already talked to him about tube bumpers and got price quotes... im thinking of using him for my rear bumper. -Brian
  11. I've been running SPFI pistons in my RX for almost 3000 miles now. No problems other than boost problems, maybe thats why its still running. I just fixed my boost problems (thanks to a broken up-pipe) and been driving it pretty hard lately. -Brian
  12. Tell me about it. I dont know what im gonna do when my tags expire -Brian
  13. I need shocks that are stiffer. The Gabriels Im running are very soft, and when I gas it, i stuff my rear tire into the fender's. Already chewed the crap out of 2 of my brand new Kumho's. -Brian
  14. On a turbocharged car, the intake air isnt going to matter much. As soon as it passes through the turbo, its gonna be hot as fck! Also, with your canister out of the way, and your intake pipe bent like that, you run the risk of breaking the intake pipe. Ive already been through one with my setup. I ended up buying a shorter filter and putting the intake pipe in the stock location. And even tho your saab 900 IC has metal ends, the mounting brackets should be the same. I doubt they changed the saab's chassi when they changed to metal IC's. -Brian
  15. Thats hot!! Front and rear mud flaps I like!! What rear shocks are you running? -Brian
  16. Nice car, nice setup. Im running a saab 900 IC on my RX and it works great. THe inlet and outlet are 2.38" which is the same as our throttle body intake. Here are some pix of my bracketry and piping for the IC installation. And my finished installation: Welcome to the board -Brian
  17. Doesnt matter Ken. You guys can have it in Canada, and I'll still drive to there to show up! -Brian
  18. Maybe he doesnt want other people fueling his subaru?? -Brian
  19. My cap screws on, and my rotor has a screw holding it in place. Cant really get the company discount if I walk in with the parts... but, looks like I may have to do that anyhow. -Brian
  20. Im at work, gonna order parts through napa for the RX. Need to get a Disty cap & rotor, along with a new coil. Which disty did the RX come with? Thought they did away with this in the EA81 years... argh! -Brian
  21. Hrm... the coil does look old and in need of replacement. Maybe i'll order up a new one today, along with a new cap & rotor. The plugs are new as well as the wires. Im running 8mm magnacore wires, i sure hope they arent going bad. -Brian
  22. So i got some header wrap today from Napa... wrapped the section below the flange to help protect my coolant lines etc. Installed the up-pipe. I bolted the mounts back in, and while I was under the car I found out both my engine mounts were loose. The bolts leading through the cross member were about to fall off. So, got everything squared away and installed and took the car for a test drive. WOW THERE'S WHERE MY BOOST HAS BEEN ALL ALONG!! Its been so long since I got max boost in 1st gear, but damn... as soon as I blip the peddle the boost gauge pegs at 6psi, maybe closer to 7psi. Car has some funky miss while under boost. Not exactly sure if its detonation or maybe something is loose, kinda feels like its running on 3cyl when i get on it. Anyone have any ideas?? Oh well, im just glad to have my postive intake pressure back! -Brian
  23. Still wouldnt be automatic if you had a clutch peddle. And I doubt a servo could shift as fast as a human arm with 24" of leverage. Sounds good on paper though. -Brian
  24. Subaru lifts will be all body. Its actually hard to explain, its a hybrid suspension/body lift, but its not like a truck lift that you maybe used to. 4/3" is pretty much bolt on. 6" and higher and you need to start modifying things like shift linkages, drivelines, reinforce different parts of the car. IF your planning on installing a 2nd transfer case, you will need 6 to 8" of lift and a sub frame. Hope you can weld. Also, hurry and get the project complete so I got someone else to wheel with! -Brian
