Stupid Question
Best way to tell if it works is to put power to it...but only for a very short time, the connector is diffrent so that would deffinatly have to be changed, but other than that you need to find out what car it came off of to check the pressure of it.

Car suddenly got EXTREMELY loud!
Does it usually struggle that bad up hills??? i bet that sucker blow out because your cats plugged..... but i would just get a good rust breaker and spray the bolts and then let it soak in and try to get them off if you, at any point, feel like somthing is going to break take it to a mechanic and have them break the bolts so there liable if they break off right next to the head.

Diagnose this:occasional non-oil smoke from EA81 upon starting, wears off when warm
We had a car come into the shop with a very similar problem and it would overheat just a little... we went through everything and finally put a block tester on it and found that the head gasket was slowly and i mean slowly leaking. you can pick up the tester and instruction on how to use it at your local napa.
-
warped rotors?
Unless the rotors are vissably tweaked( you can see a bend in them an i have never heard of that happening) they wouldnt do that. and if it were the rotor it would get worse when you applied the breaks i agree to check ball joints but also check out all your other front and parts like tie rods and steering components.

VOLTS??? Help if you can.
I would check the voltage at the battery with a multimeter before trusting your gauge. hook up the multimeter and it should charge around 14 with the rmps up.
