  1. find out what side the noise is coming from, pull the valve cover off and check to see if anything's loose.you need to manually crank the engine over so as to run the valves through full cycle.check every 1/4 turn or so. you'll need a feeler guage too.checking the clearence between rocker and valve.not sure of what the clearence numbers are though. just the lifters are, right??
  2. looks like you might want to give way to these guys though. now that's my kind of roads
  3. glad you were able to get it taken care off.nothing worse then when something simple like a shift boot gives you trouble. been there, had that happen
  4. have you tried disconnecting the hill holder an seeing if they still lock up. i thought one of my 92 legacys caliper was freezing up,went and replaced it.front driversside brake was still locking up.then i disconnected the h/h and wah-lah all fixed.
  5. you sure it's not a rocker? i've been told that they sometimes loosen up.depending on what side,i think there pretty easy to replace.
  6. i get the same thing with my 94 legacy, still haven't inquired with my mech yet as to whether or not it needs fixing or not. i know that if i don't find out if it needs fixing,i may just pull the fuse so that this winter i don't keep getting the grinding noise i got like i had last winter.
  7. if you look at the bottom of the boot, there should be some holes around the edge (the part of the boot that goes under the molding panel that surrounds the shifter) now if you look under the panel, you should see some plastic molded pins (that are attached to the panel) you need to make sure the pins are going through the holes.they hold the boot from slipping out from the panel. did this help ?
  8. i would of just replaced the glass and bang out the dent. unless you want it perfect looking...:-p
  9. Well,Well,Well....guess what caused the ticking? after fixing my spark-plug problem (plug blow-out) apparently the plugs were loose and that's what was ticking.now that the new ones are in an all tightened.no more ticking
  10. ok that's the one(num 1) that i had to deal with the first time on my 92 legacy ok she's all fixed now, plus no ticking:banana:
  11. nope only backwards.designed to help up-hill take offs
  12. didn't really drill.the tap we used bored out the bad threads and also tapped in new threads for the sleeve that the spark-plug screws into. we put lithium grease(?) on the tap which caught most of the shavings.any that were missed were picked out with a flat head screw-driver with some of the grease on it so the shavings would stick.then i hooked up the battery and cranked it till it just started to blow out anything else missed.
  13. plug num 1 is the left side (drivers-side) front plug? am i correct cause that's the one that popped out on me.(this time)
  14. about 8-9 yrs back my mech showed me th outback that a guy he knew was driving to work when he fell asleep and hit a tree at around 40.lets just say the engine was destroyed.roof started to crumple (behind front doors) straight across.if i remember correctly the drive-line was messed up (drive shaft bent, third member pushed back) amazingly he walked away cause if it wasn't for the airbag an the fact that he had his seat belt on......he would of been through the windshield. my mech was able to salvage from behind the front doors on back.
  15. no j/k i'm glad i have it so now if i pull in my drive way to fast i won't slam the oil pan again.:-p
  16. you gonna paint em or leave em like that? i'd mount some neon lights behind em. but that's me you have a pic showing how you mounted the grill?
  17. now that it's fitted an all,i'll get it cleaned up (in the future) it's not attached like i wanted but its just temp for now.
