is it gonna be a universal cone filter? i did the universal cone deal,i used the stock intake tube and only thing i noticed was a change in throttle response.(an sound) $50 bucks+throttle response and sound=i was happy with it. here's a pic -
find out what side the noise is coming from, pull the valve cover off and check to see if anything's loose.you need to manually crank the engine over so as to run the valves through full cycle.check every 1/4 turn or so. you'll need a feeler guage too.checking the clearence between rocker and valve.not sure of what the clearence numbers are though. just the lifters are, right??

glad you were able to get it taken care off.nothing worse then when something simple like a shift boot gives you trouble. been there, had that happen -
have you tried disconnecting the hill holder an seeing if they still lock up. i thought one of my 92 legacys caliper was freezing up,went and replaced it.front driversside brake was still locking up.then i disconnected the h/h and wah-lah all fixed.

if you look at the bottom of the boot, there should be some holes around the edge (the part of the boot that goes under the molding panel that surrounds the shifter) now if you look under the panel, you should see some plastic molded pins (that are attached to the panel) you need to make sure the pins are going through the holes.they hold the boot from slipping out from the panel. did this help ? -
i would of just replaced the glass and bang out the dent. unless you want it perfect looking...:-p

didn't really drill.the tap we used bored out the bad threads and also tapped in new threads for the sleeve that the spark-plug screws into. we put lithium grease(?) on the tap which caught most of the shavings.any that were missed were picked out with a flat head screw-driver with some of the grease on it so the shavings would stick.then i hooked up the battery and cranked it till it just started to blow out anything else missed.

about 8-9 yrs back my mech showed me th outback that a guy he knew was driving to work when he fell asleep and hit a tree at around 40.lets just say the engine was destroyed.roof started to crumple (behind front doors) straight across.if i remember correctly the drive-line was messed up (drive shaft bent, third member pushed back) amazingly he walked away cause if it wasn't for the airbag an the fact that he had his seat belt on......he would of been through the windshield. my mech was able to salvage from behind the front doors on back.
