  1. I'd buy one and destroke it to 1.35 liters. Small engines FTW!! (I'm serious)
  2. I saw "SLO WRX" the other day. On a WRX
  3. Seems this has turned into a pissing match. How about removing the front driveshafts? The worst thing you can do is break a car that is still in production and won't be missed by many.
  4. I'd sort of like my next Subaru to have an EJ22 for the extra reliability and ability to hold decent freeway speeds, but I also want to burn propane in it. To me it looks like you could just pull off the injection manifold and bolt on a carb, but I don't know much in the way of gas ignitions either. Perhaps simply "spraying" a controled flow of propane into the air intake would replace the need for a fuel/air mixture?

    "Landy" I love Aussie-speak!
  6. 75 Wagon, black or orange, or both with titanium rollcage, entire unibody covered with a contoured titanium shell for reinforcement, a fully titanium version of whatever Subaru's torquiest flat 4 is converted to an air/muddy water-cooled diesel with mechanical injection that produces 330 lb/ft. from 850-6500 rpm, but only makes like 110hp, mated to a 5 speed transmission, as in not a transaxle but a RWD machine until I put it into TRIPLE RANGE 4WD! I was wanting to use factory-style parts from Subarus around the world but pretty sure nobody makes 3-ranges. Lifted 6 inches with full underbody armor that's easy to take off and some hardcore indestructible half shafts, probably made out of titanium. Can you tell I like titanium? Stock interior but with a good AM/FM/CD, cushier seats, loudspeaker and lots of sound insulation. Spots on the roof where lawn chairs and a cooler can be secured to for when your driving it across the lake. Oh yeah, it's amphibious because there's a prop on the back of the rear diff and it has inflatable pontoons or something. And under Phizinza's design, actually make the EA82 hatch and put into production. OH! you said CURRENT SUBARU! That's just cruel man, let's all stomp on Sako's dreams why don't we!? Well, just pretend it's a few weeks from now and change 75 to 77.
  7. That's funny when I was looking for a gen-1 pic your name came first to mind.
  8. I've been eying this black 77 wagon for almost 3 months now. The guy who drives it works at a construction site right next to me and I always wanted to ask him if it was for sale but didn't want to wander onto the work area. 2 days ago they got to where they were parking their cars right next to the road and I got to talk to him. He paid $700 3.5 years ago, and he's getting a new car. I'm waiting for him to call me and I'll offer him 500. Looks just like this one but black, only has 1 dent in the drivers door I noticed. w00T for me!!!!!!1
  9. I doubt the 3-cyl VW diesel drops power after 2500. The VWs from the 80s redlined between 4-5K. My 3005cc 5 cyl redlines at 4350 and produces lots of torque right up to that point.
  10. Couldn't you break off a piece of paint and turn it upside down? works with cheap spray paint
  11. For most engines, most regular 10-40 and everything between will do, though 10-30 seems to be standard. You might want to avoid synthetic as it can lube "too good" in an older engine and leak past things, so I hear.
  12. So what's the difference between 3 and 5 main bearings anyway?
  13. I would have but that forum seems to have disappeared. She's looking at a 1994 L wagon. We're going to Eugene tomorrow to drive it.
  14. That exhaust has a great throaty sound
  15. I was thinking today that a shiny all black engine would look awesome.
  16. Ghetto is Subaru's middle name.
  17. There is a roofless EA82 wagon that's been driving around here for years no problem, but he doesn't offroad it either. Cut the roof and weld in bars where the roof would be, or at bottom-of-the-window level and you'll be fine.
  18. just use silicone/caulking from a tube or spray foam. That will seal it good
  19. Those are some neat wheels, I don't think I've seen them before.
  20. Nah, I moved the pictures and couldn't edit the original post so I reposted them, G.
  21. 1981 is my favorite - the 70s body style with the EA81 and dual range 4WD
  22. Try new brake lines, perhaps one of them has eroded/gone soft and is expanding when pressure is applied.
  23. Check out just crossrams.com, they've got an 84 turbo Brat too, very nice
