Probing an EA82 ECU... anyone done this?

I didn't go that deep I simply burnt a resistor. Ecu is dynamical for all throttle and math programmed. All I did was have good luck with resistor doubting electrical "calmness" due to the fact I have a 2wd gone wild.Assumed no driveshaft really made "stuff" manic.The following photo can be summed up with last sentence in it.( I took a deep breath after reading it.) The rest of ecu and system seems very common, universal, and rather simple, like injector etc. -

In reference to appearance of little cars to bigger ones. The elantra is about the same size as the loyale sedan. The suspension on the 2wd is not pleasant to look at like an american hotrod, but it sure does outhandle everything have driven (including a porsche 944). By chance is "seahag78" a name of a massachussetts fishing vessell? Something very familiar about that very word :-\ -

Most piston rings to this very day, despise the two way pressures of engine brake-> throttle. High mileage carbed subes really revealed it due to no air bypass like the spfi and later have. I actually like engine braking too, on the spfi. My dad drives rig and for as long as I can remember (since I was a wee little boy)... that d*mn jake would bring the boost guage to 30 lbs sometimes, with a turbo screaming, and the noise of a jake brake not doing anything but vibrating to 80000 lbs. At real low speeds -- its almost a benefit. He still claims its 10% helping brake, I don't doubt him, he has the feel of the weight at the helm. -

That is a saggy little looking car... about the same as a 2wd loyale. I won't be jackin the high performance autobahn rear suspension anytime soon tho -

abs is for folks who can't determine the max brake available to stay in control on all given terrains and tires. I would personally have a brake in feet distance from 60 contest anytime after learning my old sube for a decade.... and I am not even a "stuntman" . I drove a car with it just once and never want it again... (while I am young and able anyway..) maybe when I'm 90 and half blind. What a ridiculous gadget that is to me seriously. Almost as ridiculous as a diesels jake brake. -

It is a small world. the baja have fog lights up top? The first time I saw one I did a triple take. I haven't seen one yet without something bright or unusual from the norm... I bet this is a psychology discussion changing designs in auto engineering. I even looked back at my own car and frowned after painting. There is another white car next to it in my driveway for comparison- I definately stared at my unusual paint. I saw a video on the net of a truck coming down a long straight way to slam into the back of a black and white cruiser mysteriously while lights were flashing. Bizarre... -

I did have a roof rack that acted as a deter, no doubt- a long trip through highly defensive places proved it to myself. I bet it looked like an "older persons car". With roof racks off I have two highly contrasted rails looking like an older impreza rally car. Not to mention my paint is approved for aviation use and glows a white brighter than a headlight. I swore it went phosphorescent in the fog... very "you can see me now" even in the fog/cloudy skies or lit up at night by another car.It must be like an intimidating animal we associate high contrast with "deadly" or "intimidating" or "unusual" or "pay attention to me even if I don't ask for it". Ya know what I mean? -

The perfectly ahole driver scenario assuming things into thier cuty petuty road rages. I have posted about the renegade trucker from hell that worked on my rear bumper until 100+ mph. Or the vw jetta that angered me so badly, we did 90+ for 110 miles until his antifreeze was literally spewing onto my windshield. 'Stupid Inline."Today, a busy labor day weekend highway, I am in passing lane doing about 70 behind a hemi Dodge with plates "EETDUST". How Cute. I had a straight six with no front suspension and flapping fenders that would have passed it from 1978.Err hum, anyway, the car pulls over fast into right lane.. that is when I knew. "She is going to get right on my back side as soon as I go by". I forget sometimes my 70 could be someones 83... but anyway, she did just what I thought and I gave the little sube all it had. Again, 100+ mph until it either blew a headgasket or run out of fuel(I don't mean my car-I seriously would out do every one of them in longevity - they could count on it). It got off the highway in a hurry and I went about my 70. My sedan sube is a target. What is it? the little wheels? I'm low to the ground more than other cars, is that it? I posted of this in unrelated posts. What Do I do to stop it? This is the most "beat me up" stamped car I have ever had on the ever defensive highway out of a dozen or more cars. -
you can do many things here, if i remember diminsions correctly- 8 inch max round or oval (the fat part of the oval) and 16 inches long. The inlet pipe must be at the top of round muffler, i found centered and at the top to be great. out the back is your choosing, I went with the outlet coming out at 3 o'clock for a straight tailpipe to match oem cutout for it.if interersted in one i used, the walker part # is 18153,(2 in and out) and you only need to cut out old muffler to mount.a pro with welder could really get it in nice. Also, 2 inch is proving to be very good over oems metric 1 7/8 inch.

there is structure that you could negate with piping rather than the heavy guage the car has in spots. I found in my old wagon, the back end starting behind the rear seat is very powerfully heavy(that means signals too). Even the sedans have it above the gas tank.glass is a real weight faker as well as buzzing sheet steel. a roll cage strategically, for the tough signals,without removing anything may give you what your after.(?) if a few pounds of steel starts making the difference removed, the body had signal problems (torque related) and it simply tightened some lines that vacate the pressures quicker (stronger is tighter- acts lighter).

your charts are proving a hunch- high compression is the winner in my world and interpretation of little engines, it always will be. A mild supercharger at most on the high comp would keep me smiling. Air has flaws- a high compression hammer makes them smaller (pun intended). Can I save a picture for my website? -

given the size of the splines - that amount of move is unlikely (very!) . is there a bizarre axle joint prob? the cv? -
it sounds as though part of weight loss is making the very electrical system that needs quick, to mimick a lighter car, is part of the answer .

an optimistic thing I noticed is how tough the race is. bearings could be pulverized and overheated to find not even a scratch on the race - even if there was a problem, the bearings are self contained to beat up on itself and not the race. -

Hire someone to shift real fast to the light on the dashboard that say "shift" from the back seat, -- as the map man in the front seat is yelling coordinates.The shifter guy could even change chanells on the radio and make coffees for the driver! I took a gander underneath closely... it would be quite a presicion to get that stuff correct. An arm and hand feels to the bouncing engine, all terrains, tranny warm and cold. I see those gear paddles on bouncing rally cars and assuming "genius". -

Mechanics opinions get worse the farther north you go. I literally had a local "county sheriff" pull behind my car with hazards on and say "isn't it time to think about letting this car go?" I almost sh*t a brick. My car didn't even look bad. there was the smell of fuel as I sat there on the top of a steep hill in hermon (you may be familiar) in an ice storm and throttle stuck temporarily on my non-warmed up engine.The ice storm was perfect, and I was only one around for the half hour I sat there (the roads were that bad.) Stand your ground. Maybe as a gimmick 15 years from now, you can find the opinionated peoples cars and grab a part or two from the "amercian cars only" junk pile where they end up.I'm not certain of what lasts -- I have summed up the entirety of gm with "I liked the big ol' delco radio." -

good point. I used regular lightweight variant of glass cleaner mixed with a household degreaser. Worked very good. I did wait for quite some time before trying it out.Knowing it is part of a "hotwire" setup degreasing seemed common sense. -

I have daydreamed of it at a minimum much shorter throw than oem- (that has been in several posts already) It seems like my 2wd ea82 finds a nice range of power in one gear and I'm takin forever like a tractor trailer going to next gear. I don't have a turbo lag on my n/a and still don't like losing the "head of steam". I experimented by shifting as fast as I could - it really does hang onto some noticable momentum of previous gear and rpm achieved.In fact, I thought my little sedan was fast. The exhaust almost lets out a snap of stubborn and the gains keep on going.Dare I say exotic car sounding ... if compression were any higher... wow. -

I am still searching for an identity. An intriguing site that classifies them in australia, is still finding variants even now, today. I hope an unbiased pro gets it accurate... it would be interesting to have a different breed of spider never documented. maybe its a "Subaru Huntsman Spider" or "Maine Huntsman" or "Bumper huntsman". Another fact trying to be scientific, is it is in with "cane spider" appearance. I absolutely love coffee (cream and extra sugar/sugar) and my passenger side floor takes a few days to have alot of empty cups. something intrigued this critter to the sound and speed of my travelling car- I even assumed a bassy thumping ship, similar to a thumpy low rpm sube. This spider is by no means in its local habitat of origin, like a subaru. -

even then, just degreasing everything around it is a small ecu/spfi miracle. Electronics with a clock can gather bizarre things in the outside environment -- and to think a car is funnelling the very air down the intake across most of it.... for years and years. I am sure there is unkown physics to the point of mechanics saying "you're crazy" when problems are attempted to be discussed. A switch is a switch -- until you see that strange stuff attached - starting with static energy that won't ever leave it while running.I have sincerely been called a "weirdo" until I proved myself without words on that very subject.My home pc hit me in the eyes one day with the cover off... There is no words.Slow electronics is dirty if power is good. the old sube might be fast enough if... you degrease the engine. -

local maine mechanic and your old sube? uh oh. Allow me to shed some very real frustration of optimism... Is there parts non-replacable destroyed? what is there reasoning?Did he get specific? I have seen these jap car hating lack of knowledged morons do this to many nieve people. Then they go back to talking about welding the frame rails on thier plow truck as if the main structure of there 4000 lb hillbilly mobile didn't even have a problem. Even if the old sube has a unibody problem, they are even more fixable than the junks I have seen wobbling down the road with an american flag and headers. Every external body part is replacable - there are even underside parts, custom built with patience going stronger and farther than original (I have personally done this non "halfassed" successfully). Get another opinion before giving up. A foriegn car enthusiast's garage has a totally different factual opinion, with optimism. If rust is scary to look at by your mechanic, go find another. -

I was guided to this already, thank you. I even posted a disagreement in another forum (bug identifiers). I found one almost like it spotted in ontario a year ago posted on the web, and the identifiers also put in in the "cross spider" section, I disagreed again due to the many differences- The picture taker was also surprised as I am with "I have never seen such a large spider in the wild". mine is much lighter in color, bigger and body slightly different. Ironically the very class of this spider (cross spider) has a female not far from my car to compare it too. Upon fact finding the male is smaller - I thought the female I found, also labeled a cross spider was the male, as it is much smaller than what is living in my car and it isn't. I wonder what size the male is... I bet she killed him. After reading of symptoms of its bite I was startled to realize a strangely bad day at work after grabbing my tools out of the trunk (the rear bumper is this big mamas home). dizziness to the point of falling down, and heart gurgles I thought was heartburn.and a rash that wouldn't quit- not even diagnosed "poison ivy". They bite if nest is egged, and they are very freakin fast. So for now it is a very large unusual "cross spider". I still think I picked it up somewhere other than local. I may keep it in a jar as my first and possibly the strangest living critter of my old de-pigged sube. -
I thought of these chuckling to the stereotype our little ea82's have: "the cars are slow". Here is 10 thoughts. Can you add to it? 1. the boost guage is for a 500 hp caterpillar diesel engine 2. roof racks installed on the sedan are there to disperse engine torque. 3. speeding ticket for 13 over the speedometer climbing a 10% grade 4. 4500 rpm from redline, your passing everyone on the highway. 5. 0-60 don't mean jack sqaut 6. every drive pulley wound into sounds of a supercharger. 7. all passengers hang on during casual takeoffs. 8. you do 110 mph to catch up to the wrx to read the bumper sticker. 9. bellow of air flow floored, actually has throttle response. 10. the engine spins to 8k casually gettting the mud off the tires.
