Rear Diff Axle stub removal-Socket? Q, Zap, Corky?
OK, here is the tool, Snap-on TORX E-10

5-lug ??
Yep, it will bolt to any EA82 rear suspension. But as for getting that rear axle bolt off, did you try putting a tire back on and lowering the car to the ground? Was it in a wrecking yard when you tried to take it off? If so, try to find a long rod to put between two of the wheel studs, then try taking the nut off.

Gotti Wheels 4X140
Looks good, but it has the wrong offset for a Subaru. These wheels would stick half way out the wheel well.

EJ into EA81
In UltimateRX, there was no room for a fan larger the 2 inches thick, so I mounted some pusher fans were the A/C condensor used to be. On last check, UltimateRX was still not in top running shape, and too many other project, so it will wait awhile. The fans worked well enough for the times I had the engine running.

EJ into EA81
Freak, most of the item you mentioned were reasons why not to install an EA82 into an EA81 series car, the EJ series engine is narrower then the EA82 so no cutting is necessary. But Like Shawn stated, the engine is a little longer. But bolting up the EJ into an EA81 series car is not the MAJOR problem, that is getting it wired correctly so that it will run. Also since it is a fuel injected engine, it will need a different, high pressure fuel pump. If you are really serious about doing this, let me know, I do have experience with this type of a conversion.

Engine codes
Here is a little primer on the engine codes EA71 1600 cc OHV, carburated EA81 1800 cc OHV, carberated or turbo charged (83 or 84) EA82 1800 cc SOHC, Carbed, SPFI, MPFI, turbocharged (85 to 94) Then there are the newer engines EJ18 1800 cc SOHC MPFI EJ20 2000 cc DOHC Turbo (WRX engine USA) EJ22 2200 cc SOHC MPFI EJ25 2500 cc DOHC and SOHC MPFI Now for your rig, I don't see the Legacy struts on the front suspension. Doesn't look like an easy conversion to a Subaru engined buggy. I would like to come over a look at the rig after I get back from Canada. Send me a PM or e-mail.

How's this for a deal?????
Dr. RX replied to chef_tim's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX105K in 5 years, that's not bad, that a little over 20k a year. Heck I put almost 30k on my car every year (most of it freeway driving). I think that the average miles per year is between 15k and 20k, so that isn't too bad, I certainly wouldn't say it was high, just slightly above average. Is it on a salvage title??

A-piller gauge pods
I got both the temp guage and pillar pod from Summit, I used that Impreza single guage pod from AutoMeter.

More signs B11S IS going into production?
Dr. RX replied to HB_Dad's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI totally agree with the poll, that front end looked terrible, very un-Subaru like. It's about time that Subaru woke up and started giving the USA all the performance stuff too.

progress on my ea81 install *updated 9/1 pics
Yes, the EA71 Y pipe is slightly narrower then the EA81. I just pulled mine apart when I installed an EA81 into Lewy.

Anyone want to guess????
I don't know, but it is keeping you from getting those parts for me.

2.2 swap in a brat
Having installed an EJ20G (from a JDM Legacy RS Turbo) into a RX, I can tell you there is plenty of room between the rails for the engine, and since the EJ22 isn't any wider, it should fit just as well. The problem that I had was with the radiator cooling. Solved that by eliminating the A/C and putting two pusher type fans infront of the radiator (it was a twin row), behind the grille.

3spd and 4spd 4WD automatic length-same?
Not sure about length, but isn't the 4 speed an electronic auto with it's own control box?? You'd have to figure how to wire that up if you installed the 4 speed.

Exhaust H2O Injection for Torque
Well, as for the water becoming steam, what do you think the exhaust gas temperatures are? I'll bet they are way pass the boiling point of water. Since the water is being injected (sprayed)into the exhaust chamber, I have an idea that it would almost instantly vaporize into steam. If I understand the process correctly, this isn't a full time occurrence, so there is no need for a large water tank, as it would only have an 'on demand' requirement. I believe since it was designed for watercraft that there was no thought of the effect to a cat, since most boats don't need them (yet). But since the water would be at a high temp, but lower then normal, it may cause the cat not to reach the desired temperature to be efficient.

#%$^@&*&* Digital Dash
CIS, actually both of my Subarus have digital dashes, but you are right, it is the 86. I know about the solder trick, but never tried it. I've thought about that 87+ digi-dash, but there were quite a few changes to the interior between 86 and 87, so like you, I'm not sure it would work.

How to Find An RX Coupe?
They just happen, I was looking for over a year, I found one, and bought it, then I bought one at a towing yard auction, then a guy I know, knew someone who had one so I bought that one, then I ran across another one an bought it. I have since sold all of them, and I still find a few every now and then, but the I am on the west coast. I'm coming up to Montreal the week of the 8th, I'll keep an eye out for you while I'm there.
