  1. Well, that's not exactly what I meant. I meant that I physically wanted to see the tranny so that I could determine what was done.
  2. Gee, if I could remember everything that I talked about on this board, it would be a miracle, but I did remember our conversation, I just couldn't remember if that was you or not.
  3. OK, I guess everyone is waiting for me to chime in. Subyrally, I suspect that you have an early RX Sedan 85 or 86, so yes, you would not have the Full Time 4WD D/R tranny with the center locking diff, that was actually an 87 introduction with the RX Coupe. Like other have stated, the RX came with a standard combination of parts that were only optional (some of the parts) on other models. The Full Time 4WD D/R 5speed tranny with the center locking diff was unique to the RX, a S/R center locking 5speed was available on other models. I have heard, but never verified that some of the suspension parts were also unique to the RX, like the rear shocks/struts. The rear sway bar on the GL10 Turbo Wagons were actually bigger then the ones on the RX, but I'm sure that Subaru had their reasons for that. I guess the best advantage that they have over the other models is that Subaru made them special by giving us a road going version of their rally cars, similar to what the WRX is today. You might also want to know that the version that we got here in the USA was actually the second generation of the RX, there was a N/A version before the turbo came along.
  4. Glad someone else knows that there was (is) no twin turbo 2.2. Also, be aware, not all EJ20 Twin Turbo create 280hp, the early ones were less then that. Getting 400hp out of an EJ20 is not hard to do, but doing so also reduces the reliability of the engine because doing so creates more heat and heat is the killer of all engines.
  5. Get them, there are not many cars around here running with Euro parts, everyone wants JDM parts, these would be unique around here.
  6. By next Tuesday, Gr8wheels will have crated up my new rear window for my 96 Impreza Coupe, what makes this window special is that it also includes the rear window wiper unit. When I talked with Keith, he told me that he had recently taken the gear set out of a Type RA tranny to put in his car and he has a completely controlable center diff (DCCD) that will work with my close ratio tranny, so that is the next thing that he is going to send me, complete with the wiring harness and the guage cluster which has a bar graph the shows the front to rear setting as they are being changed. With these two additions, the only thing left will be a LSD rear diff, and that is in the works. That will complete my replica, it will then have everything a Type R should have. Truly a one of a kind car.
  7. We recently picked up a 95 Legacy L AWD Wagon with 77K on it. It kept generating a CEL code of 0125, or insuficient coolant, and it had irregular temperartures. Since I had no idea if the timing belt had even been change and since I felt it was either the water pump or thermostat causing the problem I decided to replace all three, Now the car runs great, temp guage never reads higher then mid point and the defroster actually works now, and no CEL. This is a good car, I am really surprized that the previous owner never got that fixed (we are the second owners). How many 95's have you seen lately with only 77k on the meter. We really love our Subarus too Richie.
  8. So what if he quotes anyone, he posted it here, once that is done, anyone can respond, and I did. If you don't want just anyone to respond to your post, don't post it, once it is on the board it is free game. Could you get a different stick? Also, make sure the dog is sleeping before you poke, if not he is likely to bite you.
  9. Let's just say that Jamie and I have had our moments, and leave it at that, we are again friends and that is all that matters.
  10. Brian, I'm not sure what you are talking about. I have had several EA82Ts, none of them crawled off the line and they were all bone stock. I'm telling you, if you want to listen, that there is something else wrong with your engine then the direction you are heading. I believe that you will spend more money on cheap fixes and not solve the problem then taking it to someone and have it checked out. I think part of the problem is that you are comparing the RX performance to the Turbo Legacy's performance, they are two different cars. That would be like me jumping into a Turbo Legacy after driving my JDM WRX powered Impreza and complaining about the lack of power. See if you can find someone close who has a RX or an EA82T powered car and that is happy with it's perfomance and see if they will let you drive, then compare that to your RX, that would be apples to apples.
  11. Well, for one thing, it is not lag. It sounds like the turbo itself it bad. Remember these engine have low compression, and therefore have very little power without the aid of the boost from the turbo. I would suggest replacing the turbo before trying anything else.
  12. You want fenders like that? In about a year, I should be able to fabricate them. Corky
  13. According to the Factory Service Manual, the 98 L auto has a 4.111 final ratio, the 5 speed has a 3.900. Corky
  14. Well it sounds more like a driver problem then a car problem, either that you have extremely bad luck. Maybe you should try an automatic.
  15. Well something worked because I got your e-mail. Great pictures, thanks. Corky
  16. Boy, Ed is a saint compared to me when it comes to cussin at car parts that don't want to cooperate. The neighbors keep their kids inside when they see me working on my cars.
  17. You're going to have to tell us more then that about the car. For example, what type of tranny does it have? What model is it, a GT, a LSi, a SUS??? Chances are that it is a 4.11 but without some other info it hard to tell.
