  1. She has been driving it for over 2 years. Leaking like crazy. She had the oil changed two weeks ago and today it was no oil on the dip stick when I checked it. Not good. Yes Subaru Seals, cam and crank. It's the middle surface in the picture where the seal sits. My next problem is getting the last two cam sprockets off. I hate DOHC engines. I do not have to tool to hold them. Most of the time I can use an old timing belt to lock them in place and get the bolts to loosen with a breaker bar. This guy over torqued everything! Having a hard time getting them. He used some aftermarket black cam and crank seals and put some sort of sealant around the outside. Crap work for sure! I wish she would have went to GD for a Subaru or waited until I could inspect it for her. So it goes. I'll get her back on the road.
  2. Why do guys use crappy parts and over torque everything. Friend picked up a 99 Forester out in Portland OR. Fellow did the headgaskets.... It was leaking oil like a watering can. Oil everywhere. I washed it, pulled the timing covers and started it up. Oil running down the oil pump. When I pulled it the seal was hard as a rock and broken in a few parts. The spring was on the crank. Used a bit of scotchbright to clean it up. As you can see it there. I could try to move the seal, but there's not lot of room to do that. Thanks, Larry
  3. You may want to have the sleeve kit for a worn trans nose shaft that the throw out bearing rides on. Have the flywheel surfaced. Most places will do this the same day on work days. If you have the engine out, it's a great time to take care of other necessary maintenance - Reseal the rear breather plate on the back of the engine. - Timing belt, seals and pulleys - Valve cover seals
  4. I think I have one. It's the ejector pump that moves fuel from the drivers side of the tank to the passenger side were the fuel pump is. Lmdew2@gmail.com
  5. This fellow drove over a mile marker and put a fist size hole in the tank. I've changed many 90 - 99 tanks but never a 2005. About the same? Thanks, Larry
  6. Have you changed/flushed out the Trans Fluid. I was have some shift delays on my 2000 OBS Amsoil trans fluid greatly improved it.
  7. Installed IAC Valve and gasket today. NGK Plugs and Plug Wires. Cam Sensor Replaced. Speedo Fixed. We'll see how it does.
  8. Thanks, cleaned the throttle body and the IAC valve. Pulled my spare intake IAC valve first. Saw the rubber gasket and it looked OK, so I went ahead an pulled the one off the car. Of course you were right, I should have had a new one on hand. The old ones were swelled to the point it would be a roll of the dice if you could get the IAC back on. Friday!
  9. No need for all those Old Subaru Parts now! Hope you enjoy all the new stuff!
  10. Thanks. Cleaned the Cam Sensor connector and plug as it will not come out without pulling the valve cover. Swapped a Crank sensor. Newer engine, not the old airbox MAF. Random dies from what she has told me. Larry
  11. I help a friend get a 99 Legacy a couple of years ago. Lately it started to die at random times. It starts back up after a bit. No Codes set? Ideas? I hate just to change parts, but I do have spare sensors. I'm thinking start with Cam and Crank Sensor. I would think if the sensor was out it would have a code set. Or change out the MAF? Thanks, Larry
  12. You can lock up the flex plate - Auto Trans or Flywheel - Manual Trans and torque the bolt. The other option is to use a quality strap wrench on the balancer to keep the engine from turning. As GD said 150 ft lbs. I use to take them to 125 ft lbs.
  13. Yep, I called today. Another Hour on wait. Sent a reply email, asking for response by Tue. or I'm reporting it to Credit Card. I try to work with the stores first.
  14. Still waiting for PB to refund my double charge on my credit card. Hope others have better experiences with them if they try the deal.
  15. Your pictures show you in the circuit when measuring voltage. Never a good idea to be touching the pins with skin/fingers. Check out Load Pro on youtube. Great tool, to add to your meter.
