  1. thats one nice looking wagon but i agree, too clean for me needs some mud on it.
  2. cool rllywgn, would like to go up there and do some wheeling and a map would be helpful, years ago i knew of some guys that would rallying up there in datsun b210's. that camera harness would be cool as long as it could hold up to the torture. hey nicky, were abouts around vernonia/scappose are you talking and are they hard to find??? i've seen some of your pics including the ones from the now disbanded atlas4x4 club, look like you guys had some fun. would like to get out in that area sometime.
  3. ya, theres some pretty good mud holes up outside of estacada, on squaw moutain, that will swallow up a subaru. but some good trails up there to both on wildcat, squaw and goat mountains all outside of portland towards mt. hood. lots of snow right now though but its still fun. hey rllywgn, would like to come over the river in your area sometime and do some trails maybe we could get together and you could show me some good places. chaz
  4. nice car for $100, wish my $100 84 wagon looked that good but then it ran i drove it home. good find and good luck on the build.
  5. Kool Man, looks pretty good for $250 with that kind of milage, good score.
  6. i'd be interested in a nice hat with my board name on the back of it too, $20-$30 bucks if it was stitched with nice logo or even our cars since i only have 2 right now . plus i would go for a nice mug too, filled with a good micro brewed ale would be a bonus.
  7. looking good guys, nice mix of models you have there. congraulations. but, i would worry more about the city and neighbors more then your landload they can give you all sorts of problems:banghead: , been there and i was a home owner at the time( neighbors can suck and be nice to your face the whole time but then stab you in the back ) and know of other people in the same situation. sorry to through bad news at you, but portland does suck in that respect. be careful and good luck. oh and by the way tell your friend its not that hard to change his own caliper:lol: by the way ryan i will get those carbs back to you soon, i just acquired a gen 1 wagon trying to get it running good for a daily driver so i've been busy.
  8. nice score and it looks like a good foundation for a restore. someday i hope to get a brat, well i already have one-my daughter but i mean a subaru. too bad about the bad paint job on the wheels ,etc. but easily fixable.
  9. DUDE, AWESOME VIDEO. Lots of fun, i love playing in the mud. Makes me want to go out and find some mud, but all the good places close by are now off limits (heavy fines).
  10. COOL DUDE. keep us informed, i to need to fix a little something on my car nothing major it still drives though or i could just bring my stocker if need be.
  11. Ya, i would be up for that but it would have to be on a sunday, i work on saturday. been thinking about going up to the larch/silver star mountain/yacolt burn area for awhile just haven't made it yet, to use to going up to wildcat and goat outside of estacada. haven't been up to larch in about 7 years mountain biked up to the towers with a co-worker that lived in camas.
  12. Hey Chris, can you post that video of the hatch at St. Helens????? i would really like to see it. chaz
  13. Are you sure its the seals or could it be the tracking or the motor?? the seals you would probably have to replace them if they making noice they are probably dried out and hard but the tracking you could spray some kinda lube on but you would need to take the door panel off to get to them. not sure about the PVC other then replacing it. hope this helps
  14. you guys still have Dunkin Donuts over in that part of the country??? i don't remember the last time i seen a Dunkin Donuts that was still open, same goes for Winchels. we have Krispy Kremes Now. So that means nope never seen it.
  15. COOOOOOL MAN, that is an awesome video dude. would love to find place like that to run my subie through.
  16. well i put ea82 on my ea81 and they are working just fine but the rotors are different.
  17. Tire stores won't get it right, in my experience. excuse me but i don't know what tire store you go too but i would change. i so happen to work at a tire store, in the alignment shop and yes i do know how to do alignments including 4 wheel and i do them right and the only subarus that can't take a 4 wheel alignments are the loyale and older models. they don't have rear adjustments for toe but you can get cams for adjusting rear camber and adjustable srtut reods for adjusting front caster. yes, if its a lagecey it can have a four wheel alignment done, i would take it some were else and if they do their job right and give a print out with before and after specs i would go back to the other place and get your money back, sounds like your toe is off. an 86 doesn't have much for adjustments you probably went to a shop that had a frame machine that does frame alignments, most auto repair shops including tire stores have a standard alignment machine for automotive use. rht009 you might have to go a frame/body shop to make sure your subframe is straight first then get a suspension alignment.
  18. Ok, this is what i found out from a jy that i deal with through work. the front hubs from 1980-89 are all the same.
  19. i'm thinking they will work but i'm not sure and was hoping that someone out there in the community has use EA81 to EA82 hubs or visa/versa. i can take a front hub off in 10 minutes thats not a problem, i just got the info last night when i went to look at the car and hear it run i won't be able to pick it up until latter this week so i was just fishing for information. as far as i know the spline count is only at the tranny end of the axles thats where they are different in my experience with replacing axles but what do i know. thanks for your responses, i do appreciate them. Thanks Monstaru "for everything that is sacred and easy on this earth....they will work"
  20. I'm going to buy this 1984 Subie wagon but the splines in the front hubs are stripped out so it has to be driven in 4 wheel drive. I have psare hubs for my 86" wagon. So, can anyone tell me if EA82 front hubs will work on an EA81???????
  21. well IMO, i've only had to work on my subie very little in the last 11 years i've owned it ya there was 2 stints here and there where a total of 2 1/2 years i didn't own it but i always bought it back because it is a great car. its only been lifted for a little over a year now and i've only broke 3 different ( strut mount no big deal, stub axle, possibly trans.-not sure had axle problems too but did replace anyway) things wheeling and this is all hard wheeling, no gravel roads and minor pothole s**t. all the other work that i have done on it was because of my dumb rump roast trying to modify something to make it higher or bigger then it was before and all that extra work wasn't much either. so what i'm trying to say is that there must be some other issues present for someone to be constantly working on these cars, i don't think its the cars fault all by itself. edited sorry lost track of what this thread was all about. also, as far as the conversion goes. ya that would be cool to see if you could get them to fit but they won't. but i wouldn't do it either, i'm a gm fan just not the newer ones and i haven't been impressed with the s10 lately since i work on them too.
  22. well the 28th event has been cancelled, i got an email about it the other day and i just looked on their website this morning and sure enough no events scheduled at this time. BUMMER. oh well i couldn't get it off from work anyway. sorry guys, hate to give out bad news.
  23. well as far as chewing up the tires camber and toe are tire wearing angles but caster and camber are what can cause it to pull toe will cause is to dart back and forth. now depending on how out of spec your rear is that could be part of your problem. the other thing is that if your engine cradle ( front subframe ) has shifted and this could happen by as little as hitting a curb hard or big rocks, logs, etc. and that will change your caster and camber. mine has that problem after i went on a major wheeling trip with some hardcore toyotas, jeeps and trucks it was a hell of a trip and a whole lot of fun but i liturely beat the piss out of my car its pulled right ever since. i put it on our rack at work and i had an offset from oneside to the other ( meaning that my left front wasn't inline with my right front anymore ) some day when i get the time i will try and straighten it out. some really good alignment shops can fix this otherwise a frame shop can but without being able to see what your specs are i can't tell you much. the only other thing that could cause a pull would be a brake caliper or hose isn't fully releasing your brakes on that side, this to cam cause a pull.
  24. wow, i wonder if the email i sent them last night caused them to get it up on their website sooner. now i need to see if my work will let me have it off so i can go. hopefully i will get to tear up some mud with you guys.
  25. do you have a printed copy of the specs that your car is at????? they should have gave you a sheet with before specs and after specs when they are doen if so could you either post or pm me the specs and i will see if i can help with a solution. one of the big problems is that on the early model subarus ( pre-lagacey ) they didn't have much to adjust to straighten all the angles needed for a true alignment. the reason i'm asking is because caster and camber differances from one side to the other can cause a pull to one side. chaz
