Hey I got the same sedan. Is yours manual or automatic?

Getting my 92 Loyale back into action
Where did you hear the head was cracked? Cracks between the valves are normal. Most machinists unfamiliar with the Ea82 will say they are no good. But these do not affect them. Please post images of the cracks so we can evaluate. Chances are the crate engine heads have the exact same cracks.

can I use a fuel pump from a 92 Loyale on my 94?
Yes. Fuel pump is external on Loyales. Look under rear passenger bottom near fuel tank.

Improving my 92 Loyale
Get a timing light and check it is correct. The spec is found on the VECI label on hood. If check engine light is on, correct any issues. If it says egr solenoid, replace it, don't bypass it. While bypassing makes the code go away, the egr solenoid improves gas mileage by recirculating unburnt gasses into the combustion chamber. An AC delete will also improve mpg.

Low idle with my '92 Loyale
Just a tip on trying to find leaking coolant hoses. They can seal themselves at idle as there is not much pressure in the system. However when revving the engine, it increases the pressure and causes a leak. SO when troubleshooting a running engine, have someone rev it to force any suspect leaking hoses to show themselves. School of experience, class of '94.

Tach dropping violently and car stalling
Remove the electrical tape from the check engine light and see if it is lit. If so, report the code.

Wiring do's and don'ts: A guide
I would add that watch that your wire runs aren't up against any sharp objects. I got a Loyale used and the previous owner had installed new speakers in the doors by smashing the existing ones and putting new ones on top and using pointy wood screws to hold them in. Whe I got it, the power door lock fuse would keep blowing. Turns out those pointed wood screw were poking into the wire over time.

Subaru loyale 94 fuel injected or carbureted?
You can't clean the fuel filter. They are replaced. The fuel filter sits on the driver's side in the engine bay towards the back near the firewall.

SUBARU LIFEGATE RECALL?
You may have gotten a bad vehicle. Doesn't mean all Oit backs are bad. Best course of action is to document your incidents if they don't happen at the dealership. Also, filing the complaint as Carfreak suggested. You should probably contact Subaru directly to discuss this.

Future Subaru models: HPs or Fuel Economy
MR_Loyale replied to HelloFL's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou are already paying for the rich folks Tesla via the tax subsidies. Not that you get to actually drive one around or anything.

Future Subaru models: HPs or Fuel Economy
MR_Loyale replied to HelloFL's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe way other car companies can make high horse power vehicles that tend to get poorer gas mileage is that they make lots of fuel efficient units and get credits(Tesla sells these too) to build the high power models like the Hellcat and such. Or the buyer gets slapped with a gas guzzled tax. Electric cars exist only because of government subsidies, not because they are market competitive. Don't get me wrong, Tesla is really cool, but without big daddy government's wallet (e.g our taxes folks) Tesla would not exist. Please see: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hy-musk-subsidies-20150531-story.html Billions of YOUR tax dollars have been thrown down the drain on so called "Green" companies. Please see: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2013/12/05/energy-subsidies-are-going-to-junk-investments-and-failing-companies/ http://nation.foxnews.com/obama/2012/10/20/list-36-obama-s-taxpayer-funded-green-energy-failures The nation is $19 trillion in debt and we are subsidizing the building of electric cars so millionaires like these folks can feel good about themselves: http://www.ranker.com/list/celebrities-who-drive-teslas/celebrity-lists I am sure Subaru has enough fuel efficient cars they could make a 600HP WRX, But they also are mandated to warranty it for a minimum time. That would probably price it out of their core market which is good value (not cheapo- see Kia) long lasting cars.

Push to Start
I say go for it! It is YOUR car do what makes you happy. If your push button burns up, then get a push button wired to a relay. Be sure to post your pics. People will nay say on anything you propose. JUST DO IT and enjoy that satisfaction of proving them wrong. Look forward to the pics.

After Rebuild, Cant Keep it Running or to Idle
Is it a new cap and rotor?
-
After Rebuild, Cant Keep it Running or to Idle
Got a timing light? There should be a VECI label on the hood stating the parameters for timing.
-
After Rebuild, Cant Keep it Running or to Idle
If this was an ea82 I would suggest the iac.

So Long!
I am sure there is a new Subaru in my future, but I won't be getting rid of my Loyales. Yeah, I am totally a car whore.

Squeaking noise while running, not a belt though.

Electric Impact Wrenches...
I am looking around for an electric impact wrench. I would like to know what folks experiences with them has been, which ones are junk. I have seen in videos these being used and I want to get one myself, preferably with the light that comes on to light the work area.

Scratching my head...
Maybe shaft bearings in the transmission? My red 92 Loyale wobbles the entire stick when accelerating. Check out GLoyale's thread on the transmission: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/87305-easy-transmission-front-seal-replacement/

EA81 Spring Washers.... Why me?
Take a deep breath, step back and chill. Patience sapper san. Just think of all the things you'll know to check for next time.

front end noise, with pics
Not sure about EA81 but on the EA82 there is a dog bone bar stabilizing the engine/trans to dampen moments of high torque changes (impulse) such as when starting from a stop or stopping after moving. It can be seen coming from under where the spare tire sits down to the trans. On my EA82 if that is not crazy tight, a thunk is heard.
