  1. No that wasn't me, haven't been to Billings in years. Well, the winning bidder is in San Antonio TX, haven't heard from them yet, if I don't at least hear something from them today I will contact the runner up who is in Montana, Billings I believe. The good thing is the #2 guy only missed winning by $30 so, either way I should hear something soon!
  2. Yes, it's strange that almost 1 yr after they have been out the 14" are still not listed at the website, and the review is on the standard weight tires.
  3. Ok ok Mr. Reality! I'm going to plug my ears now and sing "Henry the 8th I am, I am Henry the 8th" REALY loud :-p. But yes, good point, I hope that it goes smoothly. I also have some pretty lucritive projects going with my old boss, so between that and the sale of the XT6 I should be good, if not, well then I can always contact the next highest bidder. After all he was beat by a whole $30
  4. If I may, I would also like to include the 27x10.R-14 HD Kenda Bounty Hunters. The actual hight of these tires mounted is 26.5" and 8.5" wide. http://www.kendausa.com/atv/radial.html http://www.atvpt.com/kendabountyhunter26x14.htm I do believe that these tires should work with 14" pugs with little modification, I would expect some of the typical massaging the wheel wells would be in order, and perhaps a little trim up front, but they should fit with out a lift quite easy. OFF ROAD ONLY. I just want to make sure that no one gets the idea I am saying you can put these tires on for the freeway. I believe the rep recomended speeds under 40mph
  5. Yes!!!! I'm happy to say tommarow I will be calling my favorite motorcycle shop and ordering these tires!:banana: And just to recap for anyone curious but not wanting to wade through this long thread: The tires I have decided to buy after 11 mons + research are the following: K537 HD Side-By-Side Bounty Hunter Radial in the 27x10.R-14 for $120 ea I will have ordered to the shop. (the 14" have been out for close to a year but are still not listed on the website. You can call Kenda directly and ask Q's at: 614-866-9803) which have a weight rating of 770lbs per tire. http://www.kendausa.com/atv/radial.html I have opted for the front tires instead of the rear for 2 reasons, contact patch and fit. The larger rear tires will have more trouble fitting in the wheel wells and my nissan rims are closer to the width of the atv rims these are designed to be used on. I am using Nissan 2x4 14" rims that are 6" wide and according to the Kenda rep this shouldn't present any problems FOR OFF ROAD ONLY. I never plan on using these tires for anything short of a gravel road or more primative. I still need to figure out the best way to store a second set of tires for the trip to the off-road area, however if I was camping and had to drive on a 1/4 mile of asphalt in a 15mph zone of an improved campground to the trails, I don't think that would be a problem. Any and all suggestions/comments welcome! I don't want to come off as a "know it all" or anything close. I might be better described as old enough to know better but still young enough to take a risk.:-p I will post pics and give a report soon as I am able. Oh yeah, almost forgot to post a link to this review of the same tires (these are the standard weigh rated however, not the HD). http://www.atvpt.com/kendabountyhunter26x14.htm
  6. Sorry if this is a repost, didn't see it anywhere else so check out this insane vid by one amazing driver Colin McRae at the Xgames!:eek: http://video.cardomain.com/Clip.aspx?key=B52E605DD82A1002
  7. Thanks! I really wish I could keep it, but at least it's not going for peanuts! I highly recommend the XT6 if you ever get a chance to drive one, do it! I will definatly see about getting annother. I very much doubt I will find annother one so nice tho :-\. But! I will be ordering some serious off-road tires. :burnout::burnout:
  8. :Flame::Flame: Sorry I am just as giddy as a school boy because my auction didn't seem to be going well till just about 5 min ago!! OMG!! I just checked it again and it's almost up to $1800!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-Subaru-XT6-White-5-spd-Great-Condition_W0QQitemZ300137667191QQihZ020QQcategoryZ6467QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This means I get to order TIRES tomarrow!! :burnout::burnout: I know this is a bit excessive, but OMG almost a year I have been waiting to order these tires!! (11 mons to be exact )
  9. Forgive me if this is too obvious and you already checked, but is the spacer between the 2 bearings aligned correctly? I know that sometimes the easy stuff I forget and make a quick job take forever. Once forgot the spacer altogether when I replaced the bearings now that was an expensive mistake:eek:.
  10. Great work there on Bucky! I haven't done any patchest like that yet, gonna need to eventually on the typical bed wheel wells on a brat(mine are very small and not growing (yet :-\) but I have made similar patches in the past, say maybe the next time your in Oregon (Or Montana if you make it before the end of the month ) mind doing a little demo on mine? Dayn
  11. I also owned an '88 FWD Justy for about 1yr. It was my first soob actually (my ex gf had a ea82 wagon tho that I had driven alot b4) and I would say as long as the dealer agrees to either tune it up (if it's a dealer car) or sell it real cheap, I'd say go for it! I'd be a little leary of messing around with one that was the electronicly controlled carb set-up if it's already having problems. As far as driving, it's the MOST fun I ever had driving a small car! I only owned one other car in that category, but I'd say you will never miss that 4th cyl. and since yours would be 4WD, it might not get quite as good of gas mileage, but heck, keep it in FWD! I took my lil FWD in places so slick I couldn't walk! Had no idea how icy this logging road was untill I got out to check and landed on my butt promptly. If I had an opportunity to get annother one, I'd do it again.
  12. Yeah, but here's what's REALLY important .. does it kill the hornets buzzing you in the JY on contact like PB??!! Just Kidding:lol: I'll have to see if I can get some of that kroil myself thx!
  13. Very glad you made out ok! Sorry to see your subie had to die saving you, but I agree that looks like a serious tire failure to me too. I was in the AF, so I know what you mean about vitamin "M" lol. Uncle Sam still doesn't know why I ever had back problems enough to need an IV of both Morphine & Valium to shut me up Definatly make sure they let you see a civilian doc too if you can, I made the mistake of thinking I had to goto a miliary hospital when they came and got me with the ambulance.
  14. Heya, I only know of one person who has "ATV Wheels" and that is Sweet82, but he's truly got custom made wheels (wider and heavy enough for his buggy) I have looked into this at length, and I wouldn't be afraid to use the tires (NEVER THE RIMS!!) at all if your going to use them strictly for off-road or at least lower speeds, however I would like to add that the only ATV tires I have found over the last 11 mons or so of looking that even rate their tires are Kenda Bounty Hunter HD's here's a link for ya. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64671&highlight=holy+grail I talked to the Kenda tire rep on the phone, they actually recommended not going over the tire's rated presure of 5lbs. I was also concerned about using my nissan 2wd 14" rims, because they are narrower, but that wasn't a concern according to the rep, and I plan on using the narrower "front" tires on all 4 to preserve a nice narrow contact patch:banana: Hopefully I will have them next week once I sell my XT6 (that is if bills don't eat up my spending money) I talked to the parts guy at a local motorcycle shop again to just check on some info and he remembered me just from the conversation we had almost 1 yr ago
  15. No guarantee, but if I can I will make it! I will be living in Oregon soon, and my B-Day is the 20th! I'll bring something to drink or chips or something.
  16. here's the blue I'm talking about  http://images.paultan.org/uploads/2006/06/satrianeo_blue.jpg
  17. thx! don't worry, just keep lookiong around, they are out there .. if your ever in montana tho there is a town that they seem to be most prevelant .. just lemme know if you want help finding one .. I'm gonna be here for about annother month anyway
  18. :slobber: yeah! that's pretty sweet is that a stock color? I know it sounds crazy, but I can't decide if I want it to be flat or gloss and I am kinda torn on doing some kind of "urban cammo" scheme in blue, grey and black .. sorta panzer tiger stripe maybe
  19. thx actually looking to find a better way to attach it atm, I had some brackets that seemed to work attached to the rain gutter, but they broke and untill I find a better way (really not crazy about drilling into the door pillar) it's not attached. I also think I might have found out why I had some problems getting enough air with it attached, I think it may have been due to the size of the air-box being to restrictive, gonna try making the box roughly 2x the current size and see if it helps. Added some more daylight pics, the skid plate is hard to see but on the bottom it has been dented in 3/8" and 1/2" on the other side hehe and to think the guys who built it for me thought I wanted it over-done:burnout: Anyhow, enjoy!
  20. LOL! that's ok, it's really not going well with the current paint, but if I ever sell my XT6 and still have the time, I might be able to finnally paint it the color I want .. midnight blue (nearly black) and that will set the color off, that and I would love to figure out a way to make a natural looking lightning strike graphic for the hood that would be reasonably easy to do with rattle-can with a template, I can't see air brushing it only to get scratched off by branches Well, anyhow, hopefully I can make some more pics for you in the daylight and maybe they won't be so fuzzy (borrowing this digi from a friend) maybe I can find some engine paint in the color I want
  21. Yes, it's been over a year, but I finnally got them in .. night pics don't do justice, but I should have some in the morning too. Got stuck in Montana over a technicality by my land lord so I can't really leave till about the end of August now, hopefully my XT6 sells and I can finnally get the ATV meats I have been lusting for http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2289861 (new pics including the rollbar & jump seats are toward the end)
  22. Ok! I was losing my mind :-p I got tricked into a silly mistake .. I saw the pics in my chilton and thought that both cam timming marks were supposed to be at 12 'oclock I missed the part about rotating the crankshaft 1 full turn b4 ligning up the driver's side cam .. I put it back in the right spot and everything works fine again
  23. Ya, I agree, but in this case, money is tight and I can't see any wear or play in pullys and the belts look very good, I got this car from someone who had it maintained extreamly well. I am very certain that these belts have less than 20-30k miles on them based on the mileage of the car.
  24. hmmm well in this case, the belts were in great shape and I never needed to go inside in the first place as I only needed a new thermostat. The belt tension seems to be fine, never disturbed the pass side belt, just driver's side where the water pump is buried behind it. How do I check for a bad tensioner?
