  1. A while back, there was a Diamond Edition EA81T at a local yard. Its probably still there. Might be able to get parts or even the whole car for a reasonable cost.
  2. Good show will. I'm not too far behind you. I have my current motor, which is fairly fresh and I have a low mileage spare. When those are done, I will be joining the EJ crowd. That is unless I have gone back to saabs by then.. But even if I do that, I see an EJ powered late 60s Saab 95 in my future:D
  3. Sounds like you MAF was toast to begin with. Time to hit the junkyards! If it makes you feel any better, I am on my 3rd or 4th MAF in my wagon.
  4. Should only idle rough when cold.. after it warms up, the AAV doesn't do anything. Mine is currently blocked off.. When I had the RX7 IC in there, there was a fitting on the IC just the right size, so I kept it hooked up. not a noticeable difference either way.
  5. Fuel cut on the 87+ (USMD) is a function of voltage from the MAF.. Do you have a boost gauge? what sort of levels are you running when you get fuel cut? One thing you could do to rule out the wastegate actuator and solenoid, is to take the solenoid out of the picture .. Kinda useless except at altitude anyway. Just run a vacuum line from the compressor housing to the wastegate actuator (will require about 8 inches of vacuum hose). This will set you to wastegate boost ~7psi. Romp the crap out of it and report back.
  6. would be interesting to see how injectors that big would flow with the crappy fuel rail. If you replace the fuel rail, you don't have to worry about 'direct fit'. They are plain old bosch injectors. Lots of stock type upgrades out there.
  7. Find someone stripping a car in WA.. there are lots of them. Or go to a good yard. Buy all four corners, regular strut/spring combo. Install in place of air suspension. Less than 2 hours (less than one if you have done it before) and you are back on the road. Air ride is the debbil. waaayyy more work than it is worth.
  8. My BOV is a 50/50, but its not plumbed fr recirc right now. There is a little off idle stumble, but I'm not sure that can be 100% blamed on the BOV. Kevin, what does your DMV do for the STi.. I guarantee that big ol thing sticks up more than 3 inches.. or is it illegal to drive an STi (or any number of old chryslers for that matter) in your neck of the woods?
  9. Some worn out legacy fronts and some worn out GL-10 rears:D They are next on the list of things to do.. well.. they are tied for next with exhaust and EM
  10. I'm going to have to disagree here. I think if the right rate combo was found, they would work fine as a daily driver. Mine are a bit stiff to be called 'comfortable'.. 350 rear 450 front
  11. Adjustable coilovers .. (though I would recommend going with a little lower spring rate than I did)
  12. Great to meet you too. I knew it was you when I first saw the 'our world is flat' shirt. I think I have now met all the Nrth texas USMB people except one. Have met a fair share of NASIOC people as well. For those that couldn't join us, it was pretty fun. THe wagon got a few minutes in the spotlight and people were really diggin on it. Carl was kind enough to prearrange a prize for the oldest/highest mileage subaru That prompted the MC to call me up in front of the 50+ people in the shop and give a little speil about the joys of old school goodness. A good time had by all, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple new members from NASIOC over here soon. A few people even asked me if I had ever seen one of those funky lifted brats and wagons
  13. I have gotten 2 GL-10s now because of that switch.. The first time, I didn't know about it. Discovered the board and the clouds parted and I had the epiphany of the subaru that every EA82 n00b has sometime in the first few weeks or months:D
  14. The knock senor mounts in the block. Just left of center behind the intake. In the same general vicinity, but actually attached to the manifold is the coolant temp sensor. Could that be what you are looking. I have a NA spider motor. If you can wait until tomorrow, I will go look at it.
  15. I ran my wagon with no 02 sensor for a while.. got about 15-17 mpg. New bosch universal 02 (less than $20) and it skyrocketed to 20mpg:banana:
  16. try this http://www.1stsubaruparts.com/ I would bet they will ship internationally.
  17. You can access the manual on the web directly from subaru. Its like $20 for 3 days worth of access.. IIRC, they are in PDF format and are downloadable for future use.
  18. You can continue to use the D/R.. It will bolt right to the EA82T the same as any other EA 82. Difference in performance from carb to turbo will be noticable.. but how much so depends on how far you decide to take it. Rear disc upgrades from a stock turbo car would be a good thing. How much work you do with suspension, sway bars and stuff is entirely dependant on how far you decide to go with it.
  19. Motor ECU Exhaust Wiring harness from the dash forward Crossmember various random little crap from under the hood Strtaigh turbo swap is boring though. May as well do it right with a better turbo and exhaust. Maybe some work on the fuel system. TD04 is a nice upgrade for the EA82
  20. no such thing as a communist nazi. There is such a thing as a fool who doesn't have a clue about how his 'rights' work though. Generally they are the ones that that throw them around the most. So quick to stand behind something you don't understand. I have explained how it works before. I just got home from a long day at work being a nazi.. First thing I see after my wife and daughter is this idiocy. Yay. Normally I would give a long and accurate discourse on the real world and how your 'rights' apply to it. I don't feel like it right now, so we will just cut to the chase. You are an idiot. I am a communist nazi. Now everyone is clear. Just to show what a nazi I am, I am going to lock this thread. Just to show what an rump roast hole I am, I am not going to ban you.
  21. Look around a little and you will probably find the info of a couple people that have retooled for 4x100
  22. 1 - Most 16 year olds don't know wongleflute about cars. Thats when a lot of them start learning though. And the best way to learn is to do it. 2 - Service manuals, even the crappy autozone ones can go a long way toward guiding you through basic maintenance. 3 - Of course you have help. You are but a few mouse clicks away from a wealth of information about your car. If you can't find what you are looking for via 'search', then someone here will always answer your question. Although you will take some crap for it if you didn't search well enough PS, if you ask nicely, I may b able to help you. PM me.
  23. That is definitely the sign of a dying alt, but I'm not sure that your original problem is related to that. you either have some sort of swicht on when it shouoldn't be, or something in the wiring is grounding out. Check all related switches and as much of the wiring as you can get to easily, you dont find the problem, then its time to dig deeper. Do you have any sort of DVM?
