West Coast Subaru Show 9 is set!!
Buy some tarps. Thats what I plan on doing. Something for under the tent and then one for a cover. I hope to get a spot under a tree, but I havent seen the layout in several years. So if it does decide to get wet, I plan on staying dry.....in camp.

Please help? Got ripped off on ebay!
Jack the front end up and see if the tire moves top and bottom. Spinning it you might hear a grinding also. Check the axle nut for tightness, alot of times a previous mech might not have torqued it down enough.

Please help? Got ripped off on ebay!
Hmmm, it might be time to panic:-\ It does sound like the tranny could be on its way out. With the grinding (front diff) and it popping out of gear, these are typical symptoms of a bad tranny. I dont know Ebay policy on stuff like this, but if you had a certified mech look at it and would say in writing that the tranny is bad, maybe you could get the guy to give your money back. If you decide to keep the car, you should be able to find another tranny here on the Board.

Thunking noise in low speed turns
CV joint. But just for S&G's, check to see if the axle nut is tight. Real tight. How many miles on the car? If its high mileage, then I might consider suspension parts, but I'm sticking with the axle.

More brake questions Oh My!
Just tell him to wait until his car is around 20yrs old and in the 200Kmi range. We'll see how many problems he has to deal with then:mad: Once the major issues are cleared up, your car should be on a regular maintenance schedule.

ahhh! extra parts???

ahhh! extra parts???
All you did was replace the HG's? Shouldnt be any balls involved unless a mouse got in there:rolleyes: I believe theres one in the oil pump, but other than that not to my knowledge.

Looks like he might work at the SuperMall Dave. Next you/me are there at that time of night, we should put a note on his window. What part of the Mall was it in?

Thunking noise in low speed turns
Sounds like the CV joint is going out. Check the boot, its probably torn and lost all the grease. You could probably still drive it for a while, but its not going to get better. Replacement is easy, theres a couple of online places to buy axles(which I cant recall at the moment)

here we go again... info on T-case set-ups?
WCSS9 or bust! I shouldnt say that....I've broke down on the way to the last 2 shows:banghead: I need to swap out a front axle and its good to go this time. And I will be bringing extra axles and maybe a rear diff too.

Check out this GL STI i spotted!
This guy used to live in BL and moved a couple months ago. Dont think he was ever on the board, never had a chance to stop and talk to him. Glad to see its still around. I'm pretty sure its a RX.

here we go again... info on T-case set-ups?
I'll try and take some pics and maybe even diagrams(big maybe on that), but have to wait for a little better weather next week. I got fairly intimate(?) with my setup after having to remove most of it to replace the tranny and front/rear diffs. Theres lots of variables involved with any setup you go with and will take personal ingenuity in some areas of fabrication. Mounting bracket from the original t-case will be needed and the brackets for the front diff(from the rear)are needed also. A sub frame is needed to attach the mounts and the strut rod caps to. Before going into more detail and making others just question more, I will wait until I get some pics so you will know what I'm talking about.

T-case lift FAQ (transfer case questions / answers)
A small update on the afore mentioned "1WD" comment. I have a welded rear diff in mine and have driven on tarmac with one axle out. Lets just say......its a tad squirrely? Almost unsafe. With RWD and one axle, everytime you shift and give it gas, the car lurches to the drive side. If your really hard on the gas, its a significant lurch. Ask Qman, he drove my Hatch once like that and promptly installed the other axle. I say drive with both axles in, whether its welded or not.

85-GL ES82 Wagon Dropped Valve?
If you were able to turn it over with the starter, I dont think it dropped a valve. You might want to check all the bolts holding the cam in. Sounds like something keeps coming loose. Also sounds like you might still have a timing issue.

Tacoma PAP update
Tranny is still in it. The side and rear skirts are gone tho. I'm not sure, but the wing may be gone also.
